:

wait a minute. Is that a complement or an insult?

Depends on whether or not Scuba Toads is an Official name. We shall see. :dodgy:

Ok... in AE Alf is with Abe in the dessert. He is one of the five muds you need heal from brew before you take off to FeeCo. And now here is the glitch, when you let them help you activate the well, then just leave them there. Finnish the game as usual (and with usual I mean saving all muds, you cruel basterds :P), and in the ending movie! There he is! ALF!!! But I left him in Necrum! How the hell did he get back! How did he get out of a blown up necrum mine's!

Wil 06-24-2004 11:50 PM

I don't mind the Moolah coming out of the Glukks' heads. It just a way of representing his donation. I hear no one complaining of the numbers above Abe or Munch's heads, or the 'z's that traditional appear from sleeping inhabitants.

It's a compliment NDW: OWI have more creativity than coming up with the name 'scuba toads'.

EDIT: Oops, missed the next page.

I suppose, Havoc, you have to ask how Alf got from Necrum to SoulStorm Brewery even if you did rescue him. If you leave your five pals there, I'm sure they might try the well or bird portal themselves. Maybe some helper Mudokon or Shaman came along and aided them.

Is the plural of Steef Steefs or Steef?

I think it's just Steef either way. Like moose is moose, and fish is fish. Steefs doesn't sound correct, like mooses.

Nate 06-27-2004 12:47 PM

possibly Steeves, like 'life' and 'lives'

of course that makes him sound like a bloke who wears stone-washed denim and ugg boots, has a mullet and a girlfriend called Shazza

I do not like that game.

Nate 06-28-2004 12:35 PM

okay sligslinger this is happening way too often but I've got absolutely no idea what you are talking about. I was making fun of the bogan stereotype here in australia. what about you?

dont know if this has been asked before and no time to use search but in MO the vykkers use sonar to track the captured critters on land. I thought sonar was what is used to track submarines underwater. shouldnt it be radar or some sort of echolocation as used by bats? I mean it doesnt affect the game ,I was just curious and its been bugging me a while.
thanks

Wil 08-06-2004 10:57 AM

Radar uses radio signals, which are emitted, bounce off things are their reflections are picked up and translated into some kind of image. Sonar is esentially the same, but uses sound. Echolocation is sonar, as bats use sound. Munch's SkullJack and the Vykkers also use sonar.

Although how they manage to track particular objects like snagged Fuzzles and critter cages is beyond my scientific understanding. But like you say, it doesn't matter for the purposes of the game.

Oddish 08-06-2004 11:07 AM

Don't traps have a "beep" sound?

Wil 08-06-2004 11:25 AM

True, but I don't see how that itself would help sonar. Maybe some kind of triangulating microphone equipment. It must be related to the Pods in some way, though, because it beeps faster as one approaches.

Aha, maybe the light and beep are merely discernable indicators that the trap is sending off a sonar of its own, which is picked up by the Pods. This would imply Munch's SkullJack can also detect these sounds.

Another trivial and pointless fanboy puzzle explained. :)

Incognito 08-20-2004 10:33 AM

Can anyone tell me what's going on in the attached pic? I wasn't sure whether to start a whole new thread over it, so I put it in here. Those little things around Munch I presume they are baby Gabbits? Who/what is that behind them? At first I thought it was the Raison but he has different eyes which glow. (And he has four eyes instead of the two seen in the pic.)

Wil 08-21-2004 05:18 AM

The image shows Munch ascending from a Mudokon stone henge place which clearly never made the final cut of MO, or else evolved into Storm Circles or Zap Henge. It looks like the hatched Gabbiwogs were going to be in Munch's Oddysee, though what this has to do with Mudokon mysticism I don't know. The figure residing over Munch is meant to be a Vykker, and I think we have official word on that from the Forums history.

T-nex 08-24-2004 09:38 AM

Wee! New qeustion:

How long will it take for Oddworld Inhabitants to get back to Abe's and Munch's games?

Xavier 08-24-2004 09:51 AM

easy one!

we don't know, probably not directly after the next game
nut there is no official word about that...

Wil 08-24-2004 09:51 AM

Hopefully it's what they'll work on after Stranger, but this quote lends to a different future:

:

We'll see the completion of Stranger and the start of a couple of more projects that utilize our latest technology and cast. We've built an incredible engine and we want to get more games out to our fans without them having to wait for two years. We'd like to release a game a year.

So apparently this year (the interviewer was asking what 2004 would bring, but that's obviously changed) we will see more games featuring Stranger. Hmmmm. But the game per year definitely sounds great, if at least a bit difficult to abide to.

T-nex 08-24-2004 10:00 AM

Thanx, but i think i saw someone post that they planned to make 3 more Stranger games, before returning to Abe...

caracal 08-24-2004 02:27 PM

what do we know about the quintologers?...are they all going to be as alike as abe and munch? I know that they both got a moon, and that they both were supposed to turn into flying creatures when dead (munch was gonna turn into insects)

but will the others have features like that?..do we even know how many moons OW has?

Wil 08-25-2004 12:55 AM

Each hero of the Quintology will have their own moon, that's for sure. I don't know where the idea that Munch turned into insects came from, but now both you and Oddsville have said it, so unless you got it from him, I'm going to tentatively presume there's an actual source on that information. Makes on wonder, though, what the connection between Gabbits and 'Skrikits' is. But, I think that's more of an in-game element than an in-universe property of the heroes - Munch had birds flying around his head, after all, but there's no known connection between the two, unlike Mudokons and bird.

Oddworld has many moons, as you can see by playing through the Free-Fire Zone in Abe's Oddysee - over 20. But like I said, all the five heroes will have their own.

Software Bug 08-26-2004 07:45 PM

i have a question for you guys :
in the final movie of MO abe posses on the "old" way like in AO & AE.

why?

Esus 08-29-2004 05:31 AM

The orbs are a gameplay feature.

Question:
In what year was each game released?
At a guess, I'd say: AO: '95. AE: '98. MO '02. Can anyone confirm or correct this?

Oddish 08-29-2004 05:44 AM

It might be like this:

AO: 1997
AE: 1998
MO: 2001

Wil 08-30-2004 01:41 AM

Esus, please. The FAQ is there for a reason.

caracal 08-31-2004 04:18 PM

um, kinda expanding on my question...have any of you guys seen any other quintology moon? I'm pretty sure I saw Munch's moon in AE...so I'm wondering if the other marked moons are visible in AO...or some point in AE I missed

Xavier 08-31-2004 11:10 PM

where in AE did you saw the moon?
give us the screen code please, so we can find it back (pressing pause and it will be the code you see)

Wil 09-01-2004 05:11 AM

There is a moon in the Free-Fire Zone that looks like it might by a footprint. But you see, I doubt it is, as the future characters aren't actually fully designed.

Software Bug 09-01-2004 05:30 AM

I have seen the moon and it looks like a "rare" footprint...
And Max, why do you know the future characters aren't actually fully designed....
We know OWI is full with suprises!!!:D:D

Feeco executive 09-03-2004 10:28 AM

How do you pronounce "Vykker"
