Ahahahaha, GOG gave those for free last Christmas, great games.

Varrok 09-22-2014 10:15 AM

Yarrrr, Tropico 3 for free on Steam provided you claim it within the next 22 hours from this very moment, you swashbuckling sea dog

MeechMunchie 09-22-2014 02:52 PM

¡Dictadores del Caribe no son (necesariamente) piratas!

4½ good games for <£7 ain't bad.

I should probably start working these out in USD, seeing as Job McYossie is the only one who actually reads this shit.

People really care too much about these things. Origin works fine, I just wouldn't leave it running the way I do with Steam.

Origin has some good things going such as the free games and trials of games like PvZGW and Titanfall. They've improved it vastly since it's launch with ME3. uPlay is coming along nicely too and Steam's new GUI looks awesome, finally more control when searching for stuff to buy!

That is, if they are within your time zone, right? :P

Otherwise, yes, buy TL2 because it's pretty awesome.

Phylum 10-01-2014 04:08 PM

Hey we co-oped, even if it was just the once! D:

Beyond Good & Evil is 60% off on GOG, great awesome amazing game. As well as the rest of their Ubisoft stuff but whatever about the most of that.

Do you know if it's the HD version or the original?

EDIT: Survey says no.

Job McYossie 10-03-2014 05:11 PM

Well yes it is, and no it isn't. It isn't any "HD edition" thing, but it does support High Definition resolution. I ran it on 1440x900

Nate 10-03-2014 08:06 PM

HD resolution support isn't the same as HD quality textures and models.

Varrok 10-04-2014 01:16 AM

Afair the HD version has never been ported to pc. And to this day I'm not sure if they REALLY put any HD textures/models in HD version instead of just upping the res.

According to the Ubisoft website the HD version has "full HD 1080p graphics, enhanced character models, upgraded textures, and a remastered musical score."

Varrok 10-04-2014 12:03 PM

Yeah, it's just that Ubisoft says a lot of things, and when I looked at the first screenshots before they released the HD version it looked exactly the same with bigger res. When I look at the official screenshots now the models are higher poly. If you ask me, it doesn't really matter. It's pretty enough on its own and the soundtrack sounds good, I wouldn't bother paying more for an HD version having the original even if it was released on PC

DarkHoodness 10-04-2014 05:39 PM

Just a heads up that BG&E apparently doesn't run well on Intel integrated graphics chipsets - Audio and vision seem to go out of sync. But who the hell attempts to run games on them these days?

Beautiful game, though - One of my all time favorites. I met Micheal Ancel and Christophe Héral at Video Games Live back in '06, where some of the soundtrack was played by a live band. They both signed the inlay of my physical copy of BG&E. Was awesome.

Also, seconded to what Varrok said - The HD version isn't much different from the original, and you aren't missing much by not having it. The game was very good for its time.

Varrok 10-05-2014 02:33 AM

Apparently Playfire+JoystickAwards will be giving free copies of the worse-than-original remake of XCOM provided you vote for their best games competition. Personally, I think the remake is worse because they cut most of the tactics and details of the original, it's much more streamlined (in a bad way) and lacks the charm of the original.

Here's the link.

Oh, my. It seems like I posted a link for a better game by mistake. Well... no need to complain, then.
...
...
FINE, the real link is here. Jesus

DarkHoodness 10-10-2014 07:33 AM

Free to try this weekend. Voxel game, a little like Minecraft in space, but more of a sandbox - Survival mode hasn't quite been fleshed out yet. It's fun to build ships and crash them together/into things by remote control, then watch them explode spectacularly. Workshop mods significantly increase the amount of blocks/components available.

DarkHoodness 10-20-2014 08:17 AM

Was offering some free TF2 items in this post - I've given them away now though, making this post redundant.

It's pretty much Monty Python: The Game.

Shade667 10-21-2014 04:56 AM

Phylum 10-29-2014 06:14 AM

no please i still haven't played any of the games from the last bundle yet

MeechMunchie 10-29-2014 11:39 PM

Bundle Stars are doing a raffle for $500 of Steam credit, and I'm kind of running a syndicate. If you enter via this referral link, I get entered into the raffle again, on top of any entries you get, so the idea is that we get 10 or so people and then we all get $50 each if any of us win.

I've got five people on board so far; our current chances are about 0.014%. Out of 140,000 entries, that's actually pretty good.

Make sure you post or PM or something so I can cut you in.
