Huh?

SPOILER, don't ask, just do it.

Trust me.

Phylum 03-09-2013 05:38 PM

Discovering that thing about footprints and noisy floors for yourself is really fun.

As to the saves:

Psycho Mantis reads save files off of your memory card in an attempt to spook you out. Castlevania is one of the games he'll comment on.

It's not really worth spoilering, but it can be pretty neat if you aren't expecting it.

MeechMunchie 03-09-2013 05:53 PM

I really wish there were more games that messed with the fourth wall like that. I can't think of many.

There's ImScared, Black & White used to call your name in the middle of the night, plus some mediocre visual novel that could tell if you'd played another (better) VN.

Phylum 03-09-2013 06:30 PM

ImScared was fantastic for outside of game immersion. I still open up that picture of White Face every now and again just to relive that feeling. I've run the .exe a few times lately just in case something happens after the noose.

MeechMunchie 03-10-2013 04:22 AM

Before ImScared there was Asteroids-style freeware shooter I played, which was supposedly generated by a sentient compuer virus. At one point it crashed to desktop, until the screen froze a few seconds later and started filling with text. I think it was the viral ultimatum, because enemy blobs started pouring out of the sides of the screen a few seconds after that.

Is the Wii U any good? Thinking of saving up for one but there aren't really any games that have caught my attention (aside from Rayman, but that's gonna be on other consoles now).

And I got the new Mass Effect 3 DLC. It's a huge fucking fanservice, but it has some hilarious moments. A* aside from the horrible, horrible plot twist in the main questline.

I played the Wii U demo of Rayman Legends today, it looks really good actually... like you're playing a character in a cartoon. The controls are good and the visuals are extremely good at filling in player with what they're meant to be doing at any given time. I'll start a Wii U debate here: http://www.oddworldforums.net/showthread.php?t=21257, as there's too much to say without derailing the topic.

Never really bothered with much of the DLC, this one does sound tempting however. Might give it a go later on in the year when a games shortage occurs.

I've heard Nintendo Land is a load of fun with friends but apart from that, nothing has caught my attention with the Wii U. It does look like a great consoles but it lacks games.

I'll probably buy one when the new Smash Bros, Mario Kart and Game & Wario comes out.

I've just got Black Ops 2 at the moment (which I really really love). If I had to buy another game it would probably be Batman or Warriors Orochi, but really I'm waiting for AC4/Watch Dogs.

Jbot123 03-12-2013 03:53 PM

I am currently playing Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One, Fallout 3, Quantum Conundrum, and Castle Crashers at the exact same time. It is as nerve-racking as hell. When I feel like relaxing, I throw Viva Pinata and The Simpsons Tapped Out into the mix.

Darkstalkers 3 boi!!! Preparing for the release on PSN.

Strike Witch 03-13-2013 12:01 AM

Heart of The Swarm.

It's a load of shit.

Jacob 03-14-2013 03:57 PM

Currently playing 'Darksiders 2'. A game that disappointed me massively on it's original run, but i'm mopping up any achievements I need before trading it in.

Just did 'Gears of War 3' for the offline achievements, that TOO will be traded in.

I've been thinking of getting 'Assassins Creed 3', BUT I'd prefer to get it when all it's DLC is out. Anybody got any good games to recommend?

Ideally anything with a good story.

Out of all the games I've played recently, the ones I've enjoyed the most: Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas, Saints Row 3, Dead Island, Deus Ex Human Revolution

I recommend playing though a Zelda game - if you haven't already of course. I'm still playing though Wind Waker and I'm loving it.

Jacob 03-15-2013 02:32 PM

I only have a 360 at le momento!

Was going to give Fall Out: New Vegas a MISS 'cos i'm OCD when it comes to achievements and I know the 'hardcore' achievement would kick me in the gooch.

I also didn't find Deus Ex all that sexy.

dripik 03-15-2013 04:02 PM

Playing Fallout NV on Hardcore isn't too much hardcore at all. Fast travelling is still permitted, you need to eat/drink/sleep occasionally, healing isn't instantaneous but happens over time, ammo actually has weight, sleeping does not mean full health anymore (it doesn't fix broken limbs). That's all that comes to mind right now. After trying Hardcore, I don't really want to go back to standard anymore. Achievements or not, go for it.

I've cut down my gaming time due to loads of work these days, but I occasionally find time to go through Dead Space one more time.

What gets me is the weighted Ammo. I'm used to carrying around so much in the normal mode, but in Hardcore, your forced to leave some behind.

Phylum 03-16-2013 02:04 AM

The only difference to SC is the need to plan journeys out in advance, and probably retreat back home to restock more often. It's slower and more strategic. You feel mistakes more, which really only works if you don't go back and reload saves.

I really need to finish downloading it/playing FO3 so that I can try HC again. I have a partial save on my PS3 which has been sitting dormant for months.

It does require you to do some management with your ammo, but I'm cool with that. I guess it kinda makes sense that you can't just pocket 200 Microfusion cells, 35 rockets and 10 Mini Nukes along with the rest of your equipment, and then run around the Mojave.

MeechMunchie 03-16-2013 04:55 AM

I was playing Rayman 3, for which I'd created an entertaining hack to get can powers at any time. I was about halfway through The Longest Shortcut when the game froze, so I killed the .exe.

Came back the next day and all save games were gone, along with all my screenshots, which is pretty fucking weird. Corrupted saves is one thing, deleting themselves is another.

Varrok 03-16-2013 05:24 AM

That's what hackers get for cheating.

MeechMunchie 03-16-2013 05:29 AM

1) The hack caused no stability issues anywhere else, and I have no reason to believe it was that this time, and 2) If you'd seen the number of times I've completed this game legitimately, you'd agree I'd earned the right to muck around.

Mr. Bungle 03-16-2013 05:46 AM

GTA San Andreas. Forgot how fantastic this game was. Definitely my favourite GTA (out of the ones I've played).

Well, it is a bit weird if you remove the karma factor. You're sure that you killed the process, and not just force-quit the game?

Jacob 03-18-2013 06:04 AM

Has anybody played 'X-Com' on it's hardest difficulty? That's another game my OCD will probably hate me for, since it looks like getting the chevo's on it will rape me with hate.

I like games that have collectibles, but don't force you to traipse around a map or go online to find them. I loathed the Pigeon chevo in GTA4!

Like, I like the idea of getting to a certain bit and having everything show up on your map. Far Cry 3 did that, as did Sleeping Dogs.

Manco 03-18-2013 09:27 AM

I finished Assassin's Creed 3 and I'm annoyed at how unsatisfying the ending was.

Playing GTA San Andreas. Just made it to San Fierro for the first time. David Cross does the voice of one of the characters. Fucking awesome.

Dynamithix 03-18-2013 01:47 PM

I have been playing a lot of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed lately and I'm sort of stuck in the last levels of the World Tour mode, I need 165 stars to advance to the last levels and getting those stars is really hard. I have max leveled a few of the characters and currently I'm playing as Gum (Jet Set Radio) and Joe Musashi (Shinobi). Really, really fun game, I recommend it.

I also finished my hard playthrough of Max Payne 3 some time ago and now I'm playing the first Max Payne on Steam, I'm now on act 3, pretty good so far.

Anyways, I also picked up some PSN funds for the Vita and I already downloaded Sound Shapes, it seems like a neat little platformer. I still have around 10 euros left, any recommendations? I was thinking about getting Jet Set Radio HD even though I already have it on the Xbox. I also browsed through the PS1 section and noticed Alundra, that looks like it could be fun. Ugh, I need a 16gb memory card for the Vita to hold all the games, but they're so expensive. :(

Crashpunk 03-21-2013 05:12 AM

Really far into Zelda: Wind Waker now. Just beat the Earth and Wind Temple.

In both of the temples, you have a sage with you. You can control them using the Wind Waker and each one has a different ability. Earth Temple is so far my favourite level in this game, It consists of Link and your Sage companion reflecting light in order to solve puzzles. You have to work together to complete the temple so it feels like to could really work in co-op. It also brings back memories of the Spirit Temple in Ocarina.

The Wind Temple on the other hand wasn't amazing, I hate the sage on this dungeon, You had to go back and control him all the time and he moves really slowly. Also there's this one tall room where if you fall, you have to slowly make your way back up again using the hookshot. Not fun. Also the Boss was a joke, It took me about 2 minutes and I only got hit a few times.

Vyrien 03-21-2013 05:44 AM

Wind Waker is an absolutely fantastic game but dear god is the travelling overseas draining.

Wings of Fire 03-21-2013 05:50 AM

I thought the Earth Temple was bullshit and the Wind Temple was okay.

Nowhere near as good as the first three.

Mr. Bungle 03-21-2013 06:24 AM

Yeah same here. A lot of the appeal of that game came from the side stuff and generally exploring the ocean, so much stuff to be found all over the place. And all the boss battles were fantastic and everything I'd want from a Zelda boss fight.

Though there should have been a water temple. It was such a rip-off, just talking to the whale to get the gem. Where's the fun.
