If your friends don't accept your musical choices, that's fucked up...

I think I made them sound worse than they are.

We're all classically trained musicians and we all have really specific, conflicting tastes in music that we're all needlessly verbal about.

scrabface 10-17-2012 04:12 PM

hipster shit, but of the good sort - ah the girl in the bus is so beautiful

i see, so it's like a little competetion between you all, huh?

Anyway,

scrabface 10-19-2012 07:54 AM

I made this with FL. lot of cheating, but fun to play with.

Dynamithix 10-19-2012 12:44 PM

I want to hump this song.

MeechMunchie 10-20-2012 12:51 PM

Yo, I'm looking for some smooth jazz, proper rain-and-fireplace piano-ey stuff. Hit me with your best stuff, you Phylum/Oddjob cool cat types.

The first music that came to mind, was this. Although I know some Jazz artists besides the more known, this seemed a perfect example.

There are two compositions in this video.

EDIT:
There's always Bill Evans.

Mr. Bungle 10-21-2012 03:02 PM

One of my favourite bands covering one of my favourite bands.

Steamer_KING 10-21-2012 04:26 PM

scrabface 10-21-2012 04:53 PM

this board definitely lacks some ambient

what about the forests? - no

Daxter King 10-21-2012 11:27 PM

Posting these cause I saw them all at a concert Saturday night, all three were pretty fucking amazing.

I's this what you need? Dave Brubek is the first Cool Jazz artist I always think of.

Naturally, Miles Davis has a Cool Jazz album.

This may even be too smooth.

I'm sure there's lots of better Cool Jazz floating around, but it's really not my area of expertise.

Tenacious D is and always has been shit.

This comment now follows in their wake.

MeechMunchie 10-22-2012 04:06 AM

The Chet Baker one was good, thanks.

OddjobAbe 10-22-2012 09:02 AM

Probably the second one is the best.

Mr. Bungle 10-23-2012 08:05 AM

Man, this one stirs up from feels.

So pretty.

OANST 10-23-2012 08:33 AM

That sounds a lot like Sparta if Sparta was a better band.

Mr. Bungle 10-23-2012 08:53 AM

Yeah, American Football is pretty magical. I've never listened to Sparta though. Aren't they the other band that formed from the ashes of At the Drive-in or something?

Yes. Yes, they are.

Mr. Bungle 10-23-2012 11:35 AM

I imagine they can't be that bad if they formed one of the best rock bands around at the time.

OANST 10-23-2012 01:20 PM

They aren't horrible. But they aren't particularly great, either.

/QUOTE]

Not bad, but yeah, nothing special. The drums were probably the best part, and the guitar was pretty nice. Vocals were boring though.

Dynamithix 10-23-2012 10:34 PM

I like this, there was some sort of a remix of the song in SSX but this version is better.

We're covering this in my funk/soul band.

Mr. Bungle 10-25-2012 05:16 PM

Love Ratatat.

That was actually good and it really seemed something made in the funk era.

On-topic:

Two completely different moods, I know.

Fuck yeah, Kraftwerk rules. I don't know much of their stuff, but this album is pretty amazing.

Phylum 10-30-2012 04:59 AM

We're playing this lots at school lately. A friend taught it to me, I taught it to someone and it's just gotten around. Now rather than playing Chameleon when we have a group of people with instruments and nothing to do we're playing this. I love it.

Mr. Bungle 10-30-2012 06:30 AM

Chameleon is so much fun though. I could play that song on bass forever.

Takeshi 10-30-2012 07:12 AM

A classic right there.

Dynamithix 10-30-2012 10:45 AM

Now that I listened to some more of this guy he's actually kinda similar to Kid Cudi. That's good.

Havoc 10-30-2012 10:48 AM

Thanks to this I found this. Two amazing artists :).

Mr. Bungle 10-30-2012 10:53 AM

Love cranking the speakers full of bass and letting this one just absorb me:

MeechMunchie 10-30-2012 11:54 AM

Remember Pericles?
He democratised a city with his mind
"A little wisdom never hurt anyone..."
Tell that to Socrates!
Telling the citizens what they needed to hear
But still they fed him hemlock!

Now, the Greeks don't speak my language
I don't see the relevance
I am irreverent; I have no reverence
So show me no deference
I'll do the same for you
