Thanks Bullet Magnet. Now i know why Steef ears are so small and cute:fuzsmile:

But I can't understand why Lorne designed all these things about Oddworld and we won't see everything but we will only know that they exist.

The whole point of the quintology (and Lorne kinda said this in part 5 of the interview) is that it's too big a story to tell in one sitting. He's developed a huge story and as it goes along, we will see deeper and deeper in to Oddworld and will have to revise everything we previously thought we knew.

GlacierDragon 08-28-2008 05:42 AM

This has been bugging me for a while. In Stranger's Wrath, when you have to go to the junkyard (can't remember the name of the Outlaw you have to capture), you have to get a password. But on my version of the game the password is beeped out so you can't hear it. Does anyone know whay they actually say?

Bullet Magnet 08-28-2008 09:06 AM

Repeating that filth is so bad that even Alcar would get banned. Willingly. By himself.

Vexus 08-28-2008 10:55 AM

I heard there was a bunch of stuff planned for MO, but did not make it in due to technical constraints. What was all planned? I know a few things like Roid, returning to Rupture Farms, and Meetles, but I am sure there is more than that.

Jordan 08-28-2008 10:59 AM

Welcome to the thread Vexus. ;) Yes, a lot was cut from MO due to Microsoft not giving OWI enough time to make the game. I know Abe and Munch were to visit Sam, the Mudokon queen, and we'd learn a lot more about her.

crazysteef 08-28-2008 01:57 PM

I remember being so mad when Sam didn't make an appearance in MO. I really was looking forward to seeing an actual female character that existed on Oddworld.:D

Jordan 08-28-2008 02:13 PM

The closest thing we have to a female character is Jo' Momma. I can guarentee Sam will make her appearence some time or another. Most likely in the Oddworld films.

Bullet Magnet 08-28-2008 02:15 PM

There's always half the grubbs and clakkerz.

Jordan 08-28-2008 02:57 PM

Oh yeah! I forgot all about them...

Really? It’s bleeped out in your version?

Molluck being taken to court by Lady Margaret, Abe rescuing Sam from Vykkers Labs, being able to possess characters for extended periods to assume their lives and earn Moolah to afford the upgrades/promotions it’s necessary to get to have a high enough status to give orders to other enemy NPCs to clear a path for the protagonists, playing around with realtime environments with growing trees, changing water tables and diurnal and seasonal changes that affect gameplay, GameSpeaking with large numbers of characters to effect changes in the natural environments and factory interiors, possessing Lulu and building his fortune by turning around the fortunes of a string of struggling companies instead of just donating to the Lulu fund, Sea Rexes, Stangs, Mudflubs, Elums, Klime! vendos, finding low-status Mudokons and baby Meetles and nurturing them into more powerful creatures that you can use to retaliate against your enemies, a supernatural spooce cannon that turns slaughterhouse CEOs into livestock and lab workers into guinea pigs, the return of the Shrink, and a sneak preview of Squeek.

Despite their in-your-face femininity? Blimey!

Jordan 08-28-2008 05:10 PM

Haven't played in a while. I do remember beating the living crap out of them though, it always feels much better doing it to a woman.

Wow, so that was all planned for MO? That's a lot to say how early the Xbox was in the gaming industry.

You said there were also supposed to be Gloctigi, Kintos, and some other stuff. I have a question: are there chickens on Oddworld? Because there's a RuptureFarms product that's called "Tastes Like Chicken".

So I guess my question's never going to be answered?

If they can compare something to a chicken then I'd say yes. Afterall, just look at Clakkerz.

Wil 08-29-2008 02:40 AM

Yes, there are chickens on Oddworld. There are also bears (Uh-oh, Mr Gabbit: that’s a bear trap; I wouldn’t go near that if I were you), cats (Kitty cats are not speed bumps!) and pigs (Hey! I got an idea! Why don’t we get ourselves a fine meal of pork and beans?).

Bullet Magnet 08-29-2008 04:31 AM

"Bair" is the name of a trap manufacturer, a "kitikatt" is a species of domestic neotenous meetle, and pawk is actually a grain by-product.

Vlam 08-29-2008 04:37 AM

I have two questions:

How can Munch in MO put some dynamites in vykkers lab at the end ?
There something weird with scrabs in MO: why aren't they killing each other ? In AO an AE they can't live each other without fighting. (I'll hope that you will understand)

Wil 08-29-2008 04:41 AM

And ‘Skunk’ is just a mispronunciation of ‘Stunk’. A number of Oddworld races are afflicted with a rare but noteworthy speech impediment in which they have trouble with the unvoiced alveolar plosive, resorting instead to the unvoiced velar plosive. You can see why this would happen.

First question: With the aid of Fuzzles, Munch looted Vykkers Labs’ armoury, as told by one of these spinning Daily Deception newspapers. He then planted the explosives in R+D. The rest is fiery history.

Second question: Read the F.A.Q.!

And don’t worry, your questions were perfectly understandable.

Bullet Magnet 08-29-2008 05:16 AM

But of course. It's a miracle that everyone has a larynx, let alone the resonance and lingual dexterity required for speech. Not everyone has teeth though, and that presents a problem with the dental plosive and alveolar fricative, and Clakkers couldn't possibly manage the bilabials either. Come to think of it, how does a mudokon pronounce the nasal consonants?

Munch and the fuzzles raided the armoury shortly before, while Abe was managing by himself like the good old days.

Possibly because those levels were for the nesting scrabs. Those hollow rocks with grass poking out the holes are scrab nests arranged by the ancient mudokons. Alternatively (or coincidentally) they were set in regions of scarce food, and scrabs could not support themselves without a large territory in which to hunt without rivals trespassing. Or perhaps the ancient mudokons filled their temples and vaults with plants, fungi or lichen that release spores of pheromones that have the effect of initiating the transformation of an underling scrab into an alpha scrab.

The wilderness scrabs may have been females and/or underlings under the command of a single alpha. This may be normal scrab behaviour, or it may be permitted by living in a land of plenty, unlike the desert. even when vast ecological damage is dealt, scrabs stampede and rampage together on the hunt for food before vacating the area before they resort to intraspecies competition.

Vlam 08-29-2008 08:26 AM

Thank you a lot !

Anyway, what is really bothering me is the things on the left panel

I know anyone has the response but we saw it many times in AO FMV so that mean that it's suppose to have a meaning.

Laser 08-29-2008 08:43 AM

what on the y axis?

crazysteef 08-31-2008 07:15 PM

You mean the purple, green, blue, and red symbols? I have no idea what they are.:fuzconf:

Just wondering, but how big are Steefs when they're fully grown? If their heads are anything to go by, they must be huge!

Zerox 09-03-2008 08:40 AM

Isn't Stranger fully grown?

The horns seen on the heads of others could might cause something of an illusion.

crazysteef 09-03-2008 02:19 PM

Hmmm...Perhaps. But the Grubbs keep saying he's "kinda scrawny for a Steef," and it looked to me that the mounted Steef heads in Sekto's office were really big, even from where they were. Of course, there are runts in every species, and that just may be the case with Stranger.:p

A Friend Of Abe 09-03-2008 11:10 PM

why paramites and scrabs didnt kill the mudokons in the end of the AO.I saw a scrab and a paramite.

Thanks.

Xavier 09-04-2008 01:46 AM

They were probably tamed or too scared to try anything...

Fuzzle Guy 09-04-2008 02:51 AM

These Scrabs and Paramites appear to have been worshipped by Mudokons (Or at least BigFace) for some time. It's likely they were used to seeing Mudokons as friend and not food.

Bullet Magnet 09-04-2008 12:19 PM

Or they couldn't find a way down off the rocks.

Fuzzle Guy 09-05-2008 12:10 PM

Does anybody have a copy of the AE manual in PDF Format?

I know it's not strictly the right place for this but I didn't think this deserved it's own thread.

Jordan 09-05-2008 12:41 PM

Here. ;)
