Strike Witch 02-14-2012 09:23 PM

I watched Predator 2 last night.

I love how as soon as the stealth cloaking thing is broken the Predator is reduced to a total pussy.

Dynamithix 02-14-2012 09:25 PM

I enjoyed Predator 2 more than I enjoyed the first or the latest one.

Anyone who has Sky might know of a series called Mad Dogs. It's about a group of long-time friends who end up in really complex situations and getting caught up in the world of crime and police corruption after being invited to their old friend's villa in Majorca and witnessing him getting murdered.

The show stars some of the most brilliant British actors including John Simm, Philip Glenister (Anyone who's seen Life on Mars will recognize them) Marc Warren and Max Beesley.

It actually makes you think what would you and your friends do in these situations. I highly recommend it.

fuck sakes. i don't have Sky, but that sounds awesome. i fucking love every single one of those actors, too. fucking hell.

Gawd damn, that film was awesome. I went into the cinema to see it (11.09.09) not the 9th, since I had no money.

I haven't seen it since then, but at first I thought...right...another Pixar-ish movie, but... I actually enjoyed it. It seemed more tailored toward a mature audience.

Just posting this because awesome happened. They cut out the payoff right at the end though.

I saw The Descendants yesterday. Excellent movie, can't recommend it enough. I would definitely go see it again just to spot more of the little details clipped into it here and there in the background. Very dis/likeable cast of characters, but it's hard not to find at least a little reason to empathize with each and every one of them. Not entirely sure about Sid saying his Dad die din a drunk driving accident; wasn't sure if it was supposed to be honest or not.

You can buy the DVD of the first season so you can still watch :)

I watched Dragonball Evolution.

Damn, that was painful to watch. It was like a combination of the old Power Rangers movie and every shit B-movie ever made.

Sekto Springs 02-16-2012 09:33 AM

People were hating that movie before it even came out.

You should watch "Dragonball: The Magic Begins". It was a Taiwanese, live-action Dragonball movie made back in '91. It's epic pulp, the way DB should be. I recommend streaming it online when you have an evening free.

That looks awful. I need to see it.

MA 02-16-2012 05:16 PM

i was one of those kids at school that couldn't fucking stand Dragonball Z or whatever it was called. i got as far as watching Pokemon, but that was it.

Mr. Bungle 02-16-2012 05:22 PM

I used to love it when I was really little. Don't remember much of the episodes or plots, but the characters are all there.

I mostly remember Vegeta turning into a giant monkey, and that big pink guy taking like 10 episodes to defeat.

It's was more like fifty. Maybe even one million.

Dynamithix 02-16-2012 11:03 PM

Wasn't that the case with every enemy though? They had like gazillion episodes for just one fight. I remember the whole Majin Buu saga taking like at least thirty episodes. Shit was pretty awesome though.

Dynamithix 02-17-2012 04:49 AM

Drive

This movie. This fucking movie. At first I ignored the movie because of the trailer. The trailer gave me a really bad impression of it because it made the movie look like a dumb action movie when it's actually far from it. I loved this film. I loved the main character and I loved everything about the movie.

One thing that just blew me away was the soundtrack. Goddamn beautiful.

I don't even want to actually write about the movie's plot or anything because I want every single one of you to watch it and be amazed, not knowing what to expect.

The Buu saga, in it's entirety, encompassed a huge chunk of the series. If you count the Tournament saga that served as a prologue, it's over 75 episodes long.

Wings of Fire 02-17-2012 09:31 AM

I could never take Buu seriously. The high point of DBZ for me was Gohan beating Perfect Cell in a Kamehameha battle.

OANST 02-17-2012 09:33 AM

The high point of it for me was when I stopped watching it.

Well, the DBZKai guys agreed with you there.

I actually liked the Buu saga, but only for Buu himself. The protagonist pool had gotten too saturated by that point for me to feel emotionally invested. It was pretty bad ass that the Kid Buu saga started with Buu blowing up the fucking Earth though.

Holy shit, Roshi in this film looks more accurate than he did in the other.

I shall download this crap once I watch the Tekken one. I've heard terrible canon-rape related things, so I'm looking forward to it's pish.

Sekto Springs 02-18-2012 09:34 AM

There was also a Korean one made a year prior that follows the original Dragonball canon more closely.

The FX are Power Rangers-level terrible, which makes it even more great.

Mr. Bungle 02-19-2012 05:48 PM

Just watched the new (500th!) episode of The Simpsons.

I thought it was pretty good, for a recent episode. Solid jokes that had me laughing throughout, a decent plotline, and some good callback to older episodes. Not the greatest episode, but definitely better than most of the duds that have been airing recently.

Overall, I liked it.

OANST 02-20-2012 12:00 PM

I smoked some sonic boom the other night, and watched Dead Man, for the first time in about twelve years. I fucking love that movie.

Sekto Springs 02-20-2012 12:06 PM

I love Dead Man. One of my favorite movies. Alot of folks hate it for some reason though. The main complaint was that William Blake wasn't alluded to as overtly as they would have liked, but that's because they're a bunch of stupid fucks who can't comprehend subtlety.

Update:
Saw Ghibli's latest joint, The Secret World of Arrietty. It was a simple film, almost boring at times. It certainly won't be regarded as one of Ghibli's best, but I can think of far worse ways to spend 5 dollars and 2 hours. A nice, predictable, pretty film. Certainly better than that live action adaptation of The Borrowers that came out some years ago.

Daxter King 02-20-2012 09:46 PM

Saw the new Ghost Rider movie. I'm not sure if it was intentionally bad at times or if was just plain bad. Either way, I enjoyed it enough. It was a fun, dumb movie, kinda wish he actually peed fire on something rather than it being a short visual though.

What a coincidence! I felt an exact same way when I watched that. Except for the "I enjoyed it" part

AlexFili 02-21-2012 01:22 PM

An intentionally bad music video with Kanye West. It features artifacts, compression and other graphical glitches. You'll either love it or hate it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMH0e...yer_detailpage

Ghost Rider 1 was good. I watched Blade 2. It's a guilty pleasure for me.

Dynamithix 02-21-2012 01:38 PM

Just watched From Dusk Till Dawn for the first time ever.

My dad recommended it to me, but he didn't really reveal anything of the movie and I'm really fucking glad he didn't because when I watched, I was extremely surprised by the twist and I'm sure it would've been a lot worse if I would've known about the latter half of the movie.

It was really one of the best action movies I've seen in a while. I mean c'mon, Clooney & Tarantino fighting vampires from dusk till dawn.

Nepsotic 02-21-2012 02:49 PM

An absolutely brilliant film, not sure about the other two though.

Crashpunk 02-21-2012 03:13 PM

MINI-CARTOON RANT!

I've recently been watching the newest seasons of Family Guy and Futurama online. (don't judge)

Family Guy has seriously lost it's appeal to me. The new episodes consist of having a serious storyline about a character. A characters that I don't care about. It makes the show boring and it takes out all the comedy out. Its more a soap opera with the occasional bad joke.

Futurama is really good. the new episodes are just like the old ones, They make me laugh in the same way. I've always loved Futurama and have thought it was the best cartoon comedy show out of them all.

I have yet to see the new episodes of American Dad but I can't wait too American Dad has always been funnier then Family Guy anyway I always thought. More so now.

Don't get me started on South Park, That show should of died a long time ago.
