I wasn't talking specifically about this, I'm mainly referring to films in general. I've been watching 18s for as long as I can remember and I'm pretty sound in the head. Sex scenes can be a bit awkward but I don't get what the big deal is about seeing a chunk of brain splatter out of somebody's head. It's not real.

Hooray! Another Venture fan! I, unfortunately, have a crippling obsessive personality and I can't stop watching Adult Swim's 24/7 stream of the show.

This season is interesting though. It's the first season that's really serialised. Their attention to detail really in fantastic, though.

I watched Fargo (the movie) a few weeks ago, but I just rewatched it again with friends last night. That movie is absolutely hilarious. I think Carl Showalter might be my favorite role by Steve Buscemi.

Watched The Martian. Frigging adored it.

Had me on the edge of the seat so many times.

The Martian was boring. One question I do have about the move though: How did the perchlorate in the Martian soil not affect him?

I'm more interested how he Managed to survive launching off Mars and spinning wildly above the surface. The whole end part would of been sooo risky to do in real life.

But then I answer with: it's a movie. Who fucking cares? ;)

I watched The Purge last night with some friends. First movie. Pretty fucking dumb. Not the kind of dumb to get annoyed over, but just really silly and boring. My friends want to watch the sequel and then the new one in theaters when it's released.

I have a friend who loathed the first Purge movie, but he says The Purge: Anarchy was actually entertaining. I hesitate to use the words 'good' with these movies because they're really, really, really, really stupid, but I may go to see Election Day since it looks pretty nuts.


I watched the 2001 animated Metropolis, a rough recreation of the 1927 feature. It's a phenomenal piece of visual storytelling, but it's got so much weird, jilted exposition. Just that classic bad anime dubbing:

"RED DUKE, MY FATHER, YOU SHOULD SIT ON THE THRONE, NOT THIS MACHINE!!!"

I felt a little irked by the awkward dialogue by the end but it was really, really beautiful. Just a fantastically gorgeous movie. Metropolis itself is so complexly realized as the city of the future, and while it does have some stilted dialogue the themes are consistent, the soundtrack is great and it just looks amazing.

I keep seeing people complaining that the movie suffers from a soundtrack that doesn't suit the setting, but I think it captures it perfectly. Tons of Jazz and Rhythm and blues from pre and post depression America, capturing the sense of exceptionalism and the low-down bepop lifestyle of the Zone 1-ers and beyond. It's like people want it to have some convoluted, overproduced instrumental or irritating electronic score, but I think that Ray Charles' rendition of "I can't stop loving you." is extremely fitting for this sequence, and animation is one of the few mediums you could use a dissonant soundtrack to your advantage to assist the tone of an otherwise lighthearted feature.

I saw Spotlight recently, that movie about the journalists that worked for the Boston Globe that released a huge story about child molestation in the catholic church in 2002

Was damn fucking good, and having only been 9 at the time this all took place and not having done research into it I was pretty baffled. It was really well directed and respectable for the type of story it was, too. Kept me interested from start to finish. Would definitely recommend giving it a look.

I saw The Revenant on Thursday and it was fucking sick! The film was visceral, beautiful and superbly acted by both Dicaprio and Hardy. I just wish Tom Hardy's accent wasn't so thick as it made understanding him difficult at points.

This looks absolutely bizarre. I have no idea who is going to see this movie, or why. I doubt I will, at this point. Maybe it's the lack of sleep, you know? But it looks like one of the strangest things ever given a budget.

I think it looks hilarious. I'll probably watch it.

I watched Being John Malkovich yesterday.

It's sorta surreal and really weird, it's really rare when a movie manages to keep surprising you throughout the whole movie, it's got funny parts, philosophical parts, deep parts and even creepy/disturbing parts at some points.

In a word, greatest mind-fuck I've ever had.

That sounds like my jam. I'm going to add it to the top of my list to watch.

I watched Zootopia today at the cinema. The sloth scene at the DMV had me in stitches - even more than the trailer did. That was my favourite joke throughout the whole film but they had some good other jokes like the population growth of rabbits.
The story was pretty interesting. Nothing special but still enjoyable and mysterious (with a jump scare I fell for.)
Overall a good "wait until it's on Blu-Ray" film. I give it 3 hand-cranked vibrating dildos out of 5.

I watched The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya.

It was beautiful, if a little contrived and difficult to follow. Moreso the latter. But yay, definitely rewatchable, even if it is nearly three hours long.

I saw that, too, and was pretty weirded out as well. I'm not really sure what the target demographic is? I mean, obviously Seth Rogen's stoner fanboys will eat up whatever he attaches himself too, but it really looks like what should have been a simple, stupid chlidren's movie that got remarketed towards the stoner demographic. I don't know. Is stoner demographic even a thing?

Maybe Seth Rogen has a new line of munchies he's trying to push. I don't know. That trailer freaked me out, and now I'm just grasping at straws.

Looks to me like Seth Rogen came up with a title pun, then struggled to come up with a script good enough to go under it.

Yeah. I dunno. It just seems like typical Seth Rogen shit to me.

The second season of Daredevil is out on Netflix. It's really good. Also this fight scene

Continuing to watch Season 2 of Star Wars: Rebels. It's getting really good. The finale is coming up and it's looking to be amazing.

I saw Midnight Special. It was horrendous.

I've started watching Sons of Anarchy and it's really good. Currently on s02e02 and shit is getting real.

Oh yeah, so I forgot to mention that I watched Batman vs. Superman last Saturday. It was dumb. Yeah. I'm not big into DC Universe at all so I wasn't too invested in it, so there's not much I can say about the ways Batman and Superman were portrayed in it aside from what basic knowledge I know and what I've read/heard other people say, but yeah. Also, Lex Luthor was the worst character in the movie. Also, the pacing is terrible and it drags on way longer than it needs to.

I just finished watching The Wall for the 3rd time this week...

I almost finished merlin, that bbc show about that wizard guy, It reminded me of a fantasy doctor who with the writing and acting. It feels like theyre rehashing a load of shit but i gotta finish it now it's like the law.

I saw Inside Out today. One of the best animated films I have ever seen and top tier Pixar at its finest.

What is so great about it?

It looks gorgeous, it is funny, heart-breaking and just a damn good time. The entire premise is presented in a very fun and clever way.
