That image has been seen before, many times. Although I don't know what our policy on reproducing public material from the Art of Oddworld is. As far as I'm aware, the posting of images is not allowed - which includes public ones. Though that seems rather pointless.

Anyway, on topic, I've always loved the twin fetuses logo. It had such a great sense of mystery, and for me, always seemed to allude to a darker meaning behind the image. As I take it from Alf's answer to Xavier's question, the twin fetuses logo was going to be common between Munch's Oddysee and Hand of Odd? Or that the twins symbolise the two seperate games, though joined somehow?

Still, the concept of incorporating fetuses into the game is intriguing.

it was MO and HoO...
the games were started at the same time, and so they developped both at the same moment during a little time. later they just carried on with Munch, and will go back to HoO later

The posting of any material from the book, be it images or text, on the Forums is forbidden. As it says on the book's verso:

:

No part of this book may be reproduced or transmitted in any form or by any means, electronic or mechanical, without prior written consent of the publisher.

Obviously, images already in the public domain can be posted, so long as they're not scanned from the book.

The twin fetuses have long since been absorbed into Oddworld lore. The caliper and test-tube motif for the Oddworld logo was created for a brochure for the 1999 E3 convention. At the time, we were working on two games simultaneously; Munch's Oddysee and Hand of Odd. As time went on and the gears of corporate commerce kept turning, Hand of Odd faded away and Munch's Oddysee became the sole focus of production. In the end, Oddworld gave birth to a kicking and screaming Munch's Oddysee only. This is the history of the twin fetuses.

The larger one is MO, I presume?

Anyway... my Odd I want this book! *whimpers* I'm getting the limited edition so...*sob*I can't take much more of this...*shudder*

Odd Trusting 12-10-2004 12:44 PM

Alright thats it, I can't stand it any longer. I gave you the clues about where Stranger's affairs are taking place, but I have to tell you know. I belive the name of the land is Nodd!

Oddish 12-10-2004 02:28 PM

Nodd, eh? Ok then, Nodd it is, the location is Nodd. Theirs a fact.

Wil 12-10-2004 02:40 PM

Nod was rumoured to be the fourth hero in the Oddworld Quintology.

Odd Trusting 12-10-2004 02:41 PM

Couldn't hold in any longer, so I had to tell you. This is one of few steel facts.

Incognito 12-10-2004 02:55 PM

I thought the land was called Mudos? Why would it be the "land of Nodd"? Is it me or does it feel sleepy in here? :sleepy:

Yeah it does seem sleepy sorta. Anyway, we are still on Mudos in a part of Mudos called Nodd. Think of it this way Mudos is a contitinent and Nodd is a country. Once again those clever folks at OI deliver a -odd word in Nodd.

oddguy 12-10-2004 06:17 PM

We'll see if you're right or not when the game comes out, or when we get more info.

Esus 12-11-2004 02:35 AM

Source for this information, Odd Trusting?

Odd Trusting 12-11-2004 09:29 AM

Yup first one to say would be me I guess, but I am not gloating I had to tell you guys at the forums cause who else could I tell

Esus 12-11-2004 09:32 AM

But how exactly do you know this information? If it was from OWI themselves, didn't you have to sign some sort of NDA?

Odd Trusting 12-11-2004 10:16 AM

Well I am at least aloud to tell you that it is Nodd but the rest of the vauble info came in the package I was talking about (no it wasn't a job application) . Now you know why I couldn't tell you guys before about Nodd until the package got here, and thumbs up where given.

Forbidden Paradise 12-11-2004 04:58 PM

Am I the first person to receive the LE? The Certificate of Authenticity (although expected) is a rather nice touch, with the signatures and stuff. I'll get it framed along with my other collectables.

Alcar 12-12-2004 03:12 AM

I'm not sure, although you do live in Adelaide. I received a notification that the Limited Edition had been sent to me just a while ago, and the credit card statement came through as well. I'm just waiting now for it. Though I don't know if I should open the Limited Edition, or buy a Soft Cover one right now. I've already spent a tonne on the Limited Edition, so I think I'll just open that one :p

Yeah...same here. And LE was all I could afford. But, I am going to be careful and handle the book with gloves. I'm so serious.

Nodd info is credited to the UOM (unoffical Oddworld magizine), OT made sure it was in this issue, and I couldn't refuse either

ANN NEELY 12-25-2004 06:42 AM

Today Is All Right For Tonight....

EEE! I got my book for Christmas! :cheer: Glad you couldn't hear me squealing like a school girl. I will only touch it with rubber gloves on. I got #31 of the Limited Editions! My mom says my dad's crazy for getting it for me, but it's HIS fault I'm into Oddworld....

-:D

Oddish 12-25-2004 01:40 PM

I got the book!!!

So oddworldly, reminds me how great the world of odd is,and full of life. The evroments for Stranger are pretty amazing, a bit Arimicaninsh. And it's cool that the Stormcirlce uses it's energy and passing it to the meetle to destroy or get rid of an induastral factle.

And logos are wounder, just look at the "Munch. The Hart" Great ideas.

And now I know why Abe has 5 horizontal lines.

Alf's Assistant 12-25-2004 05:36 PM

Merry Christmas Fans!
It makes me very happy that you all enjoy the book. We worked really hard on it and did it just for the fans. Thank you for your support.

There is NO land of NOD.

Esus 12-26-2004 12:44 AM

It's a really fantastic book. Facinating. It had so much more in that I expected, which was really cool.

tought so, but thank you for making it official :D

The Shadowman 12-27-2004 04:57 PM

In that case give my that bagde of honor OT, no article for you! Thanks AA! Wait OT you said that info came from that thing right, that must mean that guy is a non-helpful source, that means we will have to burn his house for making remove something from the Unoffical Oddworld Magizine. I got the Hardcover and Stranger's Wrath pre-ordered for Christmas and know I have all 3 editions, and have all the Oddworld games including the Gamewboy versions

lol, I got mine copy a coupl of weeks ago and I got grubby fingerprints all over it. :crying:. But then again I would have only kept it in pristine condition if I was planning on reselling again-of which I have no intention at all. A well fingerprinted book is a well read book ;)

odd chick 12-29-2004 04:17 PM

I got mine on Christmas Day and I have to say that this book is amazing! The art in it is absolutely outstanding and I just couldn't believe how beautiful the images were! I'm so happy that I was able to buy it!!! :)

Fuzzle Guy 12-30-2004 04:30 AM

I got mine for Christmas and am really afraid of ripping it. This is the best care I've ever taken of a book in my life. It's one of the only times I've got a book that is interesting om my life.

The Shadowman 12-30-2004 07:56 AM

You know when you read the book it seems like you are almost in a dream, it shows the complexity of Oddworld, which can not be shown by a simple game
