Thanks for that insight, Crash. I really enjoyed the original Ratchet and Clank games and I was considering picking this up. I can't believe the HD remaster of the original 3 is STILL like 30 pounds secondhand. I guess when something is quality it holds it's price!
|
Ratchet and clank is amazing, but it doesnt feel like a classic ratchet and clank, not to me. I know what that feels like and it probably will never be replicated. The new one is much closer to the future trilogy in feel. Its not as weighty as the originals. Everything was so heavy back then.

Obsessed with Dark Souls 3 right now. Even better than the first.
|
I played Book 4 of Dreamfall Chapters. It came out like 5 months ago but I forgot about it. I'm recommending that whole series (The Longest Journey -> Dreamfall -> Dreamfall Chapters) to everyone it's great.
I also tried to play Dark Souls 3, got my ass kicked and quit the game. It still taunts me every time I see the tile on my Start thing. |
But you're not supposed to quit the game after you get beaten up xD

Believe in yourself.

I've avoided Dark Souls because I know for a fact it'll be the game where I smash my controller and punch a wall.
|
Punching walls helps you sometimes in Dark Souls. You might find a secret passage.

Dark Souls isn't difficult, it just punishes recklessness.
The third game is definitely what the second one should have been in my opinion. |
Fuck Aldritch though. This guy's driving me up the wall. That second phase is ridiculous.

I tried the Overwatch Beta today. Fuck that game. It is like TF2 with a load of nonsensical abilities bolted on and worse shooting.
|
lol
The shooting is good, coming from a devoted Quake player of too many years. Guns hit, and guns hit hard. Some characters are hard to aim with, like Tracer and McCree. If you're a shit player in shit positions then you will struggle to hit shots with them. Criticizing the shooting seems really odd to me, because even in shitty pub games I've solo queued for I can jump on Pharah or McCree and have a pretty fun time. Anyway it sounds like you're a shit player who solo queued for an hour then came on some old dead forum to make a 0 effort post about it so why am I even replying here. |
From everything I hear about Dark Souls, it's the kind of game I want to try and either:
A. Go into it with expectations of extreme difficulty, only to find that people are retarded and don't know how to play a game that doesn't hold your hand for every step of the way. or B. Go into it with the the expectation that everyone is a retard who don't know (etc. read the above) and promptly get my ass handed to me because it turns out to actually be as difficult as advertised. Both seem equally fun. Either way I'm still enjoying myself with Fallout 4's survival mode, which made the game actually worth playing. No fast travel together with an hilariously overpowered sniper build is tons of fun. I love plotting an efficient route using an out of game map and trying to make my character as overpowered as she can possibly be. So far I'm using Overseer's Guardian to one shot basically anything I encounter, safe for Deathclaws who need three shots. |

Ok so here is something a bit more indepth: Overwatch is a mess. When there is a team fight the screen is smeared with particle effects coming from both your team and the opposing side using their powers making it damn near impossible to tell what is going on. |
Why is it so many people are intent on shitting on the game after playing it for 5 minutes? Life is full of mysteries.
I'm playing the game on lowest everything and not getting distracted by that stuff. What abilities spam lots of particles anyway? Mei just generally firing her ice beam might make blur some stuff out, but her freeze being so powerful is a much bigger issue ;p Seriously though what particle mess is this that you don't get in other FPS games as you just generally shoot at people? There are particles but I don't think it's a big deal for visibility. |
I just played my first five rounds of Overwatch and I love it. Was never a big TF2 fan, though.
|
Just played the overwatch beta for the first time with Zero expectations. Im not a shooter fan. I love it. Its great.
Its what I want from a game. Fun. |
Ye you play on console though on you fucken scrub.
|
Overwatch is my new found love. I adore it.
I see a lot of comparisons to TF2, which is fair for a few things. But after playing TF2 to death, I can tell you from experience Overwatch is a much different game. It's got more Moba elements than TF2 honestly. Not only is the speed of the games totally different (there's not even a rocket jump), but all of the heroes have much more depth to them. The abilities are not "nonsensical" at all. It adds a lot to the gameplay and can even change the course of a game. It's not just run around shooting people with your class's specific weapon. I also found the more I played the game, The more I found it strategic And once you know what each hero does, It's far less chaotic. It's like Dota or LoL in that regard. Whatever. I'm enjoying the fuck outta it. |

Seriously though the game would be incredibly shitty without a mouse.
|
Any FPS is shitty without a mouse. I don't understand how people can play games like that on a console. I find it near impossible to play.

The original Xbox controller was one of the worst things I've ever used for gaming.
|
Yes, if you have tiny hands.
|
Halo was a much slower and less vertical game than OW. It was built around the controller. Slower Cod of Duty style games are better suited to a controller than any other FPS titles. They have generous auto-aim and few projectile weapons.
Overwatch is pretty twitchy. People can move fast, come from many places at once, and there are loads of projectile attacks that would be awkward to aim with a controller. I can't imagine playing against a Pharah with a controller. The second she did that vertical boost she's just gone. I play Overwatch with a higher mouse sensitivity than Quake Live, Quakeworld and even CPMA. Even in twitchy shooters, it's less common to need to snap around all over the place as things change in a fight. I might lower the sensitivity as I get better at reading the game, but I wouldn't be surprised if I stayed on 13@400dpi for a long time yet. |
Nah, u all just need 2 get gud.
Its actually not that bad. At least everyone is using a controller. |
Oh yeah it's even ground. As long as the controller shitters don't get aim assist on PC I don't care how you play really. But mice are superior for aiming without a shadow of a doubt.
|
Can someone please make an Overwatch thread so that it doesn't continue clogging up this one?
|
I'm playing the Uncharted Collection. Never had a PS3. Uncharted 1 is a rather monotonous game but so far Uncharted 2 is much more enjoyable.

I'm playing the new XCOM game and it's beating the shit out of me, but mostly because I really suck.
|
I just got DOOM and it's literally the most bad-ass game I've ever played. Slaying colossal demons and hellspawn with huge guns to an amazing death/thrash metal soundtrack? Yes please...
|
I bought Doom but haven't opened it yet, was thinking about returning it because there are a bunch of other games vying for my attention atm; but I've heard nothing but great things about it so probably keeping it.
I'm playing Uncharted 4 mostly which is awesome! I love how there are fewer gunfights tbh, it makes them satisfying when they're more proportionate to the puzzles and platforming which are all really fun. It's a perfect game, really. |
