He wrote TRI... with three dots.
It's TRIPLE, no? |
It has to be triple or 3 of something, but how does that relate to the puzzle?
Perhaps there is 3 solutions, or 3 different puzzles? Triple grid... |

My phone doesn't like the URL so I'm going to embed it as an image: http://www.oddworld.com/soulstorm/ed/trigrid.png

Fixed it for you

So we have now IQ puzzle with triangle of certain color as an answer. And what it will be? Hint to another JPG link? REDTRIANGLE? BLUETRIANGLE? GREENTRIANGLE? |
I put the RGB codes above the tris. Maybe you can find a pattern with multiplying/adding the single colors etc.

First off, I finally think I have a chance to contribute. You guys are way too good. :D
I took the trigrid into photoshop to check the codes on the colors. The only triangles that have identical colors are the green and purple ones, as indicated in my attached image. I noticed that both colors included "1029" in their code. The only other color to include "1029" is the reddish purple triangle (circled). Not sure if this is even helpful, but hey... |
1029 is the number of the RuptureFarms factory and it has appeared throughout the ARG a few times, it could be a hint...
The Hexcode from the two colors are 291029 and 102910 and the red in the top right is 501029 if this is useful for any of you. |
been plugging in variations of all those numbers, as well as "Rupture Farms" into the message box and the soulstorm/ed/ url but haven't found anything yet :/
|
Not sure where you guys found 1029 in those colors but remember this code was used to unlock the first Piece:
0451-1138-1029-2739 Two of those numbers weren't used elsewhere in the ARG. Maybe they help here? |
Mr. Blow has to be fooling round with us:

This counts as a double post, right? :D
He reacts way too eager to not be involved in this. |
Trigrid image with the RGB codes converted into hex codes

Is it possible the 2 puzzles interlink in some way? They both have the same amount of spaces / triangles. Perhaps it will give us some information about the red circles?
EDIT: Ed tweeted a solitary G earlier... A, B, C, D, E and F all appear at the start of the at least one HEX code for a colour on the grid. Is it possible our mystery triangle has G at the start? and then possibly some variation of 1029? |
There we go, wiki updated...

I think the "g" was to help us find trigrid.png. Well it was that tweet that made me find it anyway.
|
I don't think I would have solved any of this, its fascinating though :D
|
I feel like I should point out that #E124BA is the same color as the magenta sun, and #EF0909 is the same color as the red dot. We also have black and white, so the only color not on the trigrid is the bright green, which is #02FF36. Not sure if that helps, but I thought I'd say it anyways.

I think it's worth noting that the purple/green triangles seem to match the blank spaces well. That might be a coincidence, though.
Let's hope Jonathan Blow makes an account and helps us. |
Just dropping in to say I’m useless with this type of puzzle, call me when you figure out this hot mess

Oh c’mon I’m not that good.
The only thing I can add besides reiterating how the puzzle elements work (by regurgitating what was already posted) is that I think we were meant to find the witness.png pretty easily in the first place. We got told up-front to look for the “witness” puzzle, and then the code “.p” message was just a hint to look for an image. That’s pretty much all we needed, no need to overthink it. No clue what the trigrid means. Is the puzzle solvable by normal means without it? Does anyone have an idea of what the red circles do? |
Hi, all! I'm here because somebody asked a question on the Witness subreddit and I have found it fun and want to have the answer. I have never played OddWorlds, but my girlfriend told me I really should (I guess you would approve her), so I guess it's only a matter of time ;-). That's for the introduction. Now I have only two things to say:
- In "The Witness" there is a rule associated to triangles. This is the most difficult rule to learn because you have to learn it from 14 puzzles hidden all over the island, that you will probably find in random order. The rule is only used in secret areas after the normal ending of the game. The rule is (spoilers!) that if there are N triangles in a cell, the path you draw should run along exactly N of the sides of that cell. So I guess that this rule is not related to the trigrid image (moreover, in The Witness, the triangles are not equilateral). - I have seen nobody notice that the orientation of the triangles is not random: if you continue the top-left edge of a triangle, the line will also go over the top-left edges of other triangles. It's as if the whole image had been rotated. |

You should definitely try Oddworld games. The best place to start are the first two games: Abe's Oddysee & Abe's Exoddus ;) Thank you for the input on the witness puzzle! |
