I thought Charlie Brooker was the guy who made Black mirror and Dead Set.
|
He is, but he goes back a looooong way. I remember when he still wrote Screen Burn.
@Manco, the main difference between Brooker and Croshaw is that Charlie Brooker has worked with or on TV for all of his career. He understands the medium and is therefore in a good position to give useful insight. Croshaw, on the other hand, is just a guy on YouTube who got popular, has never worked at a game company, and has never made a game in his life beyond three or four short, average-quality, 2D adventure games. |
And he wrote a very shitty book...
...According to OANST. |
:
Meanwhile, Yahtzee cannot provide this same insight and expertise, and so can only be funny. So comparing the two as though they are similar: :
|
I'd say that they both favour the comedy over the criticism is a legitimate similarity. Though it's easy to forget when you realise how smart he is, Charlie Brooker's comedy is still 60% manchildish gurning and bellowed expletivies.

Where'd the rest of this thread go?
E: I see. |
I beat Syndicate today (the new one, not the old PC game). I thought it was alright. My main complaint is that it's so bright. I mean, really, really bright. At some parts you can't even see anything. I thought the boss fights were interesting even though the first one is pretty damn hard. I just felt like playing a generic FPS but I think it was a bit better than your usual FPS. I liked the soundtrack.
|
I played Ben There, Dan That!, an adventure game by two unemployed London games developers called Ben and Dan who make crude jokes. It's about two unemployed London games developers called Ben and Dan who make crude jokes while trapped in the multiverse.
|
I have that. Is it worth playing?
|
Slowly plugging away through Diablo 3. I have a level 19 Demon Hunter and am nearly finished act 2. Game's still a lot of fun, but I can't wait to start playing with my friends at a higher level. Only complaint (other than the obvious issue: no offline mode) is that the story is very bland and uninspired. I mean, I'm going through the quests, and people are talking to me about whatever the hell's going on in this world, and I just can't be phased. At least Diablo II had something of an interesting story.
Ah well, gameplays fun, so what do I care. |

Also playing Q.U.B.E. It's okay. Just an amateur Portal knockoff. |
I played a Wizard for like a couple minutes but other than that, no.
Yeah, I kinda wish Blizzard had put at least a little more effort into the story/narrative of this one. But at least we get nice, shiny pre-rendered cutscenes. Those are always fun. |
Oh, I'm playing the demo so I'm getting my no-money's worth by getting all the classes to Level 10 before I buy the game.

In the "We don't need a narrative because we have shifting white panels" sort of way.
|
I checked it out. Doesn't look great.

I watch speedruns of Portal 2. Just because I like to watch it and then comment stuff like : 'When you were falling down the pit in chapter 6, I was watching the credits'.
I am still the fastest speedrunner of that game. |
Oooh, I very sincerely doubt that fact.
I'm playing Final Fantasy X, just trying it on an a VERY buggy emulator before I for a purchase. Terribly written but fun. |
You think you can beat me?
1 hr 50 mins. Beat that shit. |
Someone has.

I'm sure you're good at the game, but come on. I highly doubt you're the best. I mean, come on man. You're not even asian.
|
I'm not the best, no. That goes to someone called hatuario akurami. Probably.
I am fast though! |
I want a video. Now.
|
My GUI interface in Visual Basic is telling me that you, Mac, need to take a chill pill.
|
The flaming, bubbling mass of molten plastic and wires that used to be my hard drive apparently agrees. Point taken.
|
I can't possibly show you a vid! I have it on xbox. Whats chubfish's time?
