I remember MarsMudoken and Spiderman... eh good times

Slog Bait 10-11-2012 05:31 PM

I wasn't here for the Spiderman shenanigans. It happened some time when I was trying to get my account back, and I saw it mentioned on the FB group.

MarsMudoken, Angry_Greeter, and Glukkonlulu I remember quite well, though.

Phylum 10-11-2012 09:37 PM

I remember all of the people on the last page before Nate banned them for discussing bans.

I'm probably alone in this viewpoint, but maybe he deserves one chance at becoming an actual member. If he creates an account, states that it is him instead of trying to wheedle his way in like a little shite, I'd certainly be happy to see if he has matured.

Every multi he's made that slipped through the net was objectionable and annoying even before he revealed himself. I'm not inclined to give him any chances.

Especially on here, it seems, where MS is the only person who ever gets banned. I can only remember maybe three other instances but can't remember the usernames in question.

There haven't been a huge amount. A small but significant number in the old days before I was a mod. I count three in the last two years that we've been keeping records. And in between 2006 and 2010... I can't recall anyone significant. But then, my memory for old members here is pretty shitty.

EDIT: This doesn't include spambots, of course. At last count, I've banned 89 of them in the last two months alone.

MarsMudoken was banned?

Nope. He's still a member.

Hah. Given how long ago these bannings happened (and given the context of this thread), I'm prepared to be lenient.

OANST 10-12-2012 02:03 PM

Nate, and Wil would ip ban me about once a week for about a year.

Of course, that's because I share an ip with MS, but still, it counts.

Mr. Bungle 10-12-2012 02:15 PM

That's hilarious.

Also, I suspect that Nate only kept this open so that MS could continuously see our rejection of him. I assume he visists this site every day.

Oh, Nate. You're so cruel.

Nepsotic 10-12-2012 02:20 PM

He deserves it, though.

He's kind of like overly attached girlfriend.

Not me. And I don't think Wil either. This was back in the day when Peter still bothered moderating.

enchilado 10-12-2012 08:03 PM

What, why did OANST share an IP with MS?

Slog Bait 10-12-2012 09:21 PM

Wasn't it his work IP or something and it just happened to be the exact same as MS's

Nate 10-12-2012 10:36 PM

It wasn't exactly the same. We can ban entire blocks of IP addresses; that is, if a member in the past had used IP addresses 123.213.24.100 and 123.213.58.215, we can ban everything from 123.213. Unfortunately, that risks catching out legitimate members as well.

Mr. Bungle 10-12-2012 11:16 PM

And it just so happens that our most hated user shared an IP with one of our most beloved. Conspiracy.

Also, we should probably all be banned right now, what with the whole "no speaking of banned members" rule. Come to think of it, we all should have been banned long, long ago.

Slog Bait 10-12-2012 11:18 PM

I completely forgot it was even a rule until this thread.

I'm a bad member. ):

Mr. Bungle 10-12-2012 11:21 PM

Don't worry. We're all bad. Some are just worse than others.

Which one's which?

enchilado 10-13-2012 04:14 AM

Actually, I think there are members I dislike more than MS1029.

Nepsotic 10-13-2012 08:20 AM

Like Spiderman?

OANST 10-16-2012 05:57 AM

I liked Spiderman. He was just misunderstood.

Nepsotic 10-16-2012 06:57 AM

He was a prat. He had some disorder where he physically couldn't understand why we were all dicks to him. In his mind he was the perfect forum member and we were just inferior (obviously he wouldn't use the word inferior).

Mr. Bungle 10-16-2012 12:52 PM

Pretty sure he was an aspie.

Slog Bait 10-17-2012 09:46 AM

It might have just been his age at the time though that doesn't seem right considering he's marginally older now, but MS seems to be too. He acts almost identical to my brother, and he has Asperger's.

Phylum 10-18-2012 12:09 AM

Remember that time Nate made an impromptu rule to ban Gwan-Thwei from posting in that thread about autism?

That was great.

Nate 10-18-2012 12:14 AM

No, actually I don't.

EDIT: Just did some searching. I still don't remember it, but I can see how damnably annoyed I was.

Phylum 10-18-2012 12:51 AM

OH GOD I'M AS BAD AS NEP

Varrok 10-18-2012 03:51 AM

I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, Phylum.

Nepsotic 10-18-2012 07:12 AM

Hey, what's wrong with internet archeology?

http://www.oddworldforums.net/showth...t=20171&page=4
I'll leave the link there, in case anyone else wants to read that thread. I wish I could have been a part of that discussion :(.

Slog Bait 10-18-2012 07:24 AM

It's always nice to have at least a few people who have a good recollection of past events online. Even if they weren't actually there for some of it. Most of it, in Nep's case.

There were so many discussions that happened that I wish I could have been a part of because I would have actually had something decent to say on the matter. I'm rarely able to contribute anything to a discussion on here and when I do it ends up like the shit I spouted off in the thread of morbidity just for the sake of discussing. In other words saying shit that makes me look like an ignorant, cocky ass.

Nepsotic 10-18-2012 07:47 AM

That's because there hasn't been any decent threads lately. There's like one new thread per month, and they're almost always really boring.

Slog Bait 10-18-2012 07:51 AM

Well yeah, but I had the same problem even when I first joined. Though I guess I can't expect much considering how long the forums been around. Most topics have already been discussed to death, it's hard to come up with something new and interesting to talk about.

Nepsotic 10-18-2012 08:02 AM

We could go round again, recreate threads from 2002 and see what the members who haven't been here since then have to say! I think it's a genius idea.
