2 is pretty fucking awesome. I expected it to be different from the first one, but I didn't expect it to be as different as it is. It's a much different experience. In a good way.
It's very hectic, and you feel like you're in a mini horde at all times. The zombies are much more aggressive, and the Special Infected seem to be better at hiding. Plus, the "events" are insane compared to the first. |

Oh, and I didn't think Valve had it in them to make the bots even more stupid then they were in L4D1, but they did it. The bots are officially braindead in this game. You can be pinned by a hunter right next to them and they will do absolutely nothing. Heck I've seen bots running through insta-kill fires (you know, the scripted fires when you open a door in the hotel) and another bot running in after him to revive him. It was hilarious and sad both at the same time. |

Which is exactly why I don't understand why they ignored all those patches and improvements and shot them through the head again :S.

I'm not that wild about the game. I love Coach, and...That's about it. The AI Director just seems like too big a prick this time around. I mean, come on, a spitter, hunter, AND charger in the middle of a fucking 'event'?
Bullshit, I say. Would have been tolerable in co-op. In single player with the aforementioned braindead bots? Fucking horrible. |
I can typically make it through an entire campaign on normal with only using 1 med kit in the first L4D. In this one, I find myself using about 6 or 7 a campaign. I use all of mine, and end up with the AI healing me. It is definitely relentlessly difficult.
I got my ass handed to me on Dark Carnival twice last night. Both times at the roller coaster. I switched the difficulty down to easy, and beat it, but I still took a fair amount of damage. |
The campaigns are undo-able with the bots, simply because they are so stupid. With other players it's a lot less difficult but still harder than the original.
Also, after playing some more versus I can without a doubt say that the infected are overpowered to the point where overpowered is an understatement. |
The only campaign I've finished was Heavy Rain. Mostly because the other campaigns just didn't hold my interest and I quit out of boredom.
Dark Carnival was fun, but I ragequit after three attempts on the rollercoaster. On normal. |
