OWI made that movie to prove the quality of the footage they were expecting to produce for MO and later games. The designer for that level found that he had some system memory spare and decided to put the video in as a bonus for the fans.

So they had to fill a hole and they didn't know how to do it and then they put it there to do it... XD! But I meant in the game, what was it supposed to be?

Xavier 08-21-2008 10:08 AM

They didn't really have a hole they had to fill... It's not like there was a big wall with nothing on it and had no clue what to put on. :p They just had some memory place left and decided to put something on the wall that took more memory than a standard texture.

And for the in-world interpretation, you might see it as some inspirational propaganda made for Sligs, which was a huge failure because most of them were sleeping in that facility anyway. (if my memory serves right)

Bullet Magnet 08-21-2008 01:00 PM

And it was stuck on an infinite loop. Don't forget that.

Fuzzle King 08-22-2008 08:25 AM

i think this is the right place,so here it goes.
iv just started playing SW properly(i tried before but left it for awhile so i started again).anyway iv just killed elboze freely and have just found there is a black market in new yolk city, but i needed a password to get there after killing x'plosives.is there any other way of getting it now iv gone past him?
its probably nothing special but i just wanted to know.

Xavier 08-22-2008 08:58 AM

The password is given by a Clakker in New Yolk. She's situated halfway to the elevator when you are coming from the shop, somewhere on the right side of the main street. She's speaking much louder then the rest, shouldn't be too hard to locate.

I'm not sure when she appears or disappears though.

Fuzzle King 08-22-2008 09:35 AM

thanks!
its just that i heard you can only get the password after getting x'plosives but before signing a new bounty.i half way through getting fatty mcboom boom, just gotta get him and ill try it.

Wil 08-22-2008 01:46 PM

No, Maggie (the Clakker who gives the password) disappears when you take out another bounty. You’ve missed out but, frankly, it doesn’t make much of a difference. The Black Market gives you barely any advantage.

Xavier 08-22-2008 10:25 PM

How did you find out her name? Trough the ripped files?

Nate 08-22-2008 11:28 PM

OMG... THAT CLAKKER IS THE GLUKKON QUEEN!!!!!?!

Wil 08-23-2008 12:27 AM

Hey, I have to put up with you and Fuzzle Guy having the same name. Oddworld is ten times bigger than Earth, but they don’t necessarily have ten times as many names.

Fuzzle King 08-23-2008 12:32 AM

actually iv just bountied mcboom boom and took him back to the town and oddly enough i found her and got the password.strange...
anyway thanks for the help but iv noticed that now my secrets out in the game i have lost my ammo and steel knuckles,so iv just wasted my money.o well.

I concede your point but defend myself by claiming that I was shouting it ironically, before anyone made a serious post asking that.

Or perhaps I just like to spam.

crazysteef 08-25-2008 04:11 PM

Is there only one Glukkon Queen alive at one time, or are there multiple ones scattered all over Oddworld?:fuzconf:

Wil 08-25-2008 05:06 PM

There are multiple Glukkon Queens, each with their own industrial empire.

Is the Magog Cartel the most important of them?

Nate 08-27-2008 03:51 AM

Lady Margaret is only one member of the Magog Cartel. There are a number of families of many species that run the Cartel.

Many species? As in ones besides Gluks, Vykkers, Sligs (Skillya), etc. (possibly Chroniclers?), that is to say, unseen species?

Nate 08-27-2008 04:54 AM

Heh, I actually had to go back to my interview to see whether he mentions that in a bit that's already been published. Seeing as it's coming this friday, I won't answer it here.

And who told it? I mean, how can you know that?

Xavier 08-27-2008 11:35 AM

He is the guy who interviewed Lorne a couple of months ago... :p

But I can't understand why Lorne designed all these things about Oddworld and we won't see everything but we will only know that they exist.

He can flesh out his universe all he wants

We will probably see the other species in the future. And it's a universe, not just a game.

Bullet Magnet 08-27-2008 01:55 PM

Or rather, just the bit of it that can be seen from Oddworld. Not that we spend that much time looking up at anything further than the moons.

crazysteef 08-27-2008 02:37 PM

It would be awesome if Oddworld released some graphic novels surrounding their universe. Those things are a lot less expensive to produce than a video game, and can tell amazing stories with the use of pretty pictures. :D
Anyway, I was wondering, why do Steefs have such little ears?

I think all the extra stuff gives Oddworld deapth. If there were just the things we see in the games it would be a bit flat.

Yeah. I'm dying for them to come out with more Oddworld-liscious stuff!:fuzmad:

Jordan 08-27-2008 02:54 PM

I can't see him releasing any novels any time soon guys, but it's a wonderful idea, I'd be happy with just another art book. Maybe in the future, I'm pretty sure we've got a lot more coming our way.

Anyway, I was wondering, why do Steefs have such little ears?

In the old days the ancestors of Old Man Steef had slightly smaller ears than the other horned Oddworld creatures, and that the ears did not get in the way of the horns so easily where they would be torn and infected in battle was advantageous enough that more short eared steef survived, passing on the short ears in their blood just as a grubb might inherit his grandfather's rod. Some say, however, that it is all a lot more complicated and this explanation only applies to the larger ears of the meep ram. And so it is.
