It's weird.. But I can never hear the difference between Flac or MP3 ... MP3 is supposed to be really bad quality, but to me it all sounds the same. I probably have a really untrained ear though, as I can barely understand what people say when they speak to me.

Leto 01-12-2010 09:56 PM

basically if you don't have the ear for it, it doesn't matter at all. the only thing i wont stand for is the use of earphones.

http://whalen.files.wordpress.com/20...ne-earbuds.jpg

not only are they actually hazardous to your hearing by injecting high powered short wavelengths directly into your eardrums, they have shocking low and mid tone clarity. i emplor you: if you use earbuds, just stop, even cheap headphones will do better. they are the most common headphone on the market, and are the absolute lowest of low quality. personally, they are really uncomfortable for me (i don't have the right ear shape for them).

makes me facepalm for the world. especially at the volumes people listen to music with them. whole generation is gonna have hearing issues.

I hate earbuds... The sound really is worse and they make my ears itch, sweat and hurt :( I don't even know why.
But if I wanna listen to music on the street, I use earphones, because I'm afraid of being generalized as one of them fancy wanna-be people. I dunno.. For some reason many people judge against the use of headphones in public... I've considered using headphones on the street many times though... Meh. I can't now in the winter anyway.

I tend to put the volume at a reasonable low volume when I use earbuds though.

I already have hearing problems, but I haven't used Earbuds in about two years. Instead I use bigass headphones desperately trying to look like Skullcandy.

I used to have a set of Bose headphones, I think. They were awesome and I got them for free.

My problem is that because my hearing is slightly deficient, things are less loud (a durr) so I need loud music=hearing affected more=need louder music

I also have really bad luck with headphones/earbuds. Usually I listen to music with my MP3 player in my shirt pocket or coat pocket, but I guess this strains the wire because the speakers have a stupid habit of cutting out on one side. This has happened innumerable times.

or more insulated sound cancelling/isolating headphones (usually called "closed air"). i'd recommend these http://www.cameratim.com/reviews/aud...eadphones.jpeg as a good entry level closed air headphone.

less outside noise = less inclination to turn mp3 player up louder

T-nex 01-13-2010 03:51 PM

Sennheizer is a really good brand.
They make great quality. I just don't always have money for their stuff x_x ... The last headphones I had, my sister accidentally broke. As did my heart. All that money wasted.

Leto 01-13-2010 04:15 PM

yeah, even the cheap ones for people who aren't really into audio are pretty expensive. i had my pair of eh150s for about 5 years before they finally broke :( as with my heart. I don't like my new senns anywhere near as much

Gah, I think the pair I have qualify, but they're too small for my gorgeous and gigantic head. They let in way too much noise, too.

I'm actually addicted to this song

Leto 01-13-2010 11:53 PM

lol, i love the original

Taco 01-14-2010 12:24 AM

I wonder if she consciously picked a beat that sounds like the mario track

MeechMunchie 01-22-2010 10:31 AM

The Darwinia soundtrack. I know I talk about Darwinia too much, and I normally I would mention game music in a game thread, but hey, you can get it on a CD. More to the point, they are definitely good enough to be songs in their own right. They don't even sound particularly soundtrack-y (like a certain game that rhymes with 'Rorrorind'...).

OANST 01-23-2010 10:58 AM

Abbey's new favorite song. Well...song is stretching it.

Majic 01-24-2010 09:20 AM

Got to see Infected Mushroom last night, that was a hell of a show. They definitely surpassed my expectations, especially considering the usually lame club venue. T'was quite a difference from hearing psytrance in secluded woodland locales like I'm used to. If only the opening acts hadn't been a terribad lineup of entirely unrelated electro-house. Waiting for their main set was seriously a test of patience. For the non-electronica enthusiasts, let me put things into perspective. Imagine say, Nickelback and Creed opening for Pantera >.>

Really? I saw them last year and was nothing but disappointed with them.

was recently reminded of that song.

had that for ages.

Wings of Fire 01-31-2010 07:43 AM

Let's Reich it up!

Mac Sirloin 01-31-2010 04:16 PM

The finished song is MUCH better.

MeechMunchie 02-01-2010 09:47 AM

I'm going through an old school rock phase again.

In other news, I've discovered The Blanks, an a capella band I quite like. They played 'Ted's Band' in Scrubs.

Taco 02-02-2010 02:38 AM

For some reason I really enjoyed this song

Fluid 02-02-2010 12:49 PM

Celts are quite good.... not my favorite though

I love Seasick Steve. I prefer it when he only plays with three strings, as it's more of a novelty, but no matter how many strings he plays on, he's excellent.

I prefer the diddly-bo, thats more of a novelty.

One of the best performances IM ever played.

I'm going away for the weekend and I'll be driving heaps so I'd like some good driving music. I'm into pretty much anything from metal (no death/black or screaming in general) to dance to pop to whatever. Something lively that'll go well with driving. Can anyone help me out? And yes I already have a AC/DC

Strike Witch 02-03-2010 11:56 PM

This is goddamn wonderful.

Alcar 02-04-2010 12:35 AM

Catchy. If only I could understand it.

Consider yourself set for all weekend with one song.

Just discovered Ian Brown.

He is brilliant. 'nuff said.

they were playing that down the pub last night!

only punk band i genuinely like listening to. and they were the first punk band in Britain to bring out an album and single, the Sex Pistols did not. pisses me off how some people think the Sex Pistols did fucking everything first.

Dave Vanian is still a tosser, though. love Captain Sensible. leaving The Damned was a pretty decent move on his part, i reckon.

Dear Wings of Fire,

In reply to a comment in a blog recently where you stated that a Heavy metal song can't put you in a good mood, I politely ask you to shove that statement up your ass.

Yours sincerely,
Ridg3

T-nex 02-16-2010 06:39 AM

Tin Hat Trio really rox! Splat random mentioned them and I fell in love ever since :)

They make weird jazz-like instrumental music.

This is great music to draw to ^^
