I'm not big on nationalism either. I don't really care until someone starts judging me simply on the basis of where I was born. Keep in mind he wasn't overtly in favor of nationalism either. A big part of the class was how nationalism led to most of the world conflicts within the past 400 years or so.

to be fair, i heard on the news what Cameron said not longer after i made those posts, and realised it wasn't quite the dream statement i was thinking of. i don't know why i thought it would be a well-balanced proposal, seeing as its David 'The Cunt' Cameron.

Patriotism is only good when there's a war on, so that people will want to fight for the glory of their country etc. etc. I dislike the whole concept.

I'm cautious about what I'm patriotic towards. I believe that my country has the potential for real progressive change, but it's being influenced so heavily by the religious and the right wing that nobody knows shit about... shit... anymore. I'm descriptive!
