Downloading now. Hopefully this'll restore my eagerness in MineCraft, or at least keep me interested 'til 1.8

The description is promising and I hope it works out goodly :3

Edit:

SWEET JEBUS THIS IS COOL!

Also, I spotted a unicorn :D

Phylum 08-19-2011 08:53 PM

Make sure you install the optional mod that makes night-times still happen when you sleep. It's awesome.

Crashpunk 08-20-2011 02:44 AM

I love most of the stuff in the YogBox others not so much.

I don't have it all installed yet but is there a feature to turn mods off? I don't like the village mod one bit.

Phylum 08-20-2011 03:02 AM

You can choose what you install. The villages mod is quite good, actually. Better than it sounds. Trading with villages is expensive, though.

I recommend not installing the seasons mod, because winter is so boring.

STM 08-20-2011 03:41 AM

What do the seasons do that make Winter so bad?

Phylum 08-20-2011 04:00 AM

It snows and is dark all of the time. It makes navigating a bit of a pain and creates lots of lag.

STM 08-20-2011 04:18 AM

Ah, I looked at the mod put it doesn't seem very interesting really, just seems annoying.

Phylum 08-20-2011 04:30 AM

It sounds like it, but try it. Mo' Ceatures much needed adds variety to the mobs. Fighting lions is fucking cool. Also, tameable mobs are a neat feature. The RPG mod gives you a reason to go out and do stuff even once you're comfortable in your base of operations. The new ores mean that there are just ores fucking everywhere. It's absurd, really, but it's a bit of fun collecting them all and making full sets of each type of tool.

The best thing is that you can pick and choose which mods you install, though.

The score mod is great, too. You get points for killing mobs, so all of a sudden there's more reason to go caving.

STM 08-20-2011 05:48 AM

We have the RPG mod on the SMP server I play on and I agree, it's pretty good.

E'l Scrabino 08-20-2011 06:18 AM

ROCKET PROPELLED GAMING!

Just had to put that in there.

So, yeah. This mod is forking epic. You're right about winter, though. God-damn annoying. The moat around the villages' town hall is pretty useless when it's frozen over and you can walk on it :P

Really enjoying the stat bonuses, too. 2 hitting all basic mobs (I.E: Zombies and skeletons) with iron swords. The air ship is incredibly cool as well. No need to run everywhere or make minecarts when you just fly over everything :D

Edit: Nearly forgot to mention the elemental creepers! I found one that explodes in such a way that the ground they explode on gets covered in snow. There's also a weird one that has a dirt texture and a grass hat thing that places dirt blocks in its explosive radius upon... well, exploding.

Phylum 08-20-2011 03:17 PM

Reinstall it without the seasons. It's better.

Also, did you install Israphel?

Crashpunk 08-20-2011 03:23 PM

I have, I haven't seen him yet however.

I have it all installed (apart from the Village Mod) and i'm really loving it. I love the new Mobs and Ores. I thank The Yogscast for making this.

E'l Scrabino 08-20-2011 03:39 PM

I'll take your advice, Phylum. Autumn wasn't that great anyway.

When I installed the YogBox the first time around, I installed all of the mods so I guess I have Israphel, though I don't know what he is.

dripik 08-23-2011 12:30 AM

You might want to cushion the surroundings of your chair before Israphel appears in a dark cave in front of you.

Tried the YogBox. I like it a lot, although I get a weird lag that happens periodically. Like a complete 1-second freezing every five seconds or so. But still, I'm enjoying the world I created with the mods, I'm doing my best helping a small ecclesiastic village to grow. I managed to get a fairly good reputation with them by trading, so I bought the second level plot in their village, which they will probably set up for me once they are done upgrading the abbey.

Mo' Creatures is also a nice addition, it adds a lot more variety to the game. The rats are quite a nuissance though, and someone better explain it to me why they drop coal when killed.

Jordan 08-23-2011 03:43 AM

I started playing Minecraft. It's freaking awesome.

Crashpunk 08-23-2011 03:49 AM

Wheey! 'Bout time! Come to the server. Its fun

Gwan-Thwei 08-23-2011 12:40 PM

Has anyone heard of the new mob? Enderman?

enchilado 08-23-2011 02:25 PM

Yes.

Wil 08-24-2011 12:14 AM

Farlanders!

STM 08-24-2011 01:11 AM

Nope, Endermen, he was even gonna change farlands to endlands to make that proper.

E'l Scrabino 08-24-2011 01:24 AM

Enderfarmans :D

Have any of you tried the bio sphere mod thing? It changes the land generator to generate spheres of a spherical nature (except some of them aren't really spheres) that are connected to each other via wooden bridge. I tried it out and it seemed quite interesting, except it doesn't work with some parts of YogBox (I'm trying to find out which parts) so I didn't remain in that world long.

It can be found at the bottom of the first post heresies (not to be confused with heresy).

(parenthesis)

STM 08-24-2011 02:25 AM

When I played that they weren't connected O_O. You had to make the bridges yourself. Lava cored planetoids were the bitch.

Wil 08-24-2011 02:29 AM

Planetoids ≠ biospheres

Gwan-Thwei 08-24-2011 06:45 AM

I had a nightmare about this mod for minecraft called something like the "extremely dangerous set" or something. This one mod was baisically a big desert, with the sky covered in bedrock save for a few lit areas, called "oasis". I was trapped in a big dark space with realistic creepers and zombies closing in around me, and I had to fight them all off with my bow and arrow. It was a fun but scary dream. Creepers are Fugly.

I've been really jumpy every time I've played since I read that. I really want to see him now, because not knowing if he's behind me is terrifying.

STM 08-25-2011 06:25 AM

He's like 200 pixels, I think you'll be okay mack. ;)

Pixels mean nothing - he'll be terrifying! Or at least, that's what I'd expect after seeing the Shadow of Israphel series - I haven't tried the mod itself.
