Heh well OANST has a point :p... the drawing members thingy sounds fun. Hmm...

oddveteran93 04-29-2006 04:06 PM

It'd be fun to contact as many members as we can and get them to be online on the forums at the exact same time. But it would be hard though.

They tried that on another forum once for some video game that was coming out and it DID NOT work! Only a few people showed up....

T-nex 04-30-2006 01:01 AM

Well... Few people would be anough... Maybe we could persuade them into ataying aswell XD

oddveteran93 04-30-2006 02:04 AM

It'd be nice to make the "Most users ever online" thing change (on the main OWF page, if you scroll down). It currently says: Most users ever online was 448, 02-10-2005 at 10:47 AM. Maybe we could like 450 members online

Nate 04-30-2006 06:37 AM

Only if we convince Google, Yahoo and MSN to all send us spiders simultaneously. That counter should really only list members and not guests.

Mojo 04-30-2006 11:49 AM

Heh heh, indeed. I once saw a spider COMPOSING a PM to some member. Now I wonder what the spider wrote in it...

Oddish 04-30-2006 12:18 PM

Probably asking for contact details.

Wil 04-30-2006 12:52 PM

Alcar would know. He reads everyone's PMs.

AquaticAmbi 04-30-2006 02:44 PM

>.>

I thought Alcar made it perfectly clear that he only has the power to read PMs, but he only does when a member is harassing someone.

Alcar 04-30-2006 03:05 PM

Ignore him. Max is just trying to get me to reveal my sources :p

Anyway, we seriously need to sort out what we're doing for the Anniversary. It's 10 days away!

Alcar...

Whatever happens, I think it's a remarkable achievement that the forum is still running at all! Although the forum has only been around for 6 years, over the last 10 years we've only been allowed to enjoy just 4 games. This fanbase is amazing, and I'm really proud to be an Oddworld fan, all the time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year!

So I'd like to take this oppurtunity to raise my glass to all you great guys and girls which really make the Oddworld Community... well... ODD! I love you guys!

*breaks down in tears*

Rex Tirano 04-30-2006 06:21 PM

And welcome to the forums.

Is anyone actually doing anything? Or are we just speculating?

That was well said, you sound like you will be a pretty cool member :). Welcome to the forums.

I am glad this forum hasn't dissolved completely thorughout all the bad and odd events these forums have faces in years in the past.

Those small bursts of controversy that keep us coming back. Honestly, it's like our very own Bold and the Beautiful. Just, you know, with less Massimo.

Actually, I was just having my own fun. ;) Still, if the dealine is really approaching so quickly, I may have to get up off my laurels and see what special thing I can produce.

Splat 05-01-2006 09:12 AM

Happy Birthday Oddworld Forums! May your threads never fail, may your fans never wander off somewhere, and may MI6 never uncover the secret conspiracies of global domination kept in the emplyee lounge.

Well I won't be able to do much, except record myself playing "Happy Birthday" on the piano and maybe I'll post some crappy OW drawings of mine. God I'm pathetic :p

dripik 05-02-2006 07:15 AM

Speaking of drawings, will be a thread for Anniversary-related artwork created? Or shall we post them here, in this thread? Because I'm almost ready with my OWF 6th Anniversary Edition Comic...

skillya_glowi 05-02-2006 08:20 AM

Not a bad idea, dripik. I also like the idea of the birthday skin :P

You people can't imagine how much OWF has done for me. It was my haven that I retreated to when people in response to my "have you ever heard of Oddworld?" said, "huh?"

I haven't been a member for very long, but being a small forum (NFF) it brings the community much tighter. After a while you start seeing the same people again. I've made many friends here (at least I think I have) and I would just love the opportunity to celebrate OWF's sixth anniversary.

Personally, I'm not surprised that OWF lasted six years. It could have been twenty-six (Have you written your will yet, Alcar?) since Oddworld is such a big thing that holds us together.

Munch's Master 05-02-2006 10:03 AM

^What do you mean, 'lasted' you speak as if the forum no longer exists. Sure its in a low point in some areas, but is still alive. So, Alcar, is there a way to mass-email all the members, to try and convince them all to return? (When I say members, I mean the ones who aren't banned.) Because that'd be the perfect way to call back the old members. If they came back ,I'd have my list of people to meet all ready and waiting. Plus, I liek the birthday skin idea. Make it so AbeBabe, make it so!
Oh and before I go, Happy future birthday OWF! May these forums last until at least their 10th birthday! *Raises glass of champagne and sets off a party popper*

Cyber-Slig 05-02-2006 12:20 PM

We can mass e-mail members, I believe AbeBabe did it before for something I forgot about. Some old members got the e-mail and came back. They didn't last for long though, and got bored and left again.

Some ideas I have though are;

Competitions? You could have fan-art competitions, lore competitions or something. Winner gets a custom title or be an admin for a day?

Or a big game tournament? Most people could meet up on some online game, e.g. Unreal Tournament and have some competition battles? Whoever wins also gets the competition's prize.

Zeikio 05-03-2006 02:39 PM

You should make a skin but one we can use all the time not just for the anniversary. Maybe you could take request from members on what it should look like?

oddveteran93 05-04-2006 11:11 PM

I don't think there's enough time to make a new skin. And the native was was just recently "released".

Cloverfield 05-05-2006 03:02 AM

Mass emailing is possible through vBulletin.

As for a skin, I'm pressed for time the next couple of weeks. E3 is coming up and I have two websites I need to get online before then. Ouch!

I'd probably be hard up to even add a party hat to one of the banners. :(

Abe Babe...

T-nex 05-05-2006 03:26 AM

Can Alcar do it? A party hat on the banner sounds fun :p

AquaticAmbi 05-06-2006 05:44 PM

Yeah, I bet Alcar could manage working in something cute like a party hat if he feels like it. I mean, he did put all that lovely man juice on the banner on one Christmas, didn't he? :p

Alcar 05-06-2006 10:48 PM

That took little to no work effort though ;) It was Rexy doing all the work.

I'm sure I can figure something out.

Alcar...

Rex Tirano 05-07-2006 05:17 AM

Shush, otherwise everyone'll want one. ;)

That sounds considerably more crude than you intended. At least than I think you intended. It's hard to tell with The New Peter.
