I think the term 'survival of the fitest' pretty much sums up the predicament.
If you didn't kick up a fuss when the enemy invaded, you got killed. Hence we are decendants of invaders and will continue to invade.
I heard about this race of isolated non-agressive people somewhere in Asia (I think, let me know if you've heard of something similar) that don't even have a word for 'fighting', and never partake in competitions either.
The developed world stepped in on their little sancutary and now they're dying out.
Solution? I really can't think of one that isn't full of holes.

I don't know, I think that if World Peace was achieved then war will end and everyone will fornicate with one another even more, because no-one hates anyone and then we will have no resources to feed ourselves with and die.
