Has anyone seen Slumdog Millionaire? Is it any good? My local newspaper reviewer (who I normally agree with) hated it but it's kicking arse on RottenTomatoes.

Havoc 12-27-2008 03:47 PM

Saw Australia in the movie theater. Damn good movie. Go see it!

Facsimile 12-27-2008 10:40 PM

I've heard very bad things about Australia the movie.

Also, worst name for a film ever.

Laser 12-28-2008 01:14 AM

I just finished watching Hancock.

Twas a good film. Not one of Will Smith's best, but still a good film

Munch's Master 12-28-2008 02:23 PM

I've seen lotsa films over Christmas. Big bunch of silly testosterone and explosions action films. Con Air among them, which had some absolutely brilliant performances in it from John Malkovich and the Hannibal-ish-guy (cant remember the actor's name, and no, not Anthony Hopkins before some clever dick suggests it). Bit silly that he got 8 years in prison for self defence but oh well.

Also recently saw the Golden Compass. Kept fairly true to the book until the ending, which was rather badly bollocksed up in my view. they really cannot make the sequels properly now, or at least not if they want them to be like the actual books.

Fuzzle King 12-29-2008 12:20 PM

i watched the new wallace and gromit episode, and the curse of the were-rabbit one.
They were brilliant and funny.I love the attention to detail in them.
for any non-britons,info:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallace_and_gromit

Leto 12-29-2008 12:53 PM

I'm pretty sure absolutely everyone on this forum knows about Wallace and Gromit, except maybe AIN.

Last thing I saw was From Beyond. pretty good rubber work in it. relatively hilarious. about a 7/10.

I didn't really know what to expect, but I was very pleasantly surprised. As a whole I thought it was a pretty good movie, even if it's not packed with action or something. It's worth a download at least, keep it in mind if you have to see a flick with your GF and don't want to fight over action vs drama.

Hobo 01-02-2009 12:35 PM

I saw Benjamin Button, holy shit I enjoyed that.

Right? Great movie.

I watched 'Reign Over Me'. Second film with Adam Sandler that I thoroughly enjoyed. Typically, I hate his films. But this and 'Punch Drunk Love' were very good.

I also saw 'Talladega Nights'. I couldn't tell you what made me watch this but boy am I glad I did. SO FUCKING FUNNY!!!!! I'm kidding. I fucking hated it.

Hobo 01-02-2009 02:05 PM

Holy jesus, your Talladega Nights comment had me scared for a second...

I'm all about the mind fuck. Occasionally, when the mood strikes, I am also about the ass fuck.

I'll be taking Abbey to see 'The Tale of Despereaux' tonight. Will report.

Leto 01-03-2009 11:35 AM

I wanted to see that, tell me if it's all visual fluff or if it's a spiritual plagiriser of Ratatouille

i saw Inland Empire last night, pretty typical Lynch stuff... have to watch a second time to get some bits etc but it's a toss up between "This film is fun" and "This film was a waste of 3 hours"

Hobo 01-03-2009 03:30 PM

Oh, I also saw The Spirit and really enjoyed it, but can understand why people would hate it.

Me wants to see that.

I liked 'Despereaux'. It was very good for a kid film.

I refuse to watch Lynch films. At some point I decided to stop volunteering for torture.

I saw it just before Christmas and I have to say it's probably the best movie I saw last year, and for a long time before that.

I had bowel problems during it and missed about half an hour. I should really see it again.

Anonyman! 01-05-2009 12:56 PM

I liked the Spirit. OH GOD WAS IT CHEESY.
But like, funny cheesy. Like fondue.

Hobo 01-06-2009 05:11 AM

I'M THE OCTOPUS I HAVE EIGHT OF EVERYTHING.

OddjobAbe 01-06-2009 08:02 AM

I just finished re-watching The Prisoner on DVD. What a great TV series. "I am not a number, I am a free man!"

The Watchdog was hilarious. It was a giant white balloon that would stop Number 6 from escaping the island.

Anonyman! 01-06-2009 01:11 PM

I liked the henchmen. The foot thingy was funny to me.

Disgruntled Intern 01-07-2009 12:43 AM

Pineapple Express.

Might have been funnier had I been stoned, but still fairly amusing sober.

OANST 01-21-2009 12:29 PM

I went to see 'The Wrestler' yesterday. It was fucking fantastic. Another great Darren Aronofsky film with the best performance Mickey Rourke has ever given. See it.

OddjobAbe 01-21-2009 12:30 PM

I just finished watching 'Way Out West' with Laurel and Hardy. Scratch cloning dinosaurs, try and find out how to clone Stan and Ollie.

Anonyman! 01-21-2009 12:43 PM

Burn After Reading. I recommend it, but I'm not sure why.

It's a very good movie but it's difficult for people to see that because of how tremendously good the Coen brothers previous films were. Taken just by itself and not put into the context of Coen brothers film, I think it does very well.

Havoc 01-21-2009 02:17 PM

Just saw 7 Pounds in the theater... And damn that movie can just grab you by the throat. I think this was the first time a movie managed to jerk a tear from my eye. I must be getting soft :(.

Leto 01-21-2009 02:21 PM

Then man up and pop a Viagra.

OANST 01-21-2009 02:23 PM

That Texas pussy won't fuck itself.

Mac Sirloin 01-21-2009 02:34 PM

Saw The Boondock Saints last Saturday. I liked it, although the whole "FUCK YEAH, VIGILANTES" attitude of the police was fucking stupid.

Also re-watched the three lord of the rings films over a couple of days, really good, but, holy shit, there were so many gay overtones, how could I have missed them?

I'm not trying to be a dick, either, there were just some super gay lines.

Also, Poultrygheist. Saw it a few weeks back and loved it. It's the new Troma movie and they did a fantastic job.

That was great. Funniest thing Brad Pitt has ever done.

You've never heard the phrase 'It's a little bit Sam 'n' Frodo'?

Saw an Israeli movie called Giborim Ktanim (Little Heroes). Was awful sweet, even though it was apparently a blatant ripoff of Stand By Me. Also, the kids managed to get stuck in a military firing range overnight with explosions all around. Fun.

Strike Witch 01-21-2009 04:54 PM

I just watched a Korean Comic film called Volcano High. It's kinda like Kung-Fu Hustle only a bit funnier and set in a school. Also, Telekinesis.

My friend Jordan has that. I'll have to ask him about it.

Saw Elizabeth: The Golden Age. Pretty good, though it wasn't on par with the first film in several ways.

Leto 01-21-2009 07:13 PM

The latest Futurama thingy, Benders Game? I didn't much care for it. Loved the previous few. This one was eh.

Anonyman! 01-22-2009 01:49 PM

Same same same. Favorite episode is still the one with the dog. ;_;

That and the one where he switches hands with the robot devil.

Wings of Fire 01-22-2009 01:58 PM

Seen two movies recently, Howl's Moving Castle and V for Vendetta.

Orgasmed over the first one, second was urgh, just urgh.

Hobo 01-22-2009 01:59 PM

What the fuck is wrong with Vendetta?

God.
