Why do you always say 'ossim' instead of awesome? Sounds dumb.

What a fucking positive way to contribute.

@ Scraby, was that in SMP? I find that endermen are way to easy to kill on Roflcraft but it is entirely the opposite on SSP. Bows are practically redunsant on endies if you're on single due to the teleport.

Also mobs aren’t persistent (at least not yet)

Yes they are. Aren't they?

Scraby 10-01-2011 04:01 PM

lol i forgot that i was in pre release mode XD as it seems they avoid getting shot and im a fraid of em now XD

Splat 10-01-2011 04:40 PM

Drop water. Wetting yourself is a great Enderman-defence.

Scraby 10-01-2011 04:53 PM

they port now...

Crashpunk 10-02-2011 03:28 AM

Anyone know how to get the new records in 1.9? Are they in dungions like before?

Also mobs aren’t persistent (at least not yet), so having to wait around for a baby to grow up would be stupid as all fuck.

Awww, baby creepers. "sssss"

Havoc 10-02-2011 04:21 AM

I thought records only dropped when a Skelly kills a Creeper?

Dynamithix 10-02-2011 04:28 AM

I remember finding two records before 1.8 came out from a monsterspawner chest.

Yes they are. Aren't they?

Took me a while to get an answer, but yeah apparently they changed it in 1.8 to make mobs persistent.

Crashpunk 10-02-2011 04:51 AM

I really want that broken record. I think its called track 11?

Its creepy as hell.

Scraby 10-02-2011 10:50 AM

lol i heard that some guy said that on disc 11 the end of it was some kind of a scream herobr---- end of track. thats creepy

What does persistent mobs mean?

Manco 10-02-2011 03:14 PM

What does persistent mobs mean?

Means they don’t despawn/disappear when you get far away from them.

Tamed wolves are persistent, for instance.

How would that work in SMP where there's more than 1 person playing?

Wil 10-03-2011 01:23 AM

They still don't despawn.

Mudokon_Master 10-03-2011 01:49 AM

When there are players near them?

I don’t see the problem?

In single-player: passive mobs spawn when the player enters an area/loads a chunk. When the player leaves the area, the mob does not despawn, and will be loaded again the next time the player enters the area.

In SMP: passive mobs spawn when any player enters an area/loads a chunk. When all players leave the area, the mob does not despawn, and will be loaded again the next time any player enters the area.

Mudokon_Master 10-03-2011 02:13 AM

Oh I see.
That's all I wanted cleared up for me, thanks.

Crashpunk 10-03-2011 06:07 AM

I didn't know these were added

If there is still Lava or Water one block above you, little dropplets now start to drip :D

Wil 10-03-2011 06:14 AM

I've not seen the lava drips yet. Are you safe standing under them? I can't imagine a lava shower to be that healthy, but who knows how Minecraft logic works.

EDIT: Well, looks like you all get your silly wish:

Havoc 10-03-2011 09:16 AM

Ah you beat me to it.

Good if you ask me, the way it was earlier just provided a mob spawn mechanic for everyone with enough wheat.

STM 10-03-2011 09:37 AM

I wanna see baby cweeperss.

Crashpunk 10-03-2011 09:44 AM

Wow! is Notch listerning to my ideas or something?

Scraby 10-03-2011 09:49 AM

lol i at first thought that was some kind of a glitch cuz i was in an underwater tunnel XD

Dynamithix 10-03-2011 11:16 AM

Fuck. I don't want any mini-sheep crawling around my house.

enchilado 10-03-2011 01:15 PM

The pig's head is gigantic.

STM 10-03-2011 01:49 PM

I wanna see giant creeper heads on baby bodies like the piggies damn it.

The pig's head is gigantic.

It's got hydrocephalis.

Anyone know what Enderman sound like? When hurt, they make noises like zombies, but other than that I don't think they make any noises.
I saw one fan-made video before the 1.8 update that showed them making whisper-ey noises when you didn't look at them, and I think I would like that better than any noise they make now.

Mudokon_Master 10-03-2011 09:19 PM

I'm pretty sure I've heard them growling like zombies when I'm near them.

Wil 10-03-2011 11:55 PM

The zombie noises are placeholders. They'll get their own sounds, hopefully for the official 1.9 release.

Those babies look ridiculous and pointless.

enchilado 10-04-2011 12:37 AM

IMO there should be this breeding system where

like

animals just appear sometimes.

STM 10-04-2011 06:34 AM

Animal breeding will be good for proper farms so you can have crops and animals now.

Wil 10-04-2011 06:37 AM

I am enjoying animal breeding in the second pre-release. Baby animals may change that. Also, /some/ wild animal spawning would be good, perhaps as an infrequent function of how many critters there are about.

Crashpunk 10-04-2011 06:56 AM

The Silverfish are getting there own sounds as well. At the moment they sound like Spiders.

Gwan-Thwei 10-04-2011 12:15 PM

I would like to have an animal farm, only anything i capture keeps despawning. So fixing that would be nice. Maybe attaching an item that would deem it "tamed" and keep it from despawning? And then you can breed the livestock and the babies are already tamed....It would just make sense to me.

Wil 10-05-2011 12:35 AM

Your animals shouldn't be despawning. I haven't had an animal despawn since the 1.8 pre-release.

Phylum 10-05-2011 03:11 AM

Shouldn't excessive breeding cause world lag, then?

Wil 10-05-2011 05:25 AM

Like excessive anything else, yes, but there's not much reason to hang on to more than two of anything except chickens.

Gwan-Thwei 10-05-2011 11:55 AM

I dunno, a pig farm would be really helpful...
