Its very hard though, and I'm playing through on easy!

MeechMunchie 05-25-2012 02:55 PM

I finished Gemini Rue. Nice story, nice art, nice gameplay, nice ideas. Not revolutionary, just reeaaally nice to play. Definitely going to turn the commentary on next time.

It's also got the cast of Cowboy Bebop as Easter Egg characters.

Mr. Bungle 05-25-2012 03:05 PM

What kind of game is it? I like Cowboy Beebop. Cool show.

MeechMunchie 05-25-2012 03:28 PM

Point 'n' Click adventure. It's about mobsters, drug rings, existentialism and conspiracy in SPACE. It's quite twisty near the end, though you might see it coming.

Mr. Bungle 05-25-2012 03:40 PM

I've never played a point 'n' click game in my life. Well, unless you count games like Freddy Fish or Putt-Putt. Those were the shit.

Whoa. This one looks intimidating.

JennyGenesis 05-25-2012 05:58 PM

DiRT Showdown came out in the UK today. It is fantastic. The single player career is rather difficult and very shallow. Previous DiRT games really made you feel nurtered and part of the world. But this time, no, just a load of events with no chance to imerse into the world.

The multiplayer is amazing, especially with a friend, I'd go as far to say that it is the best multiplayer game I have ever played. I've never said that about any game before.

jumper 05-25-2012 10:41 PM

That comes as no shock.

Whoa. This one looks intimidating.

It's really not. It's got far less convoluted puzzles than the average PnC, it's more based on practical investigative skills like interrogation, shooting shit and Googling things. Seriously, about a third of the puzzles are solved by looking them up on the planetary database. It is a bit of a pixel hunt at times though. The story's still pretty good.

Crashpunk 05-28-2012 05:21 AM

I found Shinobi for the PS2 the other day, got it for £2 :D It's a really fun Hack N' Slasher and holy fuck it's hard, I started to struggle on the second boss.

Last PnC game I played was Machinarium, and I really liked it. Is this anything like that? Or easier, harder? I gotta try this when I've finished my classes.

Wait till you find the last boss, you're gonna shit your pants of how hard it is.

Basically, no. PnC is a genre, not a style. This is as different to Machinarium as Botanicula is different to Day of the Tentacle.

You've got the same "Use [object] on [object]" formula, but GR is wordy, dramatic and practical where Machinarium is silent, comical and convoluted. It can also be a bit of a pixel hunt at times, and the native game window is tiny. Seriously, it's barely bigger than the trailer you just watched.

Yes, I got that, I expressed myself wrongly. I was talking about immersion and difficulty. But I get what you're saying.

MeechMunchie 05-28-2012 02:49 PM

I'd say it's harder, yes.

At the momont I am playing Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition. It's a whole big dusty pile of fun and pretty much every grievance I had with Fallout 3 (some I didn't know I had until NV fixed them) is corrected. The expansion packs come preloaded on the disc so console owners can buy this used and not worry about activation codes or anything, no assembly required.
I played the BIIIIIG MOUNTAIN!/Old World Blues DLC package first, which got me levelled up to a respectable LV 18 by the end of it. The DLC also raises the level cap from 20 to 50, and there's just a boatload of extra perks and other badges of desert office you can tack on yourself.

It's legitimately a good game. If you like WRPG's then get it. Do it.

GLaDOS 05-29-2012 12:10 PM

Currently playing Resident Evil Survivor. Its a nice concept but the story lines a bit off. It's a fun game but it's save system is a bit dodgy. (Aka not working). Also trying to get past the Helicopter part in Half Life 2, where you have to take the Heli down.

Mudokon_Master 05-29-2012 05:29 PM

I picked up a game at the stores the other day called Gothic Luckily for me I got it on sale for $20 and it includes Gothic 1, 2 and 3 with some addons and expansions. It's a good game so far. Can't wait to finish them all and buy Gothic 4. The graphics look amazing.
I can't believe I've never heard of the titles before since I honestly prefer them to The Elder Scrolls series.

Its pribably not broken, you're just probably doing it wrong. And if you're at that part in HL2 that I think you are, you don't even need to take the helicopter down, you just need to get away from it.

Crashpunk 05-30-2012 01:35 AM

No, there is actually a point at the end of Water Hazard where you have to fight the Helicopter. If that's the point of the game your thinking of, just keep firing at it and avoid the bombs.

Nepsotic 05-30-2012 01:47 AM

Oh right, I thought he meant before the sewers.

I'm nearly at the end of Water Hazard, how many parts are there in total?

MeechMunchie 05-30-2012 02:25 AM

I dunno. It ends after the second helicopter, then you go over a dam. I reloaded to do that twice.

Mr. Bungle 05-30-2012 03:27 AM

Been playing Super Meat Boy through again. Currently on Hell, haven't started yet. I find I'm a lot worse at this game when I'm sober.

MeechMunchie 05-30-2012 03:28 AM

You're probably not, it's just that you're capable of remembering more of your failed attempts.

Wings of Fire 05-30-2012 04:04 AM

Fun fact:

If you completed the game once while drunk then you'll remember more of it subsequently if drunk.

Mr. Bungle 05-30-2012 04:07 AM

For the record, I'm not talking about alcohol. I'm shit at video games when I'm drunk. I'm talking about pot. I destroy Meat Boy when I'm baked.

I remember trying to play Spyro once when I was drunk, ended up falling off the level.

Wings of Fire 05-30-2012 04:11 AM

Fun fact:

The same applies if high, underwater, depressed or on the moon*.

This one is exceedingly hard to replicate, therefore not technically scientifically viable. Also I may be making it up. Maybe.

That's not all that helpful when the game is randomly generated every time you play.

Wait, Super Meat Boy is? Really?

Also this includes procedual knowledge like learning how to play the game itself.

SMB isn't.

Nate 05-30-2012 06:10 AM

Wait, fuck. I thought we were talking about Binding of Isaac.

Sorry

I get my highest scores on Pac Man CE DX when I'm high.
