Lets just be sure not to limit applicable awards to people who have posted pics, which would automatically disqualify a large portion of participants and automatically qualify me for best hair.

While you do have awesome curly hair that sends the ladies swooning, the position is relative to what the voters think are good qualities that hair should have.
Meh. Which begs the question what is "good" hair? No hair? :p |
Wil, help me out on this one.

I've got one, how about member 'Most Frequently Present'? Does the database have stats like that?
|
It’s certainly an idea to hand out awards based on statistics such as ‘Highest poster of 2008’ or ‘Most frequently present’, but assuming no ties there can only ever be one recipient of each award, because each title comes with a winner whose superiority in that field is matter of look-upable fact. The awards are really about voting on your fellow members for more subjective awards. Still, if Peter were to give me database access I’d be more than happy to dish out some stats-based honours.
Categories should also focus on users and their contribution to the Forums. ‘Best hair’ has nothing to do with posting here. Besides, Bullet Magnet would win ‘Best hair’ because he has the best hair. That is in your precious database, sirs. |

Person who never gets the joke? Best change-of-heart? Best 'Awwww' post? Captain Cockblock? |

I would like to point out that there is still no list in the first post.

Probably because all of these suggestions suck.
|
Best blog.
Best blog entry. Best blog commenter. And variations of the theme. We have blogs now, and unlike the new rep system we can actually give awards based on them that we couldn't have before. |
Best Blog has already made the final list of awards. The second two suggestions probably won't because there are so many that there's little chance of any voted entry/comment not being both joint first and joint last.
|
What if there are nominations?
|
Then there’s the issue of whether all categories become nominate-vote, or whether the nominations take place while the non-nomination categories are being voted upon, or whether there are nominations that take place before all the voting.
There’s also the issue of all the hassle. We could try it, see how the effort compares to the outcome, and judge its worthiness for future Awardses. |

Ask everyone who's been here since 2002. I've left and came crawling back so many times I should be a mascot for People Who Have Trouble Letting Go Of The Past. |

I won an award for most missed member here years and years ago.
