Ooh... an educated poster on OWF? We can't have that!

Khomeini is as authoritative on Islam as the Pope is on Catholicism. He is a highly respected leader. The peaceful, Meccan verses are abrogated by the violent Medinian ones;

Islam means submission. Try preaching your message of peace to an Imam or an Iranian square.

Pat my friend. Just admit you got owned. Even if you don't believe a thing he said you should still be able to see how badly you got burned. BURNED DUDE! BURNED!!!

PS: Jesus buried fossil fuels into the world for us to use, he doesn't know where the dinosaurs came from though.

Patrick Vykkers 07-09-2007 09:51 PM

No, he posted abrogated verses and urges to follow his fictionalized hippy version of his equally fictional deity.

How the hell can Allah be YHVH when Allah claims to not be triune and to be Jesus, attributes of YHVH?

Incognito 07-10-2007 02:58 AM

:

How the hell can Allah be YHVH when Allah claims to not be triune and to be Jesus, attributes of YHVH?
When did Jesus himself claim to be YHVH? And when did the God of Moses ever claim to be triune? And how can the one God of the Israelites be triune? Allah is the arabic word for God; ask any arab christian or jew what they call God and you will hear them say Allah. Pick up an Arabic copy of the bible and what will God be called; Allah. Watch the "Passion of the Christ" and you will hear that the aramaic word for God is Allaha.

Patrick Vykkers 07-10-2007 03:14 AM

The Passion of the Christ is about as historically accurate to the Gospels and other history as the Creation Museum is accurate to science.

As for Jesus' claims;
John 10:30
I and the father are one.
For the trinity;'http://www.tektonics.org/jesusclaims/trinitydefense.html

I consider the deity of Islam, Allah, different from the name of God used by followers of YHVH. So to me, there are two Allah's, one the god of Islam who is different from YHVH in personality and nature, and the other another name for YHVH.

WTF I just got this in a PM:

Hello,
I'm new here and just wanted to say "hi"

How's it going?

"Buddhism has the characteristics of what would be expected in a cosmic religion for the future: it transcends a personal God, avoids dogmas and theology; it covers both the natural & spiritual, and it is based on a religious sense aspiring from the experience of all things as a meaningful unity" - Albert Einstein

What?

Pat, you're a silly bitch.

And "submission" may have a negative connotation, but it's not always a bad thing. If everyone would simply understand that they're not the most omnipotent, clever son of a bitch in the galaxy, whether it's by bowing down to a god or just being smart enough to realize that you aren't that damn smart, then we wouldn't have to put up with so many arrogant, intolerant, and sickeningly smug assholes like George W. Bush, Havoc, and (apparently) you.

And while everyone is quoting scripture:

You may be a preacher with your spiritual pride,
You may be a city councilman taking bribes on the side,
You may be workin' in a barbershop, you may know how to cut hair,
You may be somebody's mistress, may be somebody's heir

But you're gonna have to serve somebody, yes indeed
You're gonna have to serve somebody,
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody.

The irony meter just imploded so hard it hit Cthulhu in the stomach, impregnated him, and caused the FSM to laugh and destroy 30 megaversi.

Seriously, tell THAT to the Ayatollah or any Iranian, Saudi Arabian, or even British Islamic clergyman. I dare you, but don't go crying to me if you end up finding out if the 72 Virgins are real.

SeaRex 07-11-2007 02:57 PM

There is nothing ironic about what I have said. I don't claim to know everything. I don't even claim to fully know my place in the universe. However, what I do know is that a little bit of humility, in most cases, goes a long way.

And don't go thinking that I'm defending extremist Islam either. They need a chill-pill to get rid of that overzealous self-righteousness more than anyone. What I was specifically referring to was you're attack against Incognito, who has (so far) only given you a fair, well thought-out argument, yet you feel the need to slander him with crap like I quoted above just as much as you actually try to refute his points. Like you fucking know him and his specific religious practices personally or something. Just really uncalled for stuff.

I'm also glad that Cthulhu is now a running joke on the forum. I would like to claim partial responsibility. I encourage all of the sci-fi/horror fans on this forums to read Lovecraft.

Patrick Vykkers 07-12-2007 01:51 AM

I wasn't slandering him. I was pointing out that his philosophy is essentially a "sounds great on paper, but never works out in reality" theory. Sort of like leftism.

Mutual Friend 07-12-2007 03:44 PM

Eeeeh. Pointless. Delete please.

Mistress of Oddworld 07-12-2007 07:47 PM

Uhhh... What I just can't get about religion, is why humans find it so necessary to beleive in stuff like gods, to follow other beings. I have my own mistress, but she's more of a girlfriend. I'm not following religion, but I'm not athiest, either. Is this possible?

Strike Witch 07-13-2007 03:12 AM

Damnit, Cthulhu makes more sense then this debate, if you could call it that.

We just do. It's just nice to know there's something out there more powerful than us who we can look up to when things look grim.

Dunno. Do you believe in a higher power (apart from your g/f :P)?

Patrick Vykkers 07-13-2007 02:39 PM

I believe some gods are crutches, other gods are crack dreams, a few gods are real, but in a Star Trek way, and one God is real.

You're an agnostic. If by religion you mean organized religion, then you are a Deist or Open Theist or Pantheist or Matriolater.

So our consciousness doesn't become eternally nonexistant.

I don't believe in god, but I won't doubt his existance. If you really look at things from the largest picture that we can comprehend, the universe itself, existance itself, you wonder. How did our entire sprectrum of existance come into play? Beyond the big bang, before that. What the is the reason for anything and everything?

One thing that has always pissed me off about Christianity is how they claim God to be an "infinately compassionate being." A god that sends a majority of the population to an eternal Hell fire doesn't sound very ****ing compassionate to me. There is not a ****ing thing humans can do on this world to warrant them an eternity of suffering. Not even Hitler. What he did was wrong in everyone's minds, but he believed in his heart what he was doing was right.

Yea nice way to list a bunch of biased websites, all of which created after 9/11.
Are you to stupid to realize that terrorism has always been around? It's been around for centuries! Blow up a train here, blow up a car there. You hear about it burried somewhere in the news and it blows over after a week or so. But when two trademark towers come down after an attack (which to this day btw, is still very vague) on the soil of the biggest military power on earth, terrorism needs to be in the spotlight and all Muslims are automaticaly labled a potential threat. THINK!!!!!!! You F*CKING moron! If ANYTHING 9/11 would have put an end to terrorism all over the western world for the sole reason that everyone is aware of it and looking out for it now. Compare records from the last 6 years to the 6 years before 9/11, they are either a straight line or a downhill line. Anything BUT up. The only increase in attacks will be in Afghanistan and Iraq but guess why that is... because the Americans are there on holy soil. gee, big surprise.

Go form your own goddamn opinion instead of taking it from a bunch of bias bloggers who have nothing better to do then watch cnn.com all day long and post all the recent updates that involve a Muslim and make witty comments after each goddamn paragraph that have no debatable value what so ever. Get some real facts.

Patrick Vykkers 07-17-2007 04:01 PM

You are aware the Qur'an is 3 times more violent than the Bible, right?
And what's this nonsense about 9/11 being vague? Al Qaeda sent 19 men to go and blow the towers, that ain't vague. Muslims all around the world are screaming in your ear they want to dominate and liberals are just sticking their fingers in their ears and going
"LALLALALLALAL THERE IS NO TERRORIST AND ISLAMIC THREAT LALALALALALA!"

Havoc 07-17-2007 04:30 PM

How the hell can the Qur'an be more violent then the bible?! I don't think thats humanly possible to think up in your head. Have you read the damn thing and on that note, have you actualy ready the Qur'an or is that something you picked up on one of those nifty websites of yours?

As for the 9/11 attacks, I'm not gonna get into a huge discussion about that but theres a lot of strange stuff surrounding the events of that morning.

Patrick Vykkers 07-17-2007 04:52 PM

Anyone who thinks 9/11 was not done by Al Qaeda is an idiot. Period.

This is from an atheist, left wing source;
http://dwindlinginunbelief.blogspot....-or-quran.html

Havoc 07-18-2007 02:16 AM

Dude seriously, stop with quoting people's sources, I don't give a rats ass. If you want to have an opinion about this sort of stuff then go read the damn thing yourself and then you can have as many opinions as you want. That's why I have so many opinions about the bible, because I actualy read it and I actualy know what it says. I don't need a graph to tell me how violent the bible is, I know the stories in there. I know it's a book written with blood. But for god sake man, wake up, the Bible and the Qur'an are exactly the same story with some twists here and there.

Patrick Vykkers 07-18-2007 11:03 PM

Translation: Facts interfere with my beliefs, so I'm just going to ignore them and go with Truthiness.

Nate 07-18-2007 11:55 PM

More accurate translation: Facts can be selectively chosen to prove anything. Forfty percent of people know that.

You do realise PV, that that translation really appears to apply to coming out of your mouth rather than Havoc's?

Havoc 07-19-2007 02:50 AM

Thank you, Nate. Amen and الله أَكْبَر to you!

Patrick Vykkers 07-19-2007 01:50 PM

I know. I'm not unable to knowingly make a hypocritical statement purely for the sake of making fun of myself.

Okay, how do you reconcile the fact that the violent verses in the Bible, taken together as the total density of the book, CLEARLY are less than those of the Qur'an, using the same method?

Nate 07-19-2007 02:54 PM

Easy. You throw the books out the window and look at the way that people actually practise their religion. You of all people should know that books don't define a religion because followers are rather selective about how they interpret them. Have you stoned a rebellious child lately, after all?

That said, I acknowledge that some Muslims are teaching and practising hate towards others. I truly believe that this is a stage that all religions go through. Judaism went through it two and a half thousand years ago. Christianity went through it in the middle ages (Inquisition, anyone?). And Islam is going through it now.

Havoc 07-19-2007 03:07 PM

Yea, just bad luck for us. But on that note, lets look at modern terrorist christians shall we? Setting on fire abortion clinics... setting gay's cars on fire... setting gays on fire... voting for Bush... protesting loudly at a veterans f*cking funeral... killing gay people again... driving around with those little fish on the back of their car... voting for Bush... AGAIN! OH! And how could I forget... RAPING CHILDREN!

Now you go, PV...
