Love it that they're bringing out a re-make, I seem to be one of few that's satisfied. And I don't even have a PS3 nor will I probably get one in the foreseeable future. =( Ah well

If and when this releases on the 360 I'll be damn sure to snag it. I really can't wait.

Oh, well. Okay. I'll buy it, because I can't stand playing SW on my HD tv with my SD XBox, as it gets really blurry whenever I move, and gives me a headache. Still, I thought we were getting a new game. Oh, well.

there have been NO "new" Oddworld titles on ANY PlayStation system since Abe's Exoddus back in 1998, so it'll be 13 years between that and getting Stranger out on PS3. THAT is what I was referring to.

We cannot talk about the re-releases of AO and AE on PS3/PSP as those are the original PS1 games.

It wasn't me saying "Oddworld are on PS and are staying ONLY on PS" now was it?! you guys REALLY need to stop reading between the lines and read everything as the words that are used :p

I know I shouldn't get riled, but when people say they are "Pissed" or are "mad" I don't like that, especially when they come to these conclusions from reading between damned lines...

You are a shining golden knight saving us from the horrors of not having Oddworld. Don't forget that, and know that those that don't love you already will indeed come to in time.

But the new Stranger IS PS3 exclusive. That's what I got from the announcement, that's what the entire forum got from the announcement and that's what a dozen of game news websites got from the announcement.

If you didn't mean to say that the games will be exclusive to one console then step out of your office, walk down the hallways and go slap your PR department silly until they are bleeding because then they fucked up badly.

And regardless, console exclusiveness is stupid in this day and age. I could understand you guys using Stranger HD as a jumping board to get Oddworld on the map again before you release the projects that are actually new. But doing that and then putting it on only 1 console is sheer stupidity from a marketing standpoint. You're cutting off 2/3 of the market you could be servicing and please don't tell me you're expecting people to buy a 400 dollar console to play the PSN remake of a game that was released in 2005.

And marketing aside, yes I'm pissed it's PS3 exclusive because now I won't be able to play it on my 360.

Meh; I'm a bit disappointed, but it'll be fun the see what the remake looks like, who knows....maybe it'll be a vast improvement compared to the original. But I do hope these projects their working on aren't all remakes. :/

Do you not think it might be to do with Microsoft cutting their contract with oddworld? which caused them to lie low for years? If anything there should NOT be an xbox360 game!!

Great point Havoc, you're trying to reintroduce Oddworld to a new market of gamers and you're going to make it an exclusive??

They never said it was exclusive. They just announced it for the PS3 first. He has gone on-record saying that it isn't going to be exclusive, and the link to it has been posted in this very thread.

It'll likely see release on other consoles, it's just coming to PSN first. That happens with a lot of the big Arcade games. One console gets it before the others. Sometimes a week before the others. Sometimes a month or two.

That was my point about slapping the PR department silly. If it's not going to be exclusive they shouldn't have written a release announcement that focused so heavily on the PS3 release without mentioning it will be released for other platforms later.

Fact is that a lot of game news sites are drawing the conclusion that it will be PS3 exclusive. True or not, the announcement causes confusion.

I still haven't played Strangers Wrath or in fact Munch's Oddysee since I had a PS2. Now I have a 360 so i'll wait snatch up the remake if possible.

This is great news, I've been wanting to play Stranger's Wrath for a while.

Is it a full remake, or just a port with slightly better graphics?

I'm really embarrassed to be a fan of Oddworld right now. What pricks inhabit these forums! JAW just started working on Oddworld less than a year ago, and they already have several projects they plan to release. Just because OWI has disappointed you in the past, doesn't mean you should take it out on this small company that is trying to make you guys happy.

I'm super psyched about this announcement! Stranger's Wrath was poorly marketed, and we all know it's a great game. Let's get some fresh new fans excited about Oddworld... maybe some that are actually grateful.

All I could really do to console Gilrod is point him in the direction of the Team Fortress 2 Steam User's Forums when a big new update comes out.

After seeing that, he'll consider himself lucky. At least these forum members are making valid points and aren't yelling about hats every three seconds.


I'm quite excited for the announcement. Agreed that I was expecting something different, I'm super happy that I can finally get my friends (most of whom have PS3s) to play this game that I keep telling them about.
If the game is not exclusive to PS3 and ends up being released on Xbox 360 (similar to Scott Pilgrim vs The World), I will purchase it, however I was planning on buying a PS3 when The Last Guardian is released anyway so I'm not all that bothered either way.


I guess all we can do at this point is wait some more. Now that it's announced, I'm looking forward to some propers screenshots of the game, to see how it all will look.

My guess is that they're taking the original dialogue that was recorded and putting it back in to the game at a higher quality bitrate.

No one has said it is exclusive for PS3.

But the game IS a big game at over 2GB.
