Dynamithix 02-21-2011 04:59 AM

Murphy's creepy.

Daxter King 02-21-2011 01:57 PM

Tried mission mode in MvC3, fuck that. Why learn combos when I can button mash and juggle someone for 30 seconds?

Mac Sirloin 02-21-2011 03:48 PM

Exactly. I honestly believe that some fighting games take legitimate skill to play, but you just can't do that with MvC3, because it will only work against other people who play that way. It'll probably improve over time.

Daxter King 02-21-2011 04:05 PM

Its part of why I like it though, I mean, I do learn combos over time just by playing how I do, but whenever I have to break an air combo or something, I mash the shit out of those buttons. I was destroying some of my friend's earlier with this strategy, people who have spent hours in mission mode.

Crashpunk 02-22-2011 04:44 AM

I'm still in a Rayman mood so I started Rayman Revolution for PS2 which is essentially Rayman 2 but with better graphics.

f***ing love it.

Mac Sirloin 02-22-2011 05:18 AM

Wow, I am so incredibly sick and tired of hearing people talk about Rayman.

It's not like any Rayman game can every come close to how wondrous and fun the first one is anyway.

Anyway, I'm playing Minecraft.

Dynamithix 02-22-2011 05:34 AM

Yes, but they are really good. Every Rayman game was good until Raving Rabbids. It just killed the series.

I'm almost at the end of Splinter Cell: Conviction now.

Is it just me or were the NVG's (Night Vision Goggles) much better in every other Splinter Cell game except this one? I mean, sure, you can now see the enemies and shit, but I miss the old ones. You could move and sneak around with them on and your screen wouldn't turn blurry. I don't like that feature in Conviction.

Hoodlum Havoc is fantastic. It's just like the original, but with a Z axis. And it's occasionally funny, and it looks nice, and it plays well, and it uses good ideas, and it's just a perfectly formed little game. Nowadays games have to have a hook, some experimental form of gameplay to attract interest. Rayman 3 is the the hard-working, well-made template they work from.

with all the recent talk of GTA, i downloaded GTA 2 for free the other day, so i've been playing that. it was one of my favourite PS1 games, although its just as frustrating as i remember it.

i didn't even know they were just giving their early stuff away.

Hazel-Rah 02-22-2011 10:48 PM

They should remake Vice City with the GTA4 engine.

Dynamithix 02-23-2011 12:34 AM

Damn, if there's one thing really good in Black Ops, it's the zombies mode.

I've been trying to reach round 40 for a while with my 2 friends in the new map, Ascension. It is pretty damn hard after round 25. We've only made it to round 32.

YASSSSSS

I'll now be spending hours searching for that damn tank.

Strike Witch 02-23-2011 02:29 AM

Dragon Age 2 demo.

It works great on my PC, which is very reassuring. Everything seems much prettier, and female hawke is so hot. The game as a whole is a lot faster and more exciting, and it appears they cleaned up the UI quite a bit.

Rayman 1 was miles better. It was a fucking brutal platformer that required awesome patience, reflexes and skill. The challenges were creative and fun. It's the sort of game that you want to keep playing no matter how stuck you get because it's so well done.

Rayman 3 was a slightly challenging 3D platformer with nice, but simple, combat elements. You could mash your way through most of the combat and the only time the platforming was incredibly difficult was when the platforms were invisible. That said, it was incredibly solid. The challenges were creative and fun. It's the sort of game that's just nice to play because it's so well done.

To summarise, Rayman 1 and 3 are only alike in that they are both really well done.

Dynamithix 02-23-2011 03:05 AM

I thought Rayman 2: The Great Escape was pretty awesome too.

Dragon Age 2 demo.

As much as I love Dragon Age, the darkspawn's new appearance is...meh.

I'm sitting with 2100 Microsoft points, I don't want to get an early glance at it for about twenty minutes, just want it all at once.

I heard the combat is more hack 'n' slash compared to tactical, I hope this isn't true.

Strike Witch 02-23-2011 04:15 AM

That's the impression from the simplified tutorial level you start off with. You know, just like the first game.

As it goes it gets more tactical. The demo actually fast forward to a battle vs raiders in Kirkwall with a full party, it's pretty much pure DA.

Dixanadu 02-23-2011 04:21 AM

Good, I hope the appearance customization options are better.

Even if it didn't meet these expectations I have for it, chances are I'll still love it. Bioware haven't disappointed me thus far.

MeechMunchie 02-24-2011 09:46 AM

I toughened up, turned off the lights and completed the Amnesia demo. I solved some puzzles, lit some candles and "fought" (ran away from) some monsters.

I've got the brains. I've got the will. I've got the dexterity. But I don't think I've got the guts. It's on my Steam wishlist for now.

Dynamithix 02-24-2011 09:53 AM

Am I seriously the only one who thought Amnesia's demo wasn't that scary?

Shit, I was more afraid of Penumbra: Overture. That game's fucking scary.

MeechMunchie 02-24-2011 10:34 AM

If you're not scared by Amnesia, you're not playing it right. You've got to play it with an open mind to narrative play, and immerse yourself in the game. If I'd been reminding myself it was only a game every 30 seconds I wouldn't have been scared either.

Oh, and Penumbra and Amnesia are basically the same game.

Dynamithix 02-24-2011 11:30 AM

I know, I know. Still, I wasn't scared by it. I didn't play it in dark though. Neither did I play Penumbra in dark, but I still thought it was fucking scary.

GABBITS OWN 02-24-2011 11:35 AM

I have been playing Red Dead Redemption, so far so good.:fuzwink:

Crashpunk 02-25-2011 02:40 AM

I played Amnesia the other day. The part where your beeing chased by that invisable monster in the sewers was just utter madness and seeing the monsters and having to hide shuck me up.

Rayman 1 was a great platformer. But I think 2 and 3 were just better. Rayman suits 3D platforming more then 2D platforming in my opinion.

Dynamithix 02-25-2011 03:07 AM

I got Bulletstorm for my birthday today and so far it's very fun!

"Gah! You scared the dick off me!"

Are you fucking joking?

EDIT: Never mind! :D

Nope. not at all. I had much more fun with Rayman 3 then Rayman 1

Dynamithix 02-25-2011 04:43 AM

I thought Rayman 1 was somehow better, but I enjoyed Rayman 3 more. Rayman 2 is good, but in my opinion, worse than Rayman 3 or Rayman 1.

Mac Sirloin 02-25-2011 04:58 AM

Fucking. Rayman.
I'm playing Street Fighter 4 to get okay at fighting games.

Crashpunk 02-26-2011 05:45 AM

Street Fighter 4 for the 3DS is gonna be awesome.

Dynamithix 02-26-2011 06:51 AM

If I get the 3DS, I'll definitely buy RE: Revelations and RE: Mercenaries.

Possibly Rayman 3D.

Crashpunk 02-26-2011 07:59 AM

Possibly Rayman 3D.

:tard:

EDIT: Why did I get negitive Rep for this? Look I know some people don't like Rayman but me and Dynamithix do.

Dynamithix 02-26-2011 09:15 AM

Oh wait, it's another Rayman 2 port, isn't it?

Fuck it then. I have Rayman Revolution and Rayman 2: The Great Escape.

EDIT: Yay! My copy of Rayman 3 came in the mail today! Tomorrow I'm gonna set up my PS2 and start playing it through. So happy right now!

GABBITS OWN 02-26-2011 06:16 PM

Just bought Halo Reach, I don't think it was good as Halo 3 (Campaign) wise.

Strike Witch 02-26-2011 11:10 PM

Playin' bulletstorm.

"Oh, dicktits!"

Dynamithix 02-27-2011 01:49 AM

What Act are you on, Strike Witch?

Just beat Act 3, gonna play it through today probably.

Crashpunk 02-27-2011 04:08 AM

I think Rayman 2 is the most ported game ever.

seriously.
