I still haven't finished Diablo 3. I don't know if I will, it was honestly kind of disappointing. Maybe Diablo 2 set the standards impossibly high, I don't know. I felt like a lot of what made the second so great was missing: the skill trees, the interesting story, the remarkable new landscapes... Diablo 3's zones are pretty much carbon-copied from Diablo 2: you've got your grassland/marsh zone, desert zone, snowy zone (which was pretty much act V from Lord of Destruction), and finally, Hell.
I'll probably get back to finishing it when the servers are more stable, but right now, as a long time (10 years+), I can honestly say it didn't quite live up to my expectations. |
The lack of skill trees was especially disappointing. I was relieved to see them in Torchlight.
Diablo 3 felt really uninspired in so many ways. It seems like they made D3 for the sake of it, rather than doing anything good. One of my biggest gripes was with the weapon types. There was no difference from a sword to a spear to a club, you just chose whichever one had the higher DPS. There weren't even really trends in which hit more. They should have made certain weapon types enchant different stats at higher rates or at least something. |
Aswell as AO, I'm playing through New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It's easier than I remember. I'm just collecting Star Coins to get into World 9 levels.

There are so many story elements that were hinted at in the first game that it's obvious they intended to make a sequel. The whole Hand of Galochio thing alone would make for a great sequel.

The second episode of the Walking Dead game came out today on Xbox and I played it through a few hours ago. It was pretty good, better than the first one I'd say. A few more surprise twists and I do recommend playing the episodes if you like point 'n' click style games and/or Walking Dead.
It lasted around 2 hours to get through it but there are a lot of different choices you can make though so I'd say it has some replay value. My only true gripe with the game is that it doesn't run so smoothly, whenever you get an achievement/trophy or make a big dialogue decision, it kinda lags out for a bit and sometimes it can be really tension breaking and annoying. |
I played the demo for the first episode. I didn't like it.
|
So I got Downpour for my birthday anyway (currently waiting for HD collection). Despite all the bad reviews I've seen, I actually really enjoyed it, especially the end, final boss was a bit weird, though. I mean the actual final part, after the boss. 'Twas epic.

Uns uns uns
I like this a lot. I think it's perfect. |
PLaying through Resident Evil 4 again. It's as great as always.
Also played some Lumines on my iPod. Used to have it on PSP, but I lost it or something. Anyway, great puzzle game, best since Tetris, I think. |

Yeah, it's never been terribly difficult. It's just so fun.

Leon in his mafia suit weilding the Chicago Typewriter. Leon is the best character.
|
Agreed, he's just your average cop/agent dude. All the other characters have way too much baggage.
I hope he doesn't end up with a bunch of emotional baggage in RE6. He seemed pretty okay at the end of RE4. Dude's unbreakable. Also, I'm thinking of getting back into TF2. I haven't played in years. Is it still popular, and fun? |
Yes, but since it went F2P, I believe there are still many less-skilled players there

Currently working my way through Abe's Oddysee again. Just got back to Rupture Farms, so not too far from finishing now.
Undecided if I wanted to dive straight into Abe's Exoddus afterwards, or take a break first and start something else. Oddly enough I too have been contemplating re-starting Resident Evil 4, it's probably in my top 5 games of all time. Oh, and I'm also working my way through a Nuzlocke Challenge on Pokemon Soul Silver, only got the 1 badge thus far though. |
Played the first Jak and Daxter a bit today. I'm about 39% through in no more than 4 hours.
I've done it so many times before, but it's still good fun. |
I've been playing Asura's Wrath. It is barely a game, with the majority of the action coming from quick time events and each part you actually control is just used as almost a break between each extended quick time event (and the combat is kinda repetitive).
But MAN that game is amazing. The visuals and what actually goes on in the cut scenes is just so fucking japanese it is astonishing. It is like what I imagine the creators of Dragon Ball Z or Naruto would make if they were on copious amounts of drugs. |
Stated playing Twilight Princess again. Got past that horrible fishing part and I'm about halfways through Snowpeak Ruins.

IS DLC. It's a really kickass addition to the game, I'm just bothered I had to shell out more money.
|
That is understandable. I can't wait to play it though, the cliff hanger at the end of the full game was so ridiculous I have to find out what the fuck it all plays out.
Good thing I paid like £15 ($23) for it. |
As a huge Capcom fan, I've considered getting Ashura's Wrath. But seeing as it's 90% quicktime events and practically a movie, I'm not so sure. I might just get Dragon's Dogma. Anyone here played that yet?
|
Friends say Dragon's Dogma is basically like if you took the open world of skyrim, the combat and oh shit oh shit nature of Dark Souls, a more gradual difficulty scale, and the crazy character editor of various MMOs.
It's a bit dodgy at points, but once you put some time into it you can get really enthralled. |
I played Dead Island. It wasn't horrible, it was just a badly put together game. And pretty boring. I'm returning it.
|
I'm quite enjoying Sword & Sworcery. The controls don't feel natural but the graphics and gameplay are top notch. The ambient noises and music in particular really feel genuinely great and truly form a deep connection with the game itself.

It means that beginners won't get slaughtered.

Currently playing The King of Fighters XIII. I'm usually not that into fighting games, but I've grown to really like to this series. I think it might be the style of it all that I really like.

SNK fighting games > fighting games
Especially Fatal Fury! I love how short all the bouts are, makes things more intense. |
Still working through Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix occasionally. I hit level 90 just before and I finally synthesized every item, leaving me with the most ridiculous stats I've ever had. They're not even close to what I need to attempt some of the uber bosses, such as data Axel, data Xemnas or Terra. Those guys still take me down in a few hits, even with second chance/once more and my ridiculously small MP recharge time.
Some of the endgame bosses in this game aren't even fair. Data Roxas is fine until he hits 3/4 health. Once he hits his aggressive phase he starts shooting fucking lasers at you, while continuing to dash around the map really quickly and giving you only a brief window to attack him after he performs his combo, which is a pain in the arse to evade. Before long he started countering me whenever I tried to attack him in that phase, attack breaking and chaining me. Eventually he wore me down because I just couldn't hurt him any more. Since my last attempt my MP regen time has ~halved and I have a few more points in strength, so I should be able to take him down soon. I'm looking forward to KH3D getting released at the end of this month. EDIT: Here's someone spamming their way through the Roxas fight with Limit Form. This seems to be largely luck that he doesn't get killed while on 1hp for most of that ending phase. |
Played the Goldeneye Reloaded demo on XBL, didn't like it at all, too COD for my liking. It would've been a nostalgic treat to be able to play Goldeneye on a Nintendo console again while getting to try a Wii game online for the first time; although, my fondest memories of Goldeneye involve going over people's houses to play it with them in RL...damn I miss those days.
|
A lot of shooters these days are just CoD and Gears knockoffs, so I wouldn't be too shocked.

Ever played Capcom vs. SNK? They have at this video rental store near my place, I considered buying it since I love Capcom fighters. |

Local Multiplayer was the highlight of the 80s/90s. Now, since we have the internet, the whole world is our opponent. That means 24/7 gaming sometimes.
