Wil, will Shrinks be making an appearance in Abe HD?
I've campaigned to have one make a cameo, but it looks like that won't happen. It's a very complicated model just for a cameo.
Well have it as a full thing, eh!? Or.... perhaps there could be footage of that video on a screen somewhere maybe a secreat area?
Talking of secret areas, Abe's Exoddus provided bottles to give away secrets, what will abe HD provide?
Eh, bottles?

I can understand rupturefarms, the occasional barrel was a good idea, possibly scrabania may have a type of cave painting or haystack and paramonia may have a paramite cocoon or a nest of small beetles or spiders? The free fire zone may be hard to think of, maybe some sort of mudokon grave or corpse? I don't know, these are just ideas swimming in my head, but im sure whatever you guys come up with will be fantastic.

Side note: Holy shit, 15 years. What's the screen code of the place you're thinking of? |
ATTENTION: ACHTUNG: LISTEN UP: AND ALL THAT:
OK! I'VE WORKED ALL OF THIS THING WITH THE GUARDIAN ANGEL OUT!! Ok, all of what happens with Abe in AO happens. Then he gets captured by the Sligs in the end. But BEFORE he is executed (or not) as seen here: http://youtu.be/UL-2NQVifDE and http://youtu.be/gCDlDsIFbfE The Guardian Angel scene takes place, in that very same room where he's going to be executed. If you don't believe me it's the same room in both scenes. Just look at the background, you've got the molluk suks grafiti and the tally grafiti AND it even says on the Oddworld Wiki that it appears to be the same room. AND! (Yes, there is more.) The "if you wanna be free" line was to advertise the game, but in this story it wouldn't make sence. So the "It's time to confess!" line sounds like the Shrink is trying to get Abe to confess to all of what he's done in the game. *Takes break.* SO, Abe does all his things in AO. Abe, gets captured by the sligs. Abe, in the cell or whatever that room could be called, has the Shrink come to try and get him to confess to all the things he's done in AO. And then Molluk has Abe executed OR Abe's mudoken friends save him. That will be all. *That train station intercom 'ding dong' noise plays.* |
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought we all knew that already.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you might've.
Also what I picked up on, the demo has more gore, there was a type of blending sound when you or someone else gets cut up by the meat grinders, plus it gave off a lot more blood, how come the official release changed the sounds and gore? (also including abe saying stay here instead of wait)
Not a bad theory Pupbenny, but we're all pretty sure they just used a stock environment for the Guardian Angle video without any intention of contextual implication.
I'm pretty sure that what Pupbenny said was heavily implied in the Oddworld: First Ten Years book in the part that documented when they were trying to identify concepts for AO.
If it's set when Abe is captured, Then why did the Angel show him the dangers of his quest?
Abe would of seen and done all that. But nevertheless, Not a bad theory. |

Wil (or anyone who works at JAW, I just address Wil because he's the only one on tthe forums that I know definately works at JAW I think....), while you're making MO HD, I presume you'd need to make the models from scratch. Well, while you're at it, why don't you guys put in some fo the stuff that OI were going to put in MO but didn't have the time?
They're not redoing the engine, so they can't do much. They are unable to even change the level geometry.
So, everything's the same except it's in better quality and the sound is in better quality? If that's so, are they gonig to change some of the sounds? I found the slide whistle noise when you slid down a hill kind of.... odd. But not oddworld odd.... just odd....

Ok, that was poorly put.
It's showing off the gameplay because it's a trailer, it can't be taken as pure cannon. One assumes that in reality it was an event that took place between Abe's capture and the ending. |
First time I saw this, years ago, I actually tought the shrink was showing Abe what would happen to him if he tried to escape... but in some twisted way still pushes Abe to escape. We know Shrinks want to escape from their enslavement too, so it would somehow make sense.
Of cource the explanation pupbenny has posted makes sense as well |
Agreed.
