Signed it!

Surely if all the big websites are against it they should put some sort of link to a petition on their homepage, considering millions, if not billions, of people visit everyday.
I found the following video interesting. Apparently they've already done something similar in Turkey - The government backed down after a lot of protests, but there's still some censorship in place. A taste of things to come for all of us?

Also, signed the guy's filibuster thingy. |
Im double posting, for America. They vote on it today, this site is trying to rally against it. Has a place where you can call or email congress, post on your social network of choice, and info on SOPA.

I'm going to call them in the morning. I'm sending them an e-mail right now.
I urge everyone who sees this to mirror the link on their Facebooks, Twitters, Tumblrs, and any other blogs. This is the moment of truth where we see whether or not the people actually have a voice. |
So the internet either wins or starts dying today. Well shit.
Good news: It's been postponed while they review it further. It'll still have a chance to be voted through US congress, it looks like, but at least they're taking a closer look at it now without blindly passing it through.
Good. We need this blackout period to get more signatures, more callers. Now that they're going to take a closer look at the bill, we really need to rattle their cages and let them know what the people think.
fuck off, no chance it will happen, the internet brings in a shitload of money for america, this, trust me, will not happen, maybe a bit, for a short time, but even if they do try it it wont last, theyll realise what a stupid mistake theyd make, and i'm british!
If you bothered to read the start of the thread, you'd discover that we'd already covered that.
It doesn't matter who plans what - If it's bad, it's always best to campaign against it even if it may at first glance not look like it will pass. And SOPA very, very nearly did pass. And still might. Remember that many people in government are ignorant and/or corrupt and should never be trusted to do the right thing, even when the wrong thing is terrible and the right thing to do is painfully obvious. |
It's weird that the word government has become synonymous for corrupt and ignorant. Everyone knows those people should not be in a position of power yet no-one is doing anything against it.
because theyre afraid! its very rare that 1 person will stand against the government unless theyre backed up, have you never heard of Rosa Parks?
:
And concerning your "very rare that 1 person will stand against the government unless theyre backed up" statement, I know there are people who definitely would do it alone if they could, but unfortunately (or in most cases, fortunately), one person just does not have that kind of power. In order to have even the mildest effect, you must act as a group (and I believe it would have to be a big group). |
SOPA hasn't won yet!
Please watch this video.
I was only able to watch about a minute before I started bleeding from my eyeballs, but here is my response:
He's full of shit. Here is my more detailed reponse: Yes, media outlets have sued people who uploaded copyrighted material. But - you know what? - that's already covered by existing law. SOPA isn't about suing end-users, it's about controlling and blocking the distribution websites. It's about blocking anyone in the USA from accessing The Pirate Bay and Rapidshare. Also, his implied claims about how the media outlets supposedly provided bittorrent software to people so that they could then sue them for using it is rubbish. Also, also, he's really annoying. |

Mike Mozart is terribly annoying. I've seen a few of his toy reviews, which are all-around a waste of time as the toys he reviews are the kind that the average person would not care about.
Someone his age who carves out that kind of niche has social issues. Anyway, I can't account for the validity of any of the claims made in the video, as he touches on a specific issue I have yet to research. |

So this is why my god dam subscriptions are full of this video. God I hate that guy. I'am not worry because I don't think this is going to happen in England. Unless am wrong tell me now. :D
Oh really? They say ignorance is bliss...
I glanced at his website and his point seems to be that a CBS subsidiary owns CNET, which has distributed BitTorrent software. But even if the thought follows that CBS thus consciously distributed BitTorrent software, it's not distributing the actual torrents. The media outlets have never had any problem with BitTorrent itself, just with it being used to transfer certain files.
Yeah, I watched eleven minutes of that to see if he was going to make a sensical point, and that's all I could think of.
HERP DERP THE FATCATS STARTED A CONSPIRACY TEN YEARS AGO TO CONTROL THE INTERNET, WATCH MY VIDEO AND SEND IT 2 UR FRIENDS TO KNOW THE TRUTH Fuck that noise. |
Wings of Fire got the ideal. :D
Hehe, Godaddy claimed to support SOPA and in response the majority of their customers decided to leave. So guess what, suddenly they don't support SOPA anymore.
:
What happened to that america bill that would STOP all gaming websites and video's? Is that over? |
