Its strange to think that without GT's name change from SoulStorm to Abes Oddysee, we would never have the main Oddysee title.

Wil 01-20-2012 03:21 PM

:

Nod's Oddysee was a title made up by Oddworld Forum admin Max the Mug. Few fans know the idea is a fake and belive that it is the final Quintology hero.

There's so much wrong with that, a perfect example of why I can't stand the Oddworld Wiki. Why won't anyone be my damn web dev. :(

I started the Oddworld Wiki together with a friend (GameFreak) :p I just checked and I still have admin status after all this time.

Funnily enough, I also founded the Diablo Wiki, and still have admin status there too.

But I haven't edited either of them in years =P

Should I make you an admin at the Oddworld Wiki (and the same question applies to Nate and Xavier)?

Nate 01-20-2012 09:41 PM

I think he'd prefer it if every page on the wiki linked directly to the equivalent page on TOL. But he'd be too polite to say so.

Xavier 01-22-2012 10:32 PM

Well it can always come handy to have access to it. So yes please :)

Ok :)

Is this you?

At the end of their journey, Munch thanks Abe for helping him get the Gabbiar, which surprises Abe since he never got a thanks for the good he has done(except from Big Face, who then killed Abe by accident).
Who is responsible for this little nugget of information?

I think it is talking about the start of Abe's Exoddus, when the Big Face says thanks to Abe and then pats him in the back, and he falls. He didn't die then though, so I've just corrected it, thanks for pointing it out.

Nepsotic 01-24-2012 07:22 AM

ah well, no Wiki's are perfect

Xavier 01-25-2012 05:27 AM

I am not sure, I tried to send myself a new password and I haven't received any mail yet.

Ok, let me know when you know what your username on wikia is.

Didn't Abe die from smashing his head after falling off a cliff in the middle of the night and landed on the ground in broad daylight in a completely different environment even though he only fell for a few seconds and then some Big Face appeared and announced his deadness to him?

The bad endings most certainly are 100% canon. Abe died all of those times and then some. And by some I mean every single in game death you had while playing through the games for the first time.

I don't think he landed in daylight. It was more like some kind of ethereal spotlight put in for the sake of theatricality. Or you could rationalize that it was "the light", and Big Face intercepted his journey to the afterlife to tell him his true purpose and revive him.

Dipstikk 02-03-2012 12:45 PM

Spoiler: Big Face is really the Pyro.

Hudda hudda.

Bullet Magnet 02-03-2012 03:28 PM

Bigface is clearly a fanboy.

I think it was metaphorical, in that he wasn't really dead, "just" dying and near death, when the Big Face came and healed him.

God dammit guys, stop ruining my fun.

I'm pretty sure it was metaphorical, but it still doesn't explain why moments after landing in the middle of the night it was suddenly day time again. The trek back to Rupture Farms made more sense because I can see it taking more than a day to complete the Scrabanian + Paramonia challenges and returning at night because it would be easier to infiltrate in the dark, but the damn moon was high in the sky and there was no sunrise to be seen from the first go through the Stockyards.

I was going to pick at how he was just miraculously brought back to life, but this is Oddworld. If you can possess pretty much anything that moves just by "channeling" your energy through chanting, burst into a flock of birds when you die, and exclusive to MO you can revive pretty much everyone an infinite amount of times, I can see a random shaman just approaching him after he smashes his head and bringing him back to life.

My point still stands. Those bad endings were entirely canon things that happened. Yep. Time fuckery may or may not have been involved. I'm perfectly cool with accepting they were all alternate timelines based on what decisions Abe made.

DesertBuzzard 02-04-2012 02:45 PM

Abe could have been lying there for a few hours until Big Face found him in the morning or something. It could have just taken a few seconds in the cutscene.

Scraby 02-04-2012 02:51 PM

Hmmm as I remember when abe fell from that top he said that he smashed his head until some big face appeared and said he was dead.

Nate 02-04-2012 02:54 PM

It's pretty clearly a mystical circle of light and not normal daylight, given the way that Bigface is not visible beyond the circle of light but appears as he walks through the perimeter. If it was normal daylight, he'd be visible from any distance.

DesertBuzzard 02-04-2012 03:00 PM

I've wondered about that and thought that it's either something along those lines or just for effect. Once Abe wakes up, though, the lighting is different so I'd say it's not daylight.

STM 02-04-2012 03:03 PM

Well..no, Abe says his life changed 'in just one night'.

DesertBuzzard 02-04-2012 03:08 PM

No, he says it changed in just one day. It's daytime in Paramonia, the sky gets darker near the end of Scrabania and it's night when Abe returns to Rupture Farms.

Nate 02-04-2012 03:09 PM

My guess is that dawn came around the time he was entering the Monsaic Lines, given that it still looks like night time outside, but it's day when he's exploring inside, as well as when he's in Paramonia and Scrabania.

DAZDOUG 02-07-2012 08:15 AM

The music that is played when Big Face appears is just amazing.

STM 02-07-2012 08:54 AM

'Tis the same music that plays at the end of the game when you save all the mudokons and get brought to the Sanctum. I listen to this song at least once a week on my Oddworld playlist to help me fall asleep XD

Bullet Magnet 02-07-2012 05:23 PM

I had always hoped that the soundtrack would feature that music in an extended, even full length version. No such luck.

Slig_Dude_64 02-16-2012 06:10 AM

There's so much mystery in Big Faces past.

Sekto Springs 02-17-2012 11:56 PM

The end credits of the AE movie had a medley of the FMV soundtracks without dialogue. I really wish they had released a proper soundtrack.

STM 02-18-2012 05:59 AM

I thought they did? All the songs were up for download on the old pre-J.A.W site. I have all the Abe's Oddysee songs and 3/4 of Abe's Exoddus as well as 1/5 of Stranger's Wrath.
