Google's homepage is pretty nifty today.

Hey, a meta Star Trek trope-based fan fiction parody webcomic. I'm sure that'll be good.

Why does it occassionally flash a single frame of bright colours in to my eyeballs? I keep feeling like I'm being subliminally brainwashed.

In a statement announcing the purchase, Disney said it planned to release a new Star Wars film, episode seven, in 2015.

Hmm, I haven't caught anything like that while playing around with the site. Sure it isn't your computer just sort of refusing to run the site properly?

*shrug*

If you're not getting it, I must assume it's an HTML5 thing with Firefox on Linux.

I've seen that movie. It was just Napleon Dynamite, again. Jermaine Clement was good, though.

I wanted to upload the "... What?" scene, but it wasn't on YT. Have this instead.

No, it wasn't. Just because a director has a distinctive style doesn't mean he just made the same movie. That's like saying Moonrise Kingdom is just Royal Tenenbaums, but Edward Norton was good, though.

For the record, Gentlemen Broncos is absolutely nothing like Napoleon Dynamite. I won't try to say it's a great movie (though I enjoyed it) but it's about as far from being Napoleon Dynamite as you can get.

Do you actually believe that, considering you mentioned Jared Hess's "distinctive style"? Surely that implies common features?

:

Just because a director has a distinctive style doesn't mean he just made the same movie.
No. Of course it doesn't. Making a plot and characters that show constant and obvious parallels with the previous film does.

I mean, of course it was different, the degree of which is debatable - For the record, they are pretty damn similar; to the point that you can match every character up with one from Napoleon - but if this is Hess's style, I just hope he uses it on a less obvious setup next time.

Napoleon was better, but Broncos was fine. It was above-average.

Mr. Bungle 11-01-2012 06:03 PM

Judging by that GIF alone, I can say it looks nothing like Napoleon Dynamite.

Just my two cents.

That's from a sci-fi movie within the main story.

The film's about a kid trying to make a movie.

So that's the name of the movie where this footage comes from? I had someone asking me in the other day the name of it, but I couldn't answer since I never saw it.

Until someone comes and takes some bits and pieces of your story to use in their own story and sells it legally. Which is the point I was trying to make.

Sword of Shannara is an interesting borderline case. It manages this without being particularly interesting.
