In any case, the competition doesn't have jack on Google at the moment because YouTube is the only video site that has a decent ad system and is thus the only video site where videomakers can get decently paid for their work.

The moment Daily Motion starts offering an alternative to YouTube in terms of earning revenue off videos, that's when some of the big names on YouTube will start migrating. But even then, why would a YouTube celebrity with a mass following risk losing all that just by switching platform? I think we're stuck with YouTube for a long while to come.

Half of me wants to say that they won't have a following to speak of if youtube continues pulling this type of shit further and further down the line; then the other half reminded me that people will in all likelihood swallow up anything google spews out.
Oh well, I can always hope.

I'd figure if they actually are a YT celebrity, if they just say "Hey guys YT sucks, go on this other site instead." a good lot of their fans would flock to whatever that site was.

I was reading through the comments and I couldn't help but notice most of the top comments are stupid.

So I switched the top comments option to newest comments and I did a screen cap of the difference.

Out of all the f*cking changes they could have done why the like bar? Did they really interperate people spamming the hell on videos with bad comments as "please change the bar, I don't like green."

And I think the update has affected peoples brains as all I see now are comments about "help bob take over youtube."

I don't even need to explain why that's stupid.

They probably changed it so Youtube has a more simplistic look. Now it only uses red and blue colors. While you may argue whether it's a valid excuse to change the likebar colors, the red and green colors had a purpose too.

I've heard it suggested it was to make the design better for people with colour blindness. I don't know how true that is.

To bring this thread back on topic to at least a marginal degree, why is youtube repeatedly shoving their stupid guide in my face every time I open a new video? It's almost as if they're purposefully trying to get on my nerves even after I've given up on the commenting aspect for over a year.

comments don't mean anything to them anyway. it's pointless. like those things i keep seeing everywhere saying "this is bob. bob is building an army. help bob by copy/pasting more shit to his shitty stupid army to help defeat the great Googlebob" or whateverr.

It scares me that not a single one of those people saw any issue with making a Google+ account in order to post that shit.

Some of them surely linked their youtube profile to G+ by accident (didn't know they're doing so). Some of them made G+ account (with names like Saruman White) for the sole purpose of spamming, leaving their normal accounts unlinked

Well I feel stupid for not understanding what he meant by both but anyway,

Am I the only one who's been having issues where youtube will suddenly switch to the first video in a playlist for no reason whats so ever and then I have to find where I was?

It also bothers me how these people think that spamming on videos will fix anything, I feel so sorry for channels that work so hard and all the comments are from people who just copy and past bob without even bothering to watch the video.

The main issue I've been having is certain videos stopping at one exact point, no matter when I watch it.

I doubt that would work. People might make an initial move to watch that YouTuber, but when someone subscribes to 20-odd YT channels they're not going to make the change.
