Mojo 12-25-2004 12:31 PM

I wonder, was there any other thread (a SERIOUS thread) with 1000+ posts? But yeah, this is one of my favourite threads

Fez 12-25-2004 12:38 PM

I love it, I cant believe its lasted so long! Its been on page 1 of Off-Topic since I made it! I should get a medal!

Yeah....... Lets celebrate :D

:

Have you been naughty or nice? Maybe Santa cares about that when delivering Christmas gifts but we here at TeamXbox have a present for you regardless. You can wait until Christmas night to open your gift or keep reading for what might be the very first real info on Halo 2 Director’s Cut.

OXM was the first to report about Halo 2.5 revealing that the game is planned as an Xbox 2 launch title but now you’re going to read the very first details, straight from one of our most trusted sources:

“Halo 2.5 will be an Xbox 2 launch title and is going to run in HDTV resolution with new, improved textures and graphical effects. All the stuff that people expected from Halo 2 but didn’t make the cut will be there.”

Although our source didn’t specify which HDTV resolution the game will run at, HDTV’s lower spec is enough to get excited. Can you imagine Halo 2 running at 1280x720?!!! We also wonder what was meant by “all the stuff people expected from Halo 2 but didn’t make the cut.” With this kind of top-secret info, you don’t ask; you simply listen. We cross our fingers that this will include online co-op, more multiplayer maps, and the final conclusion to the Halo 2 story.

“The technology that powers Halo 2 has been designed from day one to take advantage of the next generation hardware,” the insider added. “In Halo 2, the Xbox was pushed to its limits but now the game will reach new heights with the advanced hardware.”

But that is not the only info our insider had for us as soon after he dropped the bomb: “Now, here is the twist. Halo 2.5 will come preloaded with the optional HDD. It’ll be one of the two reasons to get the Xbox 2 that comes with a hard drive. The other reason… well, you’ll just have to wait”

Sounds crazy to us but that’s what we have been told. Interestedly, if this is true, the rumor confirms the existence of, at least, two editions of the Xbox successor. Last month, we reported about the supposed Microsoft plan to release three versions of the Xbox successor. Although never in console history has an add-on sold enough to represent a large percentage of the install base, the inclusion of Halo 2.5 would probably sell millions of hard drives and/or other peripherals that includes this special edition.

And supposedly, there’s still one other reason…what could that be?

sligster 12-26-2004 02:45 AM

meh, I wouldn't put all your hope into that... OXM said the same thing a few years ago with Halo 1.5

but if it is true, mabe we'll get an extended ending (ya know, more levels and such at the end)

Fez 12-26-2004 12:31 PM

I dont believe any of it.

sligster 12-26-2004 03:26 PM

BTW, did anyone notice the Zanzibar egg on Christmas?

The shark sign changes with your Xbox internal clock. So far, 4 special dates have been found-

January 1st
July 7th (founding of Bungie)
October 31st
December 25th

That picture of the Forerunner Station forces me to type this... I havn't played the game... at all... but I want to... AGH! Well Kyle will soon supress that by either beating me with his Xbox OR letting me play it. SWEET RELEASE!

Marathon Lore BuIIshit

That construction design reminds me of a pimped out hybrid version of both old Marathon construction tech, and a combination of Jjaro tech. Thus comming to one conclusion... at the end of Marathon: Infinity, Durandal refers to John as Master Cheif (If I'm not mistaken). So heres what happens, John and Durandal escape to the edge of the universe in a Phfor (...Did I spell that right?) Pod during the un-making of the universe. If you survive the unmaking of the universe, in theory, you would be able to reshape the universe in your own eyes.

Since Durandal go's rampant and screws the aliens terminals shitless for data he would probibly have influence unto his opinons for perfection are with alien like looks, and John, would most obviously create the marine core again. Have you seen the Pilar of Autum?

THE MARATHON'S SYMBOLS ON THE SIDE!

Leela = Cortana

...

I have more to type... but I'm afraid of how badly I'll be flamed for saying this...

Also in my opinon the Marathon games were better than the Halo games in the aspect of Story Line...

sligster 12-26-2004 06:25 PM

THE MARATHON'S SYMBOLS ON THE SIDE!

The Marathon symbol is all over the game... you just gotta look for it... obviouse ones are in the background of the Halo logo, and 343 Gulty Spark is in the shape of the Marathon Symbol. Bungie hid tons of stuff in Halo & Halo 2.

(in Headlong, fly a banshee out to the water, then turn left. Look through the glass, and you can see New Mombassa from the E3 2K4 demo!)

We've just scratched the surface of stuff Bungie has hid.

Abe's son 12-26-2004 06:32 PM

Yeah and we've only seen the beginning of their power. The little I Love Bee's incident?

sligster 12-26-2004 06:36 PM

:

Yeah and we've only seen the beginning of their power. The little I Love Bee's incident?

yea, I wish I had followed I Love Bees better... I wanted to play Halo 2 five days before it came out!

About Halo 2.5: Bungie has said that their next game wouldn't be a Halo game, and in a recent interview, they said they wouldn't waste their time revamping an old game when they could be making a new one.

Facsimile 12-27-2004 12:51 AM

I don't think they've definitely said that their next game will or won't be Halo 3, but since it has been brought up at all, I'm assuming that it won't be.

sligster 12-27-2004 01:16 AM

the Zanzi eggs:

Soffish: in case you didn't know, the Soffish is an inside joke at Bungie. An employee bought a little Taiwanese fish thing, and the instructions translated to English was horrible...

Soffish do not eat!

Ling-Ling: an actual news story, turned into a Bungie inside joke...

Are you finding Ling Ling's head?

an egg. It's pretty cool.

Fez 12-27-2004 02:33 PM

Whats it all about? How do you get to it, what level?

Al the Vykker 12-28-2004 09:25 AM

Im pretty sure since they even stated on the official site that Halo 2's cliff hanger was done on purpose that there will be a Halo 3, and hopefully they realize they shouldnt be torturing their fans by making us wait after a whole other game. I also know how bungie is quite clever at hiding the truth or "bending" the truth. So when they said another Halo game wouldnt be there next...I have doubts that they are being perfectly honest. I mean think of how well the kept single player of Halo 2 secret, I was actually though I should have expected it with all the cutscenes of the Arbiter when I played the level with him I was totally shocked that I was playing as him.

You got me thinking there. Lets assume they're working on a game, which they claim not to be a Halo game. If they ARE working on a Halo 2 sequel, which doesn't actually take place on "a" Halo, they're technically speaking the truth, when they claim "not working on a Halo game". They could be working (at last!) on an Earth game!

Catch my grip?

Fez 12-28-2004 11:02 AM

They were working on 2 games over all those years. They will finish and release the 3rd soonish. It'll probably be short.

Halo 2 is good, but if thats all they ending up with after 3 years its crap.

Esus 12-28-2004 11:37 AM

Not really. Many games spend years and years in production. Stranger's Wrath was probably on the agenda soon after MO was released, just like with Halo, yet that isn't released yet. We also have to remember that Halo2 is a bloody brilliant game. That's why it 10/10 in reviews. Ending up with Halo 2 after 3 years - even 4 years, is very good.

Fez 12-28-2004 12:05 PM

I dont think the game is 3-4 years of work. Thats all.

Facsimile 12-29-2004 01:42 AM

I do. Now Fable is a different story...

Fez 12-29-2004 02:33 AM

I dont see why they took out the 3 way combos, it looked great in the trailer, why change it?

SeaRex 12-29-2004 09:06 AM

If the same team that did the single player game did the Xbox Live version, then I could see the game taking 3-4 years. All the little tweaks and amazing stat tracking would take a while to make, I imagine.

However, a different team did the multiplayer, so I'm going to have to agree with ferill. It doesn't feel like a game 4 years in the making because the re-built the bastard so many times.

Fez 12-31-2004 02:57 AM

Multiplayer rocks in it. Anyone notice you can practically use the Sentinal Beam as a sniper weapon as it has a huge range?

Hobo 12-31-2004 03:55 AM

Psh. Multiplayer only just has the edge over Halo 1 because of all the new vehicles and the Swords. I didn't like the new maps much and thought the majority of the new weapons were lame in multiplayer.

Alpha 02-07-2005 12:29 PM

Actually it was 2 year's and bungie's team was much smaller.

Leto 02-08-2005 12:18 AM

Now, I seem to be the super-critisism guy, but Halo 2 was pretty much rehashed shit. Sure, its fun, it has better graphics. More veichles, weapons, etc etc... But this is the same game, people. And the origional was much more, exquisite.

:

Was anyone else disappointed with the soundtrack in halo 2. Other than the new rocked up theme tune. I mean. Having crappy 'rock' bands like that crappy one that sang 'the reason'. Forgotten their name. and incubus. Bring back the amazing orchestra from halo 1. Or put it some metal.

C'mon, First movement of the oddysee was much awesomness. Just the rest of it sucked, 'cept for the song 'High Charity'. And sometimes the games music just- stopped. Voidness of musicness. Ness. But it was just strange not hearing music, which is my main beef with the game except reasons posted above, and the ending.

Halo 2.5?! PAH! What a pointless excuse to buy the extra costley hdd XboxNext. SUCH A MONEY GRAB! Lets hope it never exists and they release the last Halo 2 level as downloadable content. Bloody Gates...

(My insanely stupid rave, now complete. Be happy :p)

And whats this about Xbox live content?

Alpha 02-08-2005 12:14 PM

extra multiplayer map's is the xbox live content apparently some will soon be avaible to download.

Leto 02-08-2005 02:16 PM

Mmm. Great. More 'assumptions'. That's whats been said since the start, no?

Alpha 02-08-2005 02:19 PM

No that's what is being done.

Leto 02-08-2005 04:52 PM

How do you know for sure, eh? They 'told' you? Actually HINTED to you? Feh. All bullshit. Me non-believer, that's for sure. Me is no believer. Stopped believing since Halo 2 was 'supposed' to come out August 2003. Yeah, I know, had to remake the game. Don't care.

it wasn't "supposed" to come out August 2003. It was some bullshit rumor started by obsessive fan boys.

Remember Kids: just because you say it, doesn't make it true.

Leto 02-08-2005 05:04 PM

Oh goody. You know, when every magazine in the world says 'August 2003', I just make a small assumption that it will be coming out when it was dated to come out. You know, just a little something I pick up.

Wanna play roshambo?

sligster 02-08-2005 05:17 PM

:

I don't recall any magazine stating this info. If they did it was most likely in the rumor section, because Bungie never released any official word.

BTW!

anyone who is stuck on the first few levels of legendary, use this:

http://nikon.bungie.org/gameplay/halo2_leg_walk/

it is written by Mike "Halo Ninja" Miller. He is an absolute god at legendary. This guide has helped me immensly, and it is updated with new levels every week.

Leto 02-08-2005 11:22 PM

Yeah, sorry sligster, my local magazines (and the UK one) all stated 'August' in the release date lists.

I did the first level on legendary, played for about 3 hours and was really satisfied, then when it was loading the next level, "Your disc is dirty or damaged.". ARGH!!! Put me just a little bit off legendary, until I finished last level on co-op. Stil a bit edgy though.

$3 fiddy? YOU'RE ON! *Puts on spiked cup...*

And therefore, I resign from my presidency... :P

Alpha 02-09-2005 11:17 AM

Non beleiver there were ton's of confirmed release date's for halo2 none actually came true until bungie was forced to come up with a final release date.

Gretin 02-14-2005 07:03 PM

Okay, I assume this is the right place to post something like this:
