You know what'd be neat?

The series has always involved preserving the Mudokons' culture, but we never get to explore it. Given how brilliant Lorne Lanning's extensive world-building must be, that's a shame.

What if, hidden throughout Soulstorm, there were secret areas with something relevant to Mudokon history (like a Guardian skeleton, or a Mudanchee warrior's tomb) to discover? And, by discovering these "relics," the player would earn little pieces of lore about them, accessible from the Main Menu. Maybe even cutscenes with Bigface explaining the "relics" to some freed Mudokons as they sit around a campfire.

Exactly, as I said earlier, I feel like Exoddus left out ANYTHING that explained to a lot of things. Like they mentioned about the tribes but don't even drop any explanation to anything about it, leaving us as clueless shmucks haha Originally in one of the docs, Lanning was gonna explain how the Mudokon Moon came to be about, where one night Mudokons were looking at it or something and there was a meteor shower that hit the moon and imprinting the Mudokon Print hand on it, making the moon. Among other things, there is a lot of vagueness that needs to be cleared up, and that's why I'm hoping Big Face can have more of a role in Soulstorm and telling us what happened, being the awesome Shaman and all.

Hey all!

Not that it matters much now, since they are revealing the clean image tomorrow, but just for fun I thought I'd share my finished interpretation of the half cleaned pic with hidden clues we've found so far :p. Can't wait to see how totally off I am! :D

Wasn't one iteration going to be that the meteor shower occurred as Abe escaped RF? I understand this would change a lot of the backstory between the muds and glukkons. Was one method ever chosen as canon over the other, or were they both just suggested examples? Would be nice for Soulstorm to delve deeper into the lore and expand/clarify.

Edit- I know Abe sees the moon already formed after escaping the Free fire Zone! I meant if it's possible it formed during his escape, but he didn't necessarily witness it :)

Unlikely that it would happen during his escape. While he was going through the Stockyards and the Free Fire Zone, you can see the moon in the background in some of the zones before he got to the last part where he witnesses the moon. Plus, he did his whole oddysee in just one day as mentioned in the game. If that were to happen, hypothetically speaking, there would prolly be some chunks of meteorite still floating about visually since the collision would be still recent. Heh, maybe see some shooting stars while we're at it haha

Yes.

It's the doc I saw (one of them). Guess I was wrong there xD Oh well.

Although nothing is technically canon until it is stated within the universe. ;)

So...I was half wrong? (hmm) haha

I love UnderTheSun's idea. The mudokons themselves were always kind of a 'collectible' in a way, but that addition would be a really nice source of lore for fans and in a way that adds a nice challenge and more replayability!

E: I also love emmarose's interpretation! I do think 8291 will end up being a factory number like 1029 was for Rupture Farms.. "where" and "8291" on the same image make me think they're related, and they look like they're being hauled to some factory/labor camp

8291 is just the image number for abe.

Proof.

https://www.oddworld.com/soulstorm/ABEFACE_8291.jpg

So in otherwords, 8291 means abe

HOMINIX 01-25-2017 12:37 PM

How is that proof that 8291 means Abe? 8291 has appeared a lot of places in this ARG

Well, its more proof then not backing up my statement!
But true, no confirmation.

Im still not sure it is 8291 in the image

It may have already been posted, or maybe it doesnt matter. Has anyone noticed that the two letters that are with the numbers of the previous torn image spell "alpha numerically"?

Like I said, maybe its not a big deal but wanted to throw in my two cents.

Quoted from 'ThemanonMudos' on page 13. On a tablet now, so im limited to my editing on the forum.

"I've tried assigning each number to a letter of the alphabet and got this:

AL-9394 PH-5574 AN-7393 UM-9455 ER-2384 IC-3786 AL-7676 LY-1029
= ICID EEGD GEIC IDEE W HD CGHF GFGF J BJ

Not sure if there's an anagram to be made here or if I'm on completely the wrong track. (Note: the 'W' and 'J' are from the numbers '23' and '10')"

Since I can't wait patiently for Thursday and I wasn't around if/when the reflections in Abe's eyes were discussed, here's a little image I made. Any thoughts?

https://i.imgur.com/5IrE0zw.png

I also find it interesting that the filename of Abe's face is the only one that doesn't follow suit with the others. The chest image, chestfull.jpg, the hand handfull.jpg, Abe's face... ABEFACE_8291.jpg. It seems a little odd.

ABEFACE_8291.jpg. It seems a little odd.

From what I've seen on the thread and other places, I figure it's the unit name for one of the places Abe goes to, e.g. RuptureFarms 1029

Ran each letter through an anagram decoder and it returns the word Alphanumerically. Obviously a word, but what is its purpose?

EDIT: Perhaps we're to use the digits in the name of each photo i.e 3786 and correspond them with their alphanumeric value? i.e A=1 B=2 C=3 or something?

Quoting these since I missed this when it was first posted, and I think it got overlooked. I think we’ll need to remember this for a puzzle in the near future, as I don’t think there’s anything we can do with it now? Good catch.

So did anyone figure out if these letters mean anything?

https://pbs-0.twimg.com/media/C3DtlX5UoAAtV3E.jpg

If you take all the number and make letters you get

A-BI BCHD CGHE EEGD GCIC GFGF ICID IDEE

Looks like a code for a online serivce of some sort like PSN or Steam.

If we add in the other letter with it

A-BILY BCHDER CGHEIC EEGDPH GCICAN GFGFAL ICIDAL IDEEUM

So I appear to get a different translation to others

And if you reverse cipher

Z-YQ LY YXRW ER XSRT IC VVSW PH SXQX AN STST AL QXQW AL QWVV UM

If you take the PNG letters you can spell

" I can hear AL my i" or "my, I can hear AL UP" or something along those lines or "All Ya, I can hear nicmn"

Funny it can also spell "Alphanumeric, Yall"

Oddsville 01-25-2017 04:39 PM

Also apparently 0451, the number sequence in the image links, is a code used in several video games. Guess it started in the game Deus Ex and is in reference to the book Fahrenheit 451.

Hey Guys out of Abe's Exoddus the Story was very rich in Detail back in 1998 Exoddus really took oddworld to another like the simple quiksave which we didnt have in oddysee so yeah but Exoddus really did change the game seriously most games owe it to oddworld for inspiration like no another.

Gunnr 01-25-2017 07:46 PM

I can't wait to see what we got right and most importantly what we missed or haven't figured out yet :) and we still have 4 more to figure out!
