Wings of Fire 06-07-2011 04:43 PM

I trust Nintendo, I'll definitely be keeping my eyes on it.

Mr. Bungle 06-07-2011 04:44 PM

Oh, I do, too. They're probably the most reliable gaming company these days. I guess "innovative" is the proper noun here.

Mac Sirloin 06-07-2011 04:54 PM

I'm genuinely interested to see what exactly Halo 4 is about. It looks neat, but it'll probably be MECHA GRAVEMIND or some shit.

Halo HD looks laughable. Don't get me wrong, I love the first Halo to death, it's just that transition from the original version to the remake made chief look dorky. I should watch that trailer again.

Wii U? Ehhhhh. Okay. Since it has the Wii library and all. I remember being fucking NUTS about the DS and the Wii back when they were announced in their respective years, but not so much this time. I'm most interested in the Vita. I'd like to see what they do with it.

Mr. Bungle 06-07-2011 04:55 PM

Is the Wii U gonna be like the first 8th generation game system or something? Or is it a 4th 7th gen console? I'm confused about that.

Daxter King 06-07-2011 05:02 PM

Wii U looks to have a ton of 360/PS3 ports as its main attraction.

Why would anyone who owns a 360 or PS3 want to buy the Wii U? It really seems Nintendo is just trying to play catchup with this, and not thinking very far ahead, especially since they will likely be in a similar situation to what they have been, when the PS4/Nextbox come out. A non-multitouch tablet that is about as powerful as 360/PS3 doesn't sound too exciting.

STM 06-07-2011 05:14 PM

This will not work for FPS

Mac Sirloin 06-07-2011 05:15 PM

I have to agree, I mean, Kinect works. It's literally quite amazing. The Wii U is like the unnecessary halfway point between Wii/Move and Kinect.

And I read on IGN that there's a nunchuk-like peripheral that is held up and aimed at the little screen on the main Wii U controller in order to aim on the system itself or something. What the shit is that?

Daxter King 06-07-2011 05:22 PM

I dont even know what that second paragraph is trying to explain. Though the ME3/Ghost Recon Kinect features definitely looked cool as hell, and they look to be fixing the space problem with some lens add-ons. I think MS went in the right direction, though Im still mad at them for almost completely forgetting the 40 something million 360 owners without Kinect.

Havoc 06-07-2011 05:34 PM

It's a shame Nintendo doesn't see what's happening here. The Wii was a product that in no-way on par with it's same gen competitors, the only think that it had an edge on was the new motion tech. Only to have that 'borrowed' from them, improved upon and released on both other consoles, making the Wii almost absolute if it weren't for the exclusive titles.

The same is going to happen here. Once again Nintendo feels the need to pioneer in everything. They come out with a new concept. Competition looks at it, waits out it's flaws and a couple of months later come up with their own version, leaving Nintendo to bite the dust. I'm not going anywhere near the Wii U, that's for sure. That controller looks horrible.

Wings of Fire 06-07-2011 06:02 PM

A couple of months?

Surely you mean three or so years, by which time the wii has made a huge profit.

NEITHER DO I!

Strike Witch 06-07-2011 09:09 PM

So the Wii U's 3rd party footage is all from 360/PS3 trailers. Way to go Nintendo.

Phylum 06-07-2011 09:24 PM

Square Enix have said that there will be no Kingdom Hearts news at E3 despite saying there would be on their website. We have to wait until the Tokyo Game Show.

Trying to say that the Wii U can produce them graphics for them games?

And I knew people would hate on the Wii U but I can see why, I don't wanna get into a console war again because I would happly get a Xbox and PS3 if i had enough room and money.

Ugh what is it trying to be? Next-gen PSPDSWiipadHD is what!

Nintendo wants to attract more of a hardcore audience such as the Xbox and PS3 players.
Its more like a Next-Gen Wii HD with better third party support. In no way its a PSP but i guess its like a DS.

I understood that comment to mean that they were taken from the 360/PS3 trailers and didn't say a fucking thing about the Wii U.

Dixanadu 06-08-2011 02:30 AM

Ninja Gaiden 3, fuck yes. Nothing like killing giant, ridiculously hard bosses!

Still alarmed at lack of Half Life Ep 3. Wat u at valve, making another Left 4 Dead DLC? Get off your fucking hole and make a real game.

Also, anyone else notice the Halo: CE remake has the same animations as Reach with reskinned enemies? I loved how the swamp level looked, I'm looking forward to it more than Halo 4. It was a trilogy, keep it that way.

Call of Duty didn't impress me, as always.

I wanted to see more of Mass Effect 3, though. Oh, and that zombie tropical island thing looked sweet.

I agree. It's clear they borrowed that idea from the PSP-PS3 and the iPad, but it doesn't look remotely comfortable to hold at all. How are people supposed to play Call of Duty or Mario Galaxy 3 on that monstrosity?

STM 06-08-2011 04:07 AM

Ok I'm not going to lie, as watched the Wii U trailer I went from hating it to being intrigued in what they will do. If you watch it's actually an interesting platform. But I did laugh at 1:25 when it said get new views and it showed her looking down at a gold ball in the dirt. GRREEEAATTT!

Oh and lets not forget the Zelda HD trailer that they added in as well.

So for me, the two things I will take away from E3 is what the Wii U becomes and of course, Tomb Raider!

Jordan 06-08-2011 06:04 AM

Tomb Raider looks brilliant, I was well impressed :D

STM 06-08-2011 06:28 AM

The same here, the graphics are absolutely stunning and having a gander at a younger Lara - how she became what she is today - will provide a much needed background. The only thing that threw me is how did she get her hands on an iPhone when - if this is a back story - it should take place before 1998?

It's a reboot that throws the original backstory out the window. The original premise was that she'd crashlanded in the Himalayas and was the only survivor.

Don't be too impressed by the graphics. The trailers I've seen so far have only been pre-rendered.

STM 06-08-2011 06:43 AM

Ah. But then, why bother re-writing the story, it makes the whole franchise seem flimsy.

(Although I always thought that TR1 Himalayas level wasn't the beginning of her career.)

Jordan 06-08-2011 06:54 AM

They've re-written the story a few times. In the original storyline Lara had been on adventures prior to the Peru levels in TR1, it says she'd been to find Bigfoot. As far as I'm aware the same happened with Anniversary. Looks like this is a complete reboot, which I'm glad of to be honest, the Legend/Underworld storyline was a little poor.

And the graphics even in gameplay are stunning.

Wil 06-08-2011 08:23 AM

Who really cares about the precise nature of the backstory? The important point is she gets marooned alone and learns how to survive, kickstarting her lifelong love of adventure.

It's all about the Broad Strokes, people!

E3 snippets:

:

We haven’t killed Mirror’s Edge. We’re actively looking at how to bring it back in the right way. We love that franchise. The DICE guys really created something I think special the first time around. You’ve got to have a big idea to be able to do the next one and that’s what we’re working on.

Good news there.

This is from XCOM (FPS remake). I don't care about the game, but I'm mighty impressed that modern graphics can do this.

Y'know that video where diffrent developers were talking about the Wii U, Is it sad i was expecting Gabe Newell to be in it?
