I wish I could find an album version of this to share, but this song is quickly becoming a favorite of mine from the new album.

I saw these guys live last night. This was their encore.

I think I realise why that song got so popular, despite going against all the trends of the time.
The main [bit of the tune - there's a fancy word that I'll remember later] of the song sounds just like "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star". It's so ingrained into the Western subconscious, associated with the innocence of childhood, that everyone immediately felt empathy for ol' Gautier. EDIT: Actually, it sounds a bit more like "Baa Baa Black Sheep". It's pretty much the same tune though. |

Off the top of my head it's Twinkle/Baa/Alphabet in a mixolydian mode.
|
The more I hear that song, the more I like it. Even if it does heavily borrow melody from nursery rhymes.
|
The more I hear that song the more I wish I wasn't hearing that song.
Edit: But don't get me wrong. It's a really pretty song, and it's well crafted. If I didn't find it to be thematically pedestrian I would probably like the song quite a bit. |
This one is worth it just for the video.

STM may find this interesting:

I need to find myself a copy. I need this album. I heard Anneke's back doing vocals on this one, too. I adore her.
Still listening to this album fairly regularly. It's become one of my favourite Radiohead records. |
I bought 4 new Beach Boys albums cheap the other day. I'm enjoying hearing some of their 70s Prog Rock stuff.
This song was written by Dennis Wilson, the drummer. This keeps getting stuck in my head. It's sophisticated, but definitely in the Beach Boys style. |
I think this song was downloaded more than IE9. I like him. |
That was the song that gave me my "Dub-Step" idea. Now I can't listen to it without rocking onto my front foot.

Finally someone uploaded New Town Burnout to Youtube. This is by far my favorite song from the new Animal Collective album, and really just one of the best songs they've ever recorded.

So... Epicloud just came through the door today along with a teddy bear. I think it's totally Devin even though it's filled of catchy hooks we haven't heard from since Addicted. It's an album that can compete in the mainstream industry without really sounding as though he went mainstream, it still retains its Deviness if you know what I mean. But this song is my favorite so far, which is bound to change after a few more playthroughs I'm sure, it's so damn mellow. |
