So uhhh...... I accidentally broke the Apartment blocks minecart station.... I have no idea how to fix it.
|
Fix'd.
Also I've built a railway from Genesis Depot stairs to the portal - It makes life easier. Climb down the ladder by the stairs to Genesis Depot. |

I don't even know where the gravel shore cave is, so I cant check it out.. Id love to though.

I built the sandstone tower. I guess it'd be more or less impossible to find the coordinates of the portal I build nether-side.
Edit: I think i'm gonna take it upon myself to build a rail heading east through the Nether, to make a location for the new settlement. I'll stick a portal on the end but not activate it yet. Then we'll have new chunks for 1.8 (We'll all gather round for the mass migration and find the portal arrives over a vast ocean... of lava... a mile underground). |
Well, I did start building one through the previous nether, but I guess that's gone now. I didn't get far though.
Make sure you put the first terminal right next to the portal to make it easy for people. Oh, and line the tunnel with cobblestone or better to prevent accidents involving ghasts. If you need help with railway mechanics, just say. EDIT: Is it me or does the new server not bother drawing stuff in the distance? The view distance appears to now be about the same length as Rupture Farms - When you stand on one end of it, you can't see the other end. Guess I'm going to have to ask for a copy of the server map whenever I want to film something. |
Obvious question, you haven't altered the draw distance at your end, have you?
|
No of course not, or else the fog would be closer. Stuff simply disappears abruptly when it's far away rather than fade into fog.
|
I noticed the same.... Dunno.. the new server just seems to be of lower quality.
More lag, more world holes, less distance view.... I thought Id give it some time. But it's as if the world holes have gone WORSE. Like... I went past 4 world holes all relatively close to each other. One was even tetris shaped! |
It is better than not at all though and it is still playable.
|
I could play around with the servers view distance too see if that makes a difference. But it does influence performance which is why i kept it relatively low for now. Ill be back home on wednesday. Ill play with it then.
|
Oh okay, so long as there is a reason for it and it's not a bug. Obviously I think we'd all rather it was playable than be able to see things from very far away.
|
With the invaluable assistance of Darkhoodness and dripik, I (and by 'I' I mean 'we') have made a rail track stretching far west and north into the Nether, leading from Genesis Depot to the aptly named Exoddus Settlement.
At the moment the portal at the far end is closed off, and should remain so until 1.8 is released (at which point it may of course have to be moved, but let's hope not). The point is, when we're ready to migrate, we have somewhere to go, and 'somewhere' has an appropriate name. Now we're all dying to know what's on the other side of the portal :p |
Why must 1.8 take so long >: (
|
So Notch has time to introduce as many bugs as possible.
|
1.8 will introduce...
The ability to fly, Endermen, NPC villages, ravines, mushroom forests, strongholds, changes to biomes, changes to leaves, changes to clouds, major overhaul of combat, critical hits, possibly shields or the ability to block attacks, powered-up bows, animations for mobs, farmable pumpkins, melons, possibly farmable cocoa beans, farmable animals, complete overhaul of food, hunger and healing including stackable food, meat from chicken and cows, new achievements, sprinting, glass panes, spikes, possibly the ability to retrieve your arrows from mobs you shoot, major overhaul of how light works, changes to the light emitted by the sun, moon and torches, new texture for moss stone, changes to controls and panels, new sounds for basically everything, and the ability for all players to see who else is online in SMP. That's why 1.8 is taking a flipping long time! |
I believe that 1.8 will be the final update, Notch's way of saying It's done, dammit :D
|
Can you build or swim underwater? Or use boats?
|
MeechCrunchines: You're wrong. :)
Bullet Magnet: yes, all of that. The boats are very small though, not customisable ships or anything. |
Well, what else could he possibly fit in there besides some random visual changes for the last 2 updates that would bring it up to 2.0?
Dig deep enough underwater and you'll find Cthulhu ? xD it would make sense for it to be the last one :) |
Hahahaha
You think patches work via a system of tenths. |
These aren't really patches though, more like the buildup to release, so it would make sense that they'd go order in 1.1, 1.2, etc.
|
No, they're definitely patches.
Vanilla WoW went up to patch 1.12 before TBC was released. TBC and WOTLK never got past 2.4 and 3.3 respectively. Patching does not follow a pattern. |
What the fuck is an Endermen?
|
Boats are extremely fragile; if you crash into anything they break, and they don't drop enough material to build a new boat. The little bit of lag you get in Multiplayer makes them really, really unwieldy, so they're only really any use in single player.
Notch has announced the official release date for Minecraft to be this November, but it doesn't mean the game will stop updating after that. There's so much planned and promised that I doubt they'll be finished by then. Endermen (sg. Enderman) are a new aggressive mob that completely ignore you, as long as you don't look at them. |
Also, Notch has stated that Minecraft will continue to be updated after the full version is released.
EDIT: GODDAMN I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE POST WHILE I'M TYPING |
:
|
Now, imagine if you had a survival horror server that was night for like 18 minutes and day for 2. Imagine the stress created from constantly having Endermen breathing down your neck, always there, always watching, and you can never turn around unless you want to be mauled.. :fuzvamp:

Reminds me of that week I spent in a coal cellar.
