Well, maybe, I'd prefer a Godzilla 'man in a suit falling hilariously on miniatures' movie then a "Oh crap We're scared and running from something we only saw the foot of" movie.

But that's just me.

I have not seen this film, but I do usually get very annoyed when monsters in monster films are not shown enough. There are exceptions, but sometimes sticking with the ‘seeing less makes it more scary’ idea backfires by drawing attention to itself. Cool monsters should be able to be seen as cool monsters, and it needn’t detract any from the fear/story/character study/whatever they put in films these days (which is to say I don’t see many, and don’t expect to see this one).

From what I hear, it adds to the realism of being caught on camera buy one of the characters. People point, he turns around just in time to see it disappear behind a building.

I saw the movie.

God, I wish this Hud guy was a better cameraman.

Would have been more fun for me, I actually got a little sick some times.

It took me forever to find, but here's a nice clean shot of the monster for all of you whiney little twats.

Suck it.

Truly no words I can think of make that any better.

It's fucking awesome. People who say they need to see the monster more are retards.
Why? Honestly, please give me one decent reason why you feel the movie would be better with more monster shots.
The opening scene was cool, and it didn't go for too long. The movie is about the people, not the fucking monster.
Was great to see with the surround sound blaring at the theatre.

We just never got a GOOD look at the monster, the suspense was all well and good, but you only really get a decent shot of it while they're in the helicopter, and even then...

If it's like The Host I'll like it, even if it's just a little bit. If it's completely brainless with a cool monster it should be fun to watch, but I do hates me some shakeycam. Not nearly as much as I hate multiple shots on one screen ala 24.

The Host was superior, IN MY OPINION, because it was...well..I don;'t know, I just liked it more.

It's not just you! I love all of them old Godzilla films to death. This was the one I have seen most recently.

The Host was pretty fucking awesome, I haven't seen a monster movie recently that has topped it.

I just talked about Asian movies twice in one post!

I found this with some better views of the monster, mostly after the halfway point:

I want to see the movie, I can see where the hand camera action would look good, but I hope too much of the film wouldn't just be flashing chaos and you can't see what's going on. That's not scary, it's annoying.

Facsimile 01-25-2008 04:19 PM

It's not like that really. You get heaps of good looks at what's going on, what's attacking etc. The camera guy focuses on stuff a lot more than I would in that situation. I would be the fuck outta there.

Mac Sirloin 01-26-2008 08:11 AM

I'll ask now, would anyone care if I posted pictures of the monster?

Hobo 01-26-2008 09:44 AM

I would.

I'd consider it spoilers and use that handy new 'posted spoilers' infraction Peter gave me to use.

Considering it's not released here till February I think that's fair

Mac Sirloin 01-26-2008 11:17 AM

Would spoiler tags work on them?

Let's see.

Edit: No, no spoiler tags do not hide images. Disregard this post. Just post the link to the image in spoiler tags chimplople
