Sadly the actual problem of Cheese and people like him is far less entertaining than my chosen analogy. It's not fun... it makes attempting to have a debate more trouble than it's worth.

Your idea of "not boring" is obviously subjective, and therefore I'd very much like to hear the opinions of all the other regular posters.

Does anyone else want to allow these vacuous morons to spam threads in the name of "entertainment"? And would there really be nothing left in OT if we were a little tighter on all the crap? I personally don't believe there would be to be honest, I can see plenty of perfectly viable discussions going on right now in fact. Just not in the right environment.

You know what? Fuck it, I can barely be bothered to come and post here as it is. Do what you want with this place, I've tried my best to offer solutions to the current dullness/shittyness, and if all you're content with doing about it is nothing, and you justify that when clearly your "solution" isn't helping to slow or prevent the decline of this place, it isn't worth my effort. All I'm going to say is at this rate I can't gaurantee that myself and many others like me will be posting here in the forseeable future.

I think that we could have gotten a lot more memberss, if we had kept on with the Shop Hack, Front page, forum games and yada-yada.

I don't think it has anything to do with that guys. OWF is kind of like a summer tourist shop, that only runs good in the summer when everyone is on vacation there. In the winter it sucks, or is closed.
Same with OWF, the forum runs like a train whenever Oddworld brings out or announces a new game. Everyone Googles ODDWORLD this ODDWORLD that, and ofcourse all end up here. But when the hype is over, most members don't stick around and leave us again. I think we gain a few steady members with every game that is published, but we lose just as many. I've been going over the members list lately, and pretty much all the top posters have left us. Almost everyone from the old gang is gone.

It just so happens that these "vacuous morons," as you call them, make up about 75% of our active users. So what are you suggesting to appease the members we have while making the forums a better place? Start closing more threads and piss more people off? So far, you've pretty much just been complaining instead of offering any concrete suggestions.

We've had numerous members leave because of boredom. Fax, Hobo have left completely... Mojo and Rich, along with others, hardly even show up anymore. I see absolutely no reason spoil everyone else's fun just because you don't like it.

As of now, you've been the only one who has made a formal complaint about spam and how "shitty" the forum is, yet you're still coming back, so why should we change policy? The majority of the other members seem content with the spam threads. You're the one that's always harping on democracy for the forums and whatnot, but are you now saying that we should go against the will of our majority?
Actually, Nexy, it wasn't "officially" canceled. We just never had anyone who was willing to put into the time to make a front page. I really wanted to see the idea take off, but I don't know the first thing about building a web site. Mac did offer to host it, though.

As for Shop Hack, Peter would have been the only one with the ability to implement it. So... not sure about that.

I'm enjoying myself around here plentyfull, if only it is for my own RPG which is running here. I also enjoy the stories and other fan stuff.
It's just, it's been real quiet around Oddworld lately, thus it's been real quiet around here as well. Thats a simple matter of 1 + 1 = 11 :).

The small bunch of people we have here isn't even that bad. Makes for fun friends ^_^.

If OWI started getting some attention again, and we got more members by association, then perhaps some stronger regulations would be needed, but you guys seem to be getting along just fine and/or having fun with such liberal interpretations of spam and whatnot, so I don't see any reason why I should put a stop to all of your chatter.

Why's COG only got 16 posts now? Also I agree with SeaRex, the forums can't go down on spamming as we might lose members, and there is no really serious spamming, unlike many forums I've been too. I'll try advertising this place on a couple, but I'll emphasize on the fact that we aren't just about Oddworld, and that our OffTopic chatter is very active. I migth get us a couple of members.

Spamming isn't realy that bad around here. Heck I've seen it a lot worse. OWF's spamming policy (right now) is fine as it is with the few members we have. It might have to be re-enforced when the high season comes (when Oddworld will release new stuff and we getting more members), but for now it's fine as it is. Besides, surely this isn't some kindergarten where we only stop spamming when a moderator says so? For example I just called the topic back on track, and I'm assuming that people arn't going to ignore me for the sole reason that I'm not a moderator. Members can keep this forum clean themselfs as well if they would point stuff like that out.
