The travelling was indeed awesome. The atmosphere of being out at sea was brilliant, wish more game developers could pull it off the way Nintendo did.
Triforce hunting was a big pain, though. |
I was referring to the Triforce hunting, although the sense of achievement upon finding all the shards was beautiful.
|
I don't really mind the sea, Now I've got the ability the use the tornado's to fast travel to different places. I'm still amazed away how big it really is. It blows Skyward Sword's Sky out of the...Water.
(sorry). |
I liked Triforce hunting. Also loved finding all the fish. I don't know what it was about that game, but I loved every single second of it. The only thing I could have asked for was maybe one more island populated the way the windmill town island was, with all of the little side quests you could do there. I fucking loved that town.

If you want to talk about... whatever it is you're talking about, make a thread for it. This is the 'What are you playing right now?' thread.
|
I'm not playing nay game right now because I'm posting on the forum!
But seriously, I started Treasure Adventure Game the other day. It's like a slower, less linear version of Cave Story. There's lots of backtracking, but each time you revisit a location you find a faster way through it, or find a place to use a new skill to progress through a puzzle you'd forgotten existed. |
I dicked around in Burnout Paradise for an hour or two. It's weird, I don't normally like car games but the whole open-worldish thing this one has going is oddly compelling.
I didn't even do a whole lot, just drove around really fast and jumped off a few ramps and stuff. |
Impossible Creatures yet again. This time I've bothered to play long enough to get stuck on Level 9 against Dr. Ganglion's Insect-o-frogs.
Favourite creature so far is the Lobster. Oh, and for the ponyfiddlers, the protaganist (EDIT: Make that "Almost every male character in the game") is voiced by the same guy as Snips. Also Ravage in Beast Wars. |
For those of you with iOS devices, I've been playing Ridiculous Fishing off and on over the past week or two.
It's a game that feels very well made, and it's got a great sense of humor. If you have an interest in iOS games this is probably a good investment for you. |
So I'm considering getting a Vita in a week or so when I get the bulk of the inheritence my Nana left me (I specifically asked my mum to put it in an icer while I was at university so I wouldn't just fall back on it).
What are people's experiences with the Vita? I'm not exactly an intensive game player so I don't really care if the catalogue isn't fantastic, as long as I can look forward to one great game every few months. Also, apparently you can buy a version that double functions as a tablet for an extra £80. That sounds pretty cool. Also I really really want to play Persona 4. |
I beat the first Max Payne and Spec Ops: The Line yesterday. I really liked Max Payne's story and the voice-acting, but the gameplay was a bit frustrating at parts.
I pretty much played Spec Ops: The Line just for the story, which I had heard good things about. The gameplay was just like your regular shooter these days, but it worked well enough. Dubai worked great as a setting for the game, especially when you're on top of some of the buildings, it's an amazing view. The story was really fucking dark, I'm not completely sure if I should have played this game, it's seriously twisted, it fucks with your mind in a few parts and there are multiple endings that are all beyond fucked up. There's really no correct choices to make in the game, they're all moral choices but they are all horrifying and the outcomes are never what you want them to be. Great, but disturbing game. I didn't even bother touching the multiplayer as the game devs themselves said that it was just tacked on to the game by 2K's demand. :
One of its bigger problems are the damn memory cards, you have to buy a ridiculously priced Vita branded memory card if you want to be able to download anything digitally, I have a 16gb memory card coming in the mail right now and that damn thing cost me 38 euros. The battery isn't too great, but it's pretty much the same as the 3DS. And of course the other complaint, which you didn't seem to care too much of, is that there aren't too many games, but they are going towards a better direction with Soul Sacrifice, Tearaway and the new Killzone. But you probably want to hear good things too about the machine and for me, one of the greatest things about it is the PS1 game support they added last year. I don't own a PS3 so this is a great way for me to play classic PS1 games that I missed. Only shitty thing is that some of the games require you to use the rear touchscreen 'cause the Vita doesn't have four triggers. I've gotten used to it by now, but it's still pretty uncomfortable. The Vita also has a very promising indie line-up coming this year (Hotline Miami, Bit.Trip Runner 2, The Binding of Isaac) and there are already some very good downloadable titles like Super Stardust Delta (which I still need to pick up, it's a great game!), Escape Plan, Sine Mora and Sound Shapes, so if you're into that kind of thing, you'll like it. Overall it's a decent handheld that's just a bit too expensive right now and it desperately needs a few more solid games to really shine in comparison to the 3DS. I have not played Persona 4 Golden, but I have heard that it's pretty much one of the best games for the system right now. I hope I didn't describe the system too negatively. |
Does it play PSP games? That could definitely tide you over while the Vita library builds up some more.
|
Oh yeah, forgot to mention that, it does have a PSP game section in the PSN store. I haven't bought any, but have been thinking of getting Gods Eater Burst.
|
Corpse Party is also amazing.
|
Machinarium: My save file keeps getting auto deleted if I don't play the game for a long enough space of time it seems. So this is the third time I've had to start from the beginning...I still can't remember what the fuck to do sometimes and I still haven't completed the game. Good job it's so beautiful.

I haven’t yet used a Vita so I can’t tell you how good it is to use, but there does seem to be a slow-but-steady trickle of good games coming out for it (P4G, Stranger HD, etc). Plus there’s the fact you can play PS1 games you bought from PSN on it. That’s a big standout feature for me. Oh, and there’s the whole PS4 <-> Vita functionality if you’re interested in getting a PS4. |

I've been replaying Final Fantasy 7 this week. I'm at the endgame and just about done with the smaller less important sidequests but I still have the Wutai side story (which I might not be able to access since I'm on disc 3), Chocobo breeding, Gold Saucer and The ancient forest. Plus beating Emerald and Ruby Weapon. I reached the end 10 hours sooner than my last run, but I also cheated and gave myself a shitload of Gil in that game and had more time for grinding and morphing enemies. |

Picked up Diablo 3 again recently. Not quite as bad as I remembered it but hey, Torchlight 2 is still better, in my opinion. At least for some things. The combining isn't nearly as harsh in D3 though, but less flexible. Sort of hacking my way through Act 2 Nightmare with a pretty good all-around Wizard, with a ton of crap bought off the auction house in my equipment slots for good measure. Everyone has better RNG luck than me.
My skill kit is Electrocute, Disintegrate, Frost Nova, Ice Armour, Magic Weapon and Hydra. I love Hydra and Ice Armour so much. I'm also a horrible person and I've gotten one of my friends playing WoW. |
Diablo 3 was a travesty. I haven't played since they apparently "fixed" all the problems (which I refuse to believe given ActiBlizzard's recent track record) but I can't see myself going back to it.
|
D3 wasn't that bad. The new patches don't "fix" the game, but they add some damn good reasons to get back in to the grind.
I definitely had more fun with Torchlight 2, and PoE has a tonne of potential. |

|
I had fun playing D3, even if it was dumbed down. Are you telling me you didn't?
At the end of the day I didn't feel like I got $80 worth, but I still may go back to it yet in the next few patches. |
So glad I just got the demo for that.
:
Apart from that, I just counter melee with ranged and ranged with melee. Research Radar Pulse as soon as possible and use it to target every coalfield on the map. |

Yeah, though that doesn't affect the campaign.

I am currently playing Fallout 3 and New Vegas, and am going to get Luigi's Mansion. By the way, does the karma meter in Fallout 3 remind anyone else of the quarma meter from Munch's Oddyssee? The more good you become, the more angelic the face on the meter is, while the more evil you are, the more devil-like it becomes. In Fallout 3, however, there are advantages and disadvantages to being either a schmuck, neutral, or a hero. In Munch's Oddyssee, you only get some funny alternate speeches from the Shaman depending on your quarma and extra cutscenes (And trophies in the PS3 version) for being completely evil or good.

He's only one number off.

Yeah lots of controversy regarding Diablo 3. Hopefully they can sort out those issues for next time.

I've probably bought too many games this month but I'll try and survive April without buying any. Up to level 45 in CoD:BOII multiplayer, will soon be trying out Batman on the Wii U. I also want to try out Mario & Sonic at the 2012 Olympics since I've not played any of those games yet. Impossible Creatures is fun but it can't really compare to Spore (or Bullfrog's classic game Genewars). I personally found Gods Eater Burst the perfect PSP game, it's great in short bursts and it's not as needlessly harsh as Monster Hunter in terms of fighting bosses and crafting. Monster Hunter does have some gorgeous visuals though, particularly on Tri/3 |
Completed Impossible Creatures.
Mid-final mission I was getting pounded by Archer Hippo artillery, so I went for Julius's poorly-defended water chambers with my Losbtephants, and stationed one on every beach to take out the Henchmen who came running to build new ones. This stopped him from building all his amphibious units. His only other artillery units were Girafanzees, which had lower health and defense, so taking them out wasn't much of a problem for my Whalemeleons. After that I started occupying his coalfields, rapidly starving him of resources. He ploughed all of his remaining coal into Henchmen, presumably trying to find undisputed resources, but they were swiftly cut down. Twenty minutes of seige later, I marched my triumphant monsters into his base, where they were met with all four of Julius's remaining creatures. He couldn't afford to produce new ones. Hooray for strategy! Team: http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/585/ic00180.png Yes, there's only eight (of a possible nine). I liked to have a free slot so I could cobble together new monstrosities on the fly - usually a cheaper or lower-level version of an existing creature for when resources were scarce. Favourite creature: I do like Lobsters, but it has to be Henchmen. They proved surprisingly capable over the course of the campaign, often defending my base alone when my beasts were out predating. Here's a picture of them beating up a porpoise. http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/9978/ic00140.png |
Impossible creatures holy shit.
I thought I was the only person who ever played that. I've just finished Caesar 3, the campaign is so difficult. |
It's not a great game, to be honest. I probably won't play it again. It just felt weird to have never finished a game I played when I was 10.
There'll never be a sequel of course. Let's all observe a moment's silence for Relic. |
I'm surprised by your chameleon whale. I've never found any part of the chameleon besides the head and tail to be worth a damn. With the possible exception of the torso when combined with a giraffe, but no one in their right mind would deploy such a monstrosity. Not when the musk ox is available.
In fact, all three of your level fives are far too slow for me. Though for all that, the elephant is definitely good for all that. I've used in myself, and the rhinoceros equivalent was most effective against Ganglion's archer hippos. I've also used that same mountain lion and flying scorpion. I've also made the fish chimp, but purely for my own pleasure rather than deployment. The first time I completed the game I used scorpions with whale heads for the final assault, with were potent enough to pound their way in the front door with absolutely no tactics whatsoever. The primary benefit being that it's ranged attack would take down flyers and antwhales, but will always close to melee against buildings where the claws can come into effect. Fuck, they were slow. Most recently I combined the whale with the komodo dragon. These days I find it difficult to invest in creatures without regeneration. The sperm whale pisses me off though. It's clear that Relic had only ever seen a picture of one in profile. Not sure what their excuse for the ant was, though. Or the dragonfly. Or the scorpion. Or the lobster. :
They never intended to make a sequel. Unfortunate. Do you know that the creatures they cut from the game during development included the octopus, penguin and henchman? I'd have like to see that. |

After receiving a very generous gift from a friend who preordered Bioshoch Infinite, I am now playing XCOM Enemy Unknown. I've seen loads of this game on YT beforehand, since I liked XCOM UFO Defense a lot, so I was interested. Pretty amazing experience. To be fair, many things have changed and/or have been dumbed down in the new title. The micromanagement in combat, for instance, is completely gone - in the old game, it was often a lifesaver that I could have one of soldiers chuck a spare clip over to someone who ran out of ammo. I've only recently finished contructing the Hyperwave Relay in my base, which picked up an Overseer class UFO, which I managed to shoot down with a Firestorm equipped with Plasma Cannons. After the ship went down, my Hyperwave Relay revealed what I should be expecting when I arrive to the downed UFO with my ground troops. Turns out it is filled with my worst nightmares from the first game (minus the Chryssalids), so I decided to put off the assault for today. Battles in that game are time consuming enough as is. |
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. I had no idea the PSP could run a game at this scale, but I'm not complaining. The music is excellent and Dave Willis plays a right wing talk radio host. Love it.
|
Just started Bioshock Infinite. Only a little way in so far, but it's shaping up to be dripping with atmosphere and I'm looking forward to seeing where the story goes.
