Is it true that 'Lo fos oh shegged ve' is the worst insult I can use to a Hungarian? Or was that just specific to my grandmother?

I think that's a common one, probably the equal of 'Up yours!' or its similar versions, but more elaborately detailed. And that last part is 'be' instead of 've'.

Then again, is there a 'worst insult' in English? Kinda subjective, I think.

Well, telling someone to go get fucked by a horse would be considered... fairly bad.

Wil 01-24-2010 03:36 AM

But entering the realms of cartoon violence.

Naulahauta 01-24-2010 03:40 AM

Finnish, English and Swedish.

True, won't argue with that. I only meant whether can we name "the worst insult" in any language or not.

Either way folks, reserve the example mentioned by Nate for those people who you really want to insult.

MeechMunchie 01-24-2010 11:55 AM

Tell you what's an awesome foriegn phrase: Estonian for 'Twelve Months'.

'Kaks-teist kuud'

Like all well-traveled and learned Australians, I speak numerous only one language: English.

Alcar...

Jimmy-le-sniper 01-25-2010 04:52 AM

I can speak French (my mother tongue), English (of course :D), a little bit of German and some words of Japanese. And if this can be considered as a "language", then I also speak "Franc-Comtois".

Mostly like French peoples but with some particularities that makes peoples from Paris goes like :fuzconf: :

- We always put "the" before someone's name :
"I just received an E-mail from the Claude. / I was on the phone with the Pascal"

- We tend to make fun of other peoples accent (from Paris, Marseille,etc...), even though we have our very own one:happy:

- We have tons of words and expressions for our beloved cheeses, sausages and wines as well. And also some for the weather...

- And in general, almost every "a" like in "car" is pronounced somewhere in the middle of "aw" in "awful" and "o" in "goal". That's our main characteristic. We get recognized because of this every time.

"aw" in "awful"

American or British pronunciation?

MeechMunchie 01-25-2010 07:56 AM

When an American tells me something is awful I tend to think they are talking about organ meat.

Wil 01-25-2010 09:09 AM

What you do to Valley girls when they piss you off? Awesome.

Or something.

OANST 01-25-2010 11:49 AM

I'm still American, yes.

Wil 01-25-2010 01:32 PM

An American comes to Britain and declares "I'm well odd."

Punchline.

Jimmy-le-sniper 01-25-2010 04:42 PM

[Imitates TF2 Engineer] Dammit dagnabbit dagit nabit dammit ! OK, I quit :p

I'll say English pronunciation, even though I can figure the difference between the two possibilities

MeechMunchie 01-26-2010 08:23 AM

British say 'Oarful', Americans say 'Ahful'. Does that help?

All you people better have gotten my last post's wordplay.

OANST 01-26-2010 08:53 AM

I can only speak English sadly.

I can speak it sadly, gladly, furiously, melancholy, sexily, and the list goes on. What a horrible life you must have.

Wings of Fire 02-19-2010 08:14 AM

You mean you can speak English melancholically, right gramps?

OANST 02-19-2010 01:08 PM
