So I had to start a new game because my first space stage thing was screwed up. I was broke and everyone was at war with me.
Apparently being violent in space stage is a one-way ticket to failure. In my new game I decided to ally more and now I'm doing much better. I like the whole spice trading thing, although not long ago I had some assholes force me to pay some money so I won't go to war with them. Considering how I have so many allies, I don't think I should be worried about going to war with them, still thinking about it. Oh, and killing little tribes with lazors is fun as hell :P. |
Guh. It doesn't seem to auto download, and as far as I'm aware I've not set it to not auto-donwload. Only 1600-odd creatures in the everything tab, the rest I have to manually download. Which would be no problem if I could search the Sporepedia, but al li can see is the 8 most recent creations, and every tiem I try to search it fails to connect.

You should set automatic delete on so you've always got a fresh supply.

Sorry, I got the impression that you weren't downloading anything because you'd met an apparent and not-inconsiderable quota of 1600.
|
First patch is out. Apparently it solves all the above problems.
|
I'm called Cheesebob,
Fear my totally crap creatures which i made in about 5 minutes :D |
I'm getting it this Thursday but i don't think i'll be able to play 'til next Tuesday :(
|
The patch also causes new problems, from what I've heard, so I shall wait till the patch is patched.
|
But what if the patched patch requires patching? Will you wait for the patched patch patch?
read: get over it |
I'm in Space and getting really quite shitty about how often I get attacked.
I wouldn't mind so much if it was half fun, but I can't get more than three or four minutes into the game before I have to jump back, fight some absurdly overpowered pirates and get killed about three times. I can't even upgrade my ship because I don't ever get enough the time to play the game and get enough money before having to return home and defend. Right now, I'm bribing my allies to kill off my enemies. I'm too weak to do it myself. |
Dear God, it's like Blizzard all over again!
WATCH OUT FOR FLYING MOONKINS! |
Precisely.
I think. I has played it but my stoopid arse computer keeps freezing in the space stage :( I'm quite rich though :D Who else has been to STEVE? |
Well well well.. i think this is the better thread to make my first post here. So so so.. Hi everybody \o/
Hum, well, so, Spore.. it's a nice game, but.. the only real interest i found in is the Creature phase. Space phase is boring because we can't go out of our spaceship, tribal phase is boring because it's a kind of RTS gameplay, Civ Phase is REALLY boring because we can't have the control of our creatures.. just some vehicles, in RTS gameplay, again. Cellular phase is pretty nice though, but the real part of the game, in my opinion, is in the creature phase. Well, i'm actually working on an Oddworld Project on Spore. I'll try to make EVERY oddworld things i can do. Creatures (most of them are in a "native form", because i made them to be played in Creature Phase. But you are free to use them in tribal, civ and space phase if you want to. Just edit them in the correct editor ^^) vehicles, buildings.. Chroniclers, Kintos, etc, are also included of course. So, here is my Profile: http://www.spore.com/view/profile/ICronyI And here is my oddworld Sporecast (i think it's, actually, the most complete oddworld sporecast): http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=ssc-500042511211 Ps: Some of the creatures i've made (only a few ones, like the paramite, who is originally from Conceit) are just a re-make of some other people creations. I apologize for that. Ps2: Oh, also, i'm french so, sorry if sometimes my english is a little huh.. you know.. bad. |
Actually, your posts sound more coherent than half the people who post here, in my opinion ^_^
I can't wait til the project's complete! (nice slig by the way) |
Thanks ^^
About the project, i've not played the xbox versions yet.. so, maybe that some creatures will be forgotten. When I would think that this will be finished, I would post here, and if some creature is missing, I'm counting on you (all the members of the forum) to give me the name of the missing creatures and, if it's possible, a picture ^^. |
So I finally bought Spore yesterday.
I had little expectations, so they were initially exceeded very nicely. It's like Creatures on acid. I love the cell and the creature stage. However, when I got to the tribal stage, I just thought "huh. I don't really like this kind of game". Mabye I'm just yet to fully get it, but tribal stage FTL for the moment. Is the space stage anything like it? edit: Crony, some of your creature are very good! Steef, feather fuzzle and meetle are the ones I remember well. nice work. |
Well, actually Steef, Feather Fuzzle and Meetle are not made by me, but i've found them very nice done so i put them on my sporecast ^^ i'll do them too, but later ^^.
About the space stage.. it's not like Tribal stage. But civilisation stage is. Space stage is special, but due to the fact that we can't get out of our spaceship, it makes the game lose some interest. That's my opinion ^^ |

As for Space; things have improved a lot since I wiped out the race that was warring on me. I have the superpower of converting an entire planet in a millisecond, which makes that easy. Now I just ignore pirates and dealing with the damnable Grok. |
I've been playing creature stage, and while I enjoy the gameplay, I'm close to giving up. Because I see nothing anywhere but fucking Maxis creatures. I've downloaded stuff, it's in my Sporepedia, I've created stuff, but nothing appears other than Maxis. I've hunted 2 species to extinction because they appeared everywhere, and hoped that killing them would provide new species.
I lvoe the game, but I hate the creature content. 58 creatures encountered so far. 55 are Maxis, 3 are creatures that were auto downloaded when I got the game that i didn't even choose to donwload. I so dearly wish you could ban Maxis creatures. Spore is about the massively multiplayer sharing aspect, yet I've yet to experience it to any degree. |
When you start a game, you have to choose a theme for the game. It can be Maxis (most of the encountered creatures will be from Maxis) "My creations" or the name of one of your friends, or a sporecast. I think your problem comes from here. You must have the Maxis theme on ^^. The only way to change that is to restart a game ^^ hope it'll help you.
|
Whenever i start a new game, there's no theme available except for 'No theme' :(
Still, i manage to find creatures other than Maxis ones... And then i eat them |
Well, if you do not have an available theme, it means that you have no friends on the game, no sporecasts and no created creatures as well. Or maybe a glitch D: But actually there is no theme for the "download section" of the sporepedia. Just "Friends", "Sporecasts"and "My creations".
|
So how on earth do you request for things you've downloaded to appear?
|
Well, the game do it automatically when you select a theme, to fill in the theme. But the main encountered creatures will be selected with the theme. I mean if you have the no theme, the majority of the encountered creatures will be from Maxis, and if you select the "My creations" theme, it'll be your creations in priority, and downloaded creatures in a second time.
|
Haven't got this game yet, found it for $80 at JBHIFI, but I'm not too sure, does it download much on the internet, because I have prepaid internet, and am busy playing the witcher untill school starts tommorrow, and then will spend my non preparing for year 12 time that I have on weekends to play fable 2, so I'm not too sure about getting it.
Probably will eventually, my brother loved the sims 2 and civilasation, and I'm aware Spore basically rips this, and more off, but I'm sure he'll enjoy it. The space stage seems great, if I get the game, that's what it'll be for. |
I can't give you numbers but it doesn't download a huge amount from the internet. Maybe a few megabytes every time you run it.
That said, I finally got to the centre of the galaxy and can thus officially say that it's not worth buying. It's only fun as a game of designing creatures, buildings and crafts. What you actually do with them is boring as batshit. |

A confirms Creepy & Cute Parts Pack for November 18, with Space stage slated for spring 2009.
GameStop's listing for Spore Creepy & Cute Parts Pack is back, and this time it's official. Along with officially announcing today the first add-on pack for Will Wright and Maxis' evolution simulator Spore--10 days after it was spotted in the specialty retailer's online database--EA also revealed the game's first expansion, which will focus on the Space Age. As previously reported, the Creepy & Cute Parts Pack will be available for PCs and Macs beginning November 18. The add-on will include in excess of 100 new creature-building parts that will fall in line with the titular theme. The parts, available in the game's Creature Creator, include components for the body, as well as paint options, animations, and backgrounds. |
