Yeah, those are a perfect example of what I was thinking. Either that or one of those "interactive" ones, like the early parts of Homestuck, or Awful Hospital, where the protagonist is controlled by reader comments, so it's still a "game" in spirit.

I think Tom Siddell (who writes and illustrates Gunnerkrigg Court) could make some excellent spinoff webcomics, his comic revolves around lots of intrigue and mystery and has tons of mythological and historic references.

Oddworld would work very well in different mediums. Like others have said webcomics seem to be a good start. Perhaps a comic adaptation of Abe's Oddysee would be a good idea - based on Lorne's film script?
