Just because the Xbox version is largely strung together, it doesn't mean changes can't be made. Large overhauls such as an altercation to gameplay, alright, are unlikely to make it into additional drafts from this point, but saying there is plenty of time until release is accurate. From what Lorne says, it doesn't sound like OWI are getting so largely involved in the conversion to PS2 in any case.

As for the PS2 conversion dragging the release date back, well... possibly. But if the game is so supposedly done and ready for imminent release, then that wouldn't leave any time for advertising. The last few months have slowly drip-fed fans, gamers and industry watchers tiny doses of Stranger - now EA have come and are ready to advertise the game properly. Advertising, I remember, was one of the issues many fans had over the game, worrying there wouldn't be enough of it. But since there's plenty of time to go, suitable levels of advertising can commence.

Microsoft is stupid. Because of their shortsightedness they lose control of an excellent franchise. Whats worse is that the fans are punished because of it. Splinter Cell did a delay and GTA did it. Why can't Stranger? I showed tremendous loyalty to OWI by buying an Xbox and what do I get rewarded with? Delays and multi-platform bullshit!

The Xbox is still the best platform to support Oddworld...

Well during this extra time OWI is going to make the game even better, adding extra details, eggs and perhaps other bonusses.

Yes, considering that this was said by many to come out in December 04 it is a long bloody time! Any delay is inexscusable. I've already anticipated this with bated breath for YEARS and now I have to wait another half a year for some PS2 fanboy jerkoffs to get on the wagon? Every other coompany releases the game for the first platform, then the secondary one but it seems that Sony really has EA by the nuts because they're too chickenshit to do what every other damn gaming compnay does!

The reason Stranger isn't coming out this winter is because of the Halo2 hype. Just think...if Stranger was to come out in december, it'd be completely overlooked by Halo2 and others. OWI and EA want this game to become popular...releasing it in Spring 2005 is a smart move.

GTA : San Andreas (Take Two), Gran Turismo 4 (Sony), Metal Gear Solid 3 (Konami), Doom 3 (Activision), Half-Life 2 (Vivendi Universal Games), Metroid Prime 2 (Nintendo), Fable (Microsoft)

At least the first three on that list are guaranteed for PS2 :), the reason we're moaning is becuase not all of us can go and buy an X-Box and naturally you'd think they'd release the game on all platforms at the same time.

At first I was sort of upset with the decision to release the games at the same time. If a game will get on the system, who cares if it has to wait another few months? Xbox has had to wait for a number of quality games to come over to its console, and each time its been worth it. If its just to keep Sony happy, I say they can piss off.

On the other hand, not wanting to coincide with other games to ensure popularity (while silly) I can empathise with. I'm not upset about them releasing on the PS2 as well, but if the game is done, why not just release it?

Well obviously, but why should the people who HAVE Xbox's be punished? Why should we have to wait? Oh and I had to run out and buy a PSOne to play the first Oddworld games.

Why exactly would we think they'd release the game on all platforms at the same time? I would think that if it's ready for one platform...it should be released on that platform first. As Volsung pointed out...we've had to wait for numerous titles to make it's way over to Xbox. Now, since the announcement of the PS2 version....Xbox owners have to wait for it??? WAY unfair.

Looks like we'll all be waiting either way cause in the end it is not our decision. Just think of the things OWI can be doing to make the Xbox version better while we wait.

Edit- I just closely examined the scene where Stranger..sifts (I guess thats the word?) the rim oh his hat. In the background you can see a character walking off into another room. Now to me I see a Vykker, not a Clakker but I could be wrong.

I assumed it was a clakker because something with feathers stamped Stranger's bounty poster...then it cuts to Stranger taking his money.

I'm pretty sure it's a clakker, you can just see the last feathers go around the corner when the view is clearest.
