MA 02-08-2008 04:48 AM

excuse my ignorance, but what are Pikelets?

Strike Witch 02-08-2008 04:54 AM

Like Pancakes, but smaller and thicker.

Atleast, that's what I think they are.

MA 02-08-2008 04:57 AM

if there the ones im thinking of (you can buy them in the supermarket), then i do like them. burn easy while grilling though.

Jordan 02-08-2008 10:01 AM

Piclets are also known as crumpets for the people who don't know what they are. And yes, they are nice. :)

Wings of Fire 02-08-2008 10:02 AM

And you can eat them with marmite. (Ever tried eating a pancake with marmite?)

MA 02-08-2008 01:25 PM

thats disturbing.

@Jordan: crumpets are tasty.

I once made the mistake of tasting Marmite. I hate Marmite. Bollocks it’s like soy sauce.

Also, crumpets are heavenly.
Additionally, I loooooove <em> tags.

Hobo 02-09-2008 09:39 AM

I had pancakes for breakfast this morning. Ace.

Jordan 02-09-2008 10:44 AM

Marmite? That's disgusting. Butter just goes with them. :D

i tried to find a strange fact about Marmite, like 'did you know that Marmite contains a highly unstable ingredient that is also used as a trigger product in Anti-Tank mines?', but amazingly i found Nil.

actually, call me a liar 'cus i did find this frightening poster;
8922
that proves my theory that Marmite is work of the Devil (chef).

only ever had crumpets with butter...all i know...i'm simple.

Bullet Magnet 02-09-2008 07:04 PM

What? You didn't even try.

:

In 2000 the noted lateral thinker Edward de Bono advised the U.K Foreign Office committee that the Arab-Israeli conflict might be due, in part, to low levels of zinc found in people who eat unleavened bread, a known side-effect of which is aggression. He suggested shipping out jars of Marmite to compensate.

skillyaslig 02-09-2008 07:51 PM

Yes, pancake or picklet, its all good. I don't really eat crumpets, because they are different from picklets, they are too holey for me, though they taste good with cream and raspberry jam...when ever mum buys them.
Anyway, now that we know that some people like odd flavours, has anyone tried Vegemite and honey? Its actually really good, all sour and sweet. I eat it all the time with weetbix, and with Pancakes when my mum makes them, Cause when ever I make them they go all weird shaped, never circlular. XD ahh well, they still taste good. Don't like marmite, smells too funky.

funny you say that, i have tried that Vegemite stuff, and i thought it tasted like a stronger version of Marmite, like for Marmite 'heavyweights'. but i've never tried it with anything else, the first time i could feel my teeth being ripped from my skull.

in other news, i tried to make pancakes with self raising flour once, instead of plain, that was...unusual.

Leto 02-10-2008 11:31 PM

I had roti bread last night, with lemon butter. It's kind of like pancakes... but tastier.

MA 02-11-2008 04:03 AM

i never knew how ignorant i was towards the 'food realm'. i've never heard of Roti bread.

Bullet Magnet 02-11-2008 06:10 AM

9/10 things that exist have been eaten by somebody. Sometimes those things even become popular with the masses.

That's not even including those things that don't exist until someone has eaten it.

MA 02-11-2008 12:38 PM

*head explodes*

Bullet Magnet 02-11-2008 02:37 PM

I'm not meaning to sound offensive, but I'm pretty sure Roti isn't commonly found on farms and the like.

it's like fatty pastry bread from Indialand

MA 02-12-2008 08:49 AM

you dont find fish & chips on farms either, but it doesn't mean i haven't heard of them. i've never heard of Roti bread because its Indian (as you've pointed out).

And yet you’ve heard of cows.

Bullet Magnet 02-12-2008 04:30 PM

A conundrum.

Hobo 02-12-2008 04:46 PM

Or Cownundrum if i may be so bold.

Bullet Magnet 02-12-2008 05:21 PM

Max would be proud.

skillyaslig 02-12-2008 07:09 PM

who wouldn't be? Bunch of special babies...(second part, same as first base!)
Ahem...anyway, what about chocolate? That is good, all smeared with ground peanuts XD Though, some people have weird stuff like pickels (what are those things, gherkins??) or tomatoes, they must be hard-core, I am timid when it comes to theee pancake.

ziggy 02-12-2008 07:29 PM

I got a free shortstack at ihop today! :D

moxco 02-13-2008 11:13 AM

And yet you’ve heard of cows.

if that was the case, we wouldn't have heard of spuds either, and many other things. i think when something has been in a country for well over 10,000 years, you can safely say it belongs there.
