E: Also many cheeses and some forms of thicker dairy contain very little carbs.

If you wanna lose weight DON'T EAT CHEESE!!! It's very fat! Trust me: it contains many proteins but also many lipids!

Actually. If you cut out a significant amount of carbs, your body will need natural/real fat to lose weight. Try and look into the matter. It's quite interesting really.

Carbs must be eaten in the morning. I have two egg whites, a cup of tea (with sugar) and 6 rusks for breakfast (and Supradyn after that!). Two snacks with tuna and ham with some bread. This is what I eat during the morning till lunch.

Disgruntled Intern 06-28-2011 11:25 AM

Has anyone else here tried P90X? Elvis burned a copy of the DVDs for me so I wouldn't have to pay quite some time ago, and man, that's one hell of a work out. If you can stop yourself from laughing at the guy who leads the routines, I mean. He's such a fucking douche. Seriously though, that's a rough program. Good results if you stick with it. Most people don't.

Carbs is an essential part of a regular diet. But but some people do weight-loss by cutting out those carbs to a bare minimum then slowly going up. If you do low-carb you can't do low-calorie at the same time, and the body also needs fat. Who'd have thought you can lose weight by eating meat and fat and controlled amounts of fruits/veggies? It's possible. Look into "ketosis".
It seem to work for a lot of people, specially those with a big appetite.

I really liked sticking to it though. It's fairly simple to find out how many carbs there are in a certain food, and I wouldn't have to limit myself. But it gave me strength to cut out all the sugary crap and get rid of my bad food addictions.

But either way, under these circumstances fat CAN help you lose weight.

STM 06-28-2011 12:51 PM

I eat small meals throughout the day, supposedly eating six small meals is healthier for people that do more than an hour of exercise a day than three meals.

Either way, whether eggs are meat or not. Nate didn't say he renounced meat for moral issues, but because they make him nauseous. I was just wondering if eggs have the same effect.

Oh, I wasn't trying to correct you. I was just spewing my musings.

I don't starve myself but I find it effective to cut down the amount of meals I have in a day down to one and walk. And I mean fucking trek... no bikes or none of that easy option nonsense.

As Scrabtrapman said, the healthiest thing is to eat multiple small meals throughout the day. That's because each one hits your metabolism less hard, so it's able to process it better. Also, the simple act of digesting food uses up energy, so it's best to spread it across the day to have the greatest effect.

What about eggs?

E: Also many cheeses and some forms of thicker dairy contain very little carbs.

Eggs and cheese are fine.

And yea. I've read about low-carbing. I even tried it, but then my mom bullied me out of it cos she thinks its unhealthy <.<

Your mum is wrong, as long as you keep it to 'Low Carb' and not 'No Carb'. The healthiest diet (as dictated by actual doctors and scientists, and not kooks) is high protein, low fat and low carbs. However, what you're describing (in the second post that I quoted) sounds like the Atkins Diet, which only works in the short term and even then is extremely unhealthy.

abe is now! 06-28-2011 11:51 PM

Nexy remember that our brain needs 25 g of carbs everyday for our vital functions. So we obviously must eat at leasr those 25 g. Then we will eat other carbs... but when you're practising body-building with a high-protein diet but you eat lots of carbs suddenly, you notice it in your abdomen!

T-nex 06-29-2011 02:42 AM

well yea, I didn't mean no carbs at all.

Anyway Im trying to cut bread and milk out of my diet.. Its so hard though x_x

abe is now! 06-29-2011 02:46 AM

Be sure you're not eating junk food and don't eat much carbs in the evening, trust me! Do you practise any sports?

T-nex 06-29-2011 02:52 AM

No... I hate sports. I sometimes spend an hour a day playing DDR, which is great cardio really. Really it's great exercise.
But cutting bread out at least would be a good choice for me x_x Id rather eat rice or get my carbs from a better source. But I love the convenience of bread. And sometimes it's very economical.

Also milk apparently isn't good if you are trying to lose weight :p ... considering it's there to help cattle grow friggin huge. But I guess it's good if you wanna gain muscle?

abe is now! 06-29-2011 03:17 AM

I don't think, however I can't drink it because I am allergic to lactose... but I love its taste :(

STM 06-29-2011 03:17 AM

Exercise and diet always go in tandem you must do both if you want to be fit and healthy. Even if you hate sports 5 minutes of sprinting on a treadmill at 15 kph in sets is good.

T-nex 06-29-2011 03:22 AM

Thats why I have DDR ... :) Its fun AND it makes me sweat and train muscles... Well it trains legs and stomach. That's where I feel it.

The rest I have to do manually.

Goresplatter 06-30-2011 04:41 AM

Playing Mortal Kombat makes me sweat. Jesus that game is intense sometimes.

My workout is simple. 4 sets of the following in quick succession;
10 Pull-ups (get a pull-up bar, really awesome)
10 Press-ups
20 Weighted Russian-twists (was originally 10, upped it due to weirdly strong abs =/)
10 Weighted squats (10kg per hand)

All that once a day and followed with a protein shake. It won't make you a spartan but since I started I'm noticing some very nice tone, and that I'm not such a weed any more.

On a side note, the best workout I've ever done was when I was excavating for my archaeology course. Using a mattock and a shovel to dig out about a metre and a half cubed of earth, which often includes pure clay and occasionally sandstone, is incredible for the biceps and back. Doing that once a day for two weeks made me feel powerful by the end. :p

Mac Sirloin 06-30-2011 08:40 PM

Stretch
Find Ottoman full of boardgames
20 squats with such
20 Proper 'lifts' (mostly practice for work)
20+ lying down benchpresses/lifts
10 Sit ups
Lots and lots of walking
stretch again

Are you losing weight?

Not sure who you were talking to - in case it was me, I'm actually gaining weight, as I'm taking protein shakes and working for muscle - I'm too weedy, if I lost any more weight I think I would start getting hurt by light magic, just sayin'. :p

MA 07-03-2011 05:08 PM

best way to get into shape is to just do hard, physical work. that way you're actually doing something whilst exercising and can make yourself feel useful by looking at how much work you've done, learning basic skills along the way. something as simple as learning to hammer nails without missing or bending it is something that will certainly come in handy many times in various points in life.

since i left agriculture behind i've gotten out of shape, and the shitty factory work isn't anything i'm used to, so my body has sort of deteriorated and i've gained a beer belly. i used to be so healthy and generally happy, now i just feel like shit all the time. i keep busy after working hours and on weekends doing odd jobs for friends and family as a sort of handy man, but its no where near as much work as i used to do, therefore not enough.

yes, i had to bring farming into it again. i know.

STM 07-04-2011 04:08 AM

Maybe it's a little of topic but do you eventually want to own your own farm? Because that would be quite cool...although there isn't much money in it. As we know to our expense.

moxco 07-04-2011 06:00 AM

I lose wait whilst browsing the forums.

STM 07-04-2011 06:37 AM

Can you imagine having one of those at work in an office or something?

That looks so ridiculously distracting. Wouldn't it make typing (as well as writing, actually) really really annoying?

it'd be great to have a small piece of land and a couple of heifers, but they're expensive animals to keep and look after. it's too much to ask these days, anyway.

well i do have a pipe now, so you can sit on my knee and i'll tell you all about my farming days if you like.

STM 07-07-2011 04:33 AM

Yay, and I can regail you with my own family stories of farming, but I don't know if you'd be able to sit on my knee.

MeechMunchie 07-07-2011 06:58 AM

Have you considered investing in a chair?

MA 07-09-2011 06:07 AM

chairs are for communists.

STM 07-09-2011 03:05 PM

THE CAPITALIST SCUM SIT ON THE FLOORS OF THE PROLETARIAT! MAN YOUR CHAIRS BROTHERS MAY NO COMRADE FEEL A COLD ARSE!

enchilado 07-09-2011 10:37 PM

I seriously and urgently need to gain weight. I'm about 5'7" and only weigh about 47kg. I'm like a fucking Ethiopian.

I just don't know where to start, though.
