This sounds like a surprisingly good insult.

You'd be surprised.

When I watched the show on a semi-regular basis I was a very different person from who I am now. I probably thought he was a girly loser.

hahahahahahahahahaha

ha

I would have thought you'd be more of a Jimmy man.

Annoying as all hell. May he/whatever suffer.

My favorite character is Plank, of course.

Charisma, that guy had.

Mac Sirloin 01-14-2011 01:52 PM

Ed all the way. Fuck, I was Ed in my group growing up.

Wings of Fire 01-14-2011 01:57 PM

I was Double-D.

Does this make OANST Eddy?

I'm on Team Plank too. I liked the fact he had a family. Until Eddy decapitated them, the bastard.

I was horrified when that happened. Plank was never the same.

Dynamithix 01-14-2011 02:29 PM

My favourite was Edd.

Havoc 01-14-2011 03:33 PM

Pretty much all the cartoons that aired on Cartoon Network back in the 90's. With Dexter's Lab, Cow and Chicken, Johny Bravo, Dragonball Z and Two Stupid Dogs at the top of the list.

shaman 01-14-2011 03:43 PM

I liked Ed Edd n Eddy, cow and chicken and all th classics. Hell i still like the Edds, i see myself as Ed.

Tub of gravy.

OANST 01-15-2011 09:50 AM

Watch the entirety of Jimmy's dream, and tell me that the animation isn't fantastic.

ziggy 01-16-2011 08:33 AM

It does look good, that's true. I was on my period the other day.

T-nex 01-16-2011 08:51 AM

I guess i liked Dexters laboratory, Courage the cowardly dog, I also liked Two Stupid dogs :D
Oh and Dungeons and Dragons.

And there was this cartoon that i keep forgetting the name of, but I used to love it to death as a kid(i was really really young, so thats why i dont remember).

It was an adventure cartoon about a purple guy who could transform into many things. From what I read it was like an environment-awareness cartoon sorta.

Oh... And sailor moon :D Watched it on the german channel. That was before I ever knew what Anime was. I just liked sparkly things and evil demons.

Oh and when I grew a bit older I really favored the batman cartoon.

And Lilo and Stitch. SO fok ya'll!! >: (

Oh and the godzilla cartoon. With baby-godzilla.

Please remember the name of it soon, it sounds ridiculously familiar to me but I cannot for the life of me place it.

ziggy 01-16-2011 09:39 AM

Are you talking about Captain Planet? That's the only thing I can think of since you said environment-awareness.

Damn.. I found it. I looked up a 80s/90s cartoon list.

http://www.patrickdf.com/cartoons/widget.html

Dunno if it is what you were thinking of. But it's what I was talking about.

I actually have no idea what it's about. I only went by what I remember reading about it when I remembered the name. It's such a friggin long time I watched it. I think it aired on TCC/TCN or something like that.

Edit: Oh and for about 3 months, pokemon was my favorite toon when it aired on the German channel :D In the span of the three months I blew all my allowance on an ugly pikacu stuffed toy that's fat and looks like an egg for some reason. It's so ridiculous. Soon after that, my excitement died. Hm.. probably my most short-lived fad ever.

Nope, doesn't ring a bell.

Now this is gonna bother me for ages. What cartoons did I watch as a kid involving purple shapeshifters?

T-nex 01-16-2011 09:59 AM

What exactly do you remember from it?

Manco 01-16-2011 10:02 AM

Nothing really, but the concept just sparks something in my mind.

Never mind, I'll probably run across it years from now and think "hey, that was an awful show".

T-nex 01-16-2011 10:04 AM

Hm... Well maybe you've just put together bits and pieces from several shows. That sometimes happens with me X_x

Wings of Fire 01-16-2011 10:04 AM

Sounds like Ned's Newt, but he was blue.

T-nex 01-16-2011 10:06 AM

Damn... I watched Ned's Newt too now that you mention it.

Manco 01-16-2011 10:12 AM

Ned's Newt sounds vaguely familiar, but that's not it.

Going through a list of British kid's shows, I came across The Wombles, Through the Dragon's Eye and El Nombre. Those last two were BBC educational things, but damn if they weren't great.

EDIT: Fuck, The Forgotten Toys. That thing had me in tears.

Wow, I remember that too. But beyond him turning into things, and what he looked like, I don't remember what actually went on in the show.

T-nex 01-16-2011 01:13 PM

Me neither... Which is exactly why it took me a long while before I found it... It was always in my mind from time to time. Cos the cartoon had left an imprint I guess.. What with watching it at such a young age and stuff.

Yes. I can just about remember seeing this episode:
:

The first episode is a feature-length story that begins with Teddy and Annie in adjacent dustbins, sometime after Christmas. They have been thrown out to make room for new, more exciting toys. They cannot understand why this has happened to them. Before long, the refuse truck comes along and they narrowly escape being crushed. So begins their journey to find another child to love them. They meet an old stray dog, (voiced by Sir Clement Freud) who shelters them in the basement of a Hotel. They soon grow bored sitting there all day. Eventually the old dog inadvertently causes the basement to flood, and the toys have to escape again.

They meet up again with the old dog who takes them to see an old man with a long white beard (parallels with another such gentleman can be made). He deposits them outside a school, whereupon they are scooped up by the noisy children as they run out of school. The last sequence shows them happy in a new home.
What that description doesn't include is the sad closing shot of the old man and the dog being left behind by the toys. That fucking shot is the single most upsetting memory I have.

That's weird, some of the voices aren't as I remember them. Was this made separately from the normal episodes, since this one seems like a special episode or something?

Ed, Edd n Eddy actually continued until 2009; that episode is probably a newer episode that was made after you were a kid. Probably some voice actor changes or something like that.

OANST 01-17-2011 05:58 AM

It's not so much that there were changes in voice actors (although the person who does Naz does get switched out early on), but that the voice actors got better at voicing their characters. This happens in almost all long running shows that use voice actors. Consider Dale from King of the Hill. Same voice actor. Almost completely different tone and intonation by the end.
