Having started working fulltime and moved to a property with no internet, I'm sad to say I have no time for, or access to, the server. :(
I want to play - and I've tried to a few times - but my laptop just can't handle it. Hopefully I'll be getting a new one at some point, but I have no idea when.
Splat's gone on holiday but I see him on sometimes, I occasionally see stuff being built by E'l Scrabino although I never see him, Dripik sometimes makes an appearance, and I used to see Phylum around a few times, but not lately.
I spend an hour or two a day (sometimes more) building/gathering resources for Rupture Farms, but I haven't seen anyone online at the same time as me in the past week. If you do take the server down through lack of active players, can I at least have a copy of the map so that I can work on RF on single player and release it later as its own map? |
I visited briefly earlier today, immediately headed for the Nether. To be honest I think most inactivity can probably be chalked up to it being summer, and the 1.8 update we’re all waiting for.
I'm bogged down with schoolwork right now. DH saw me on a week or 2 ago when I was at home with an ear infection.

I's always empty when I go on and if you guys are on its useually either really early or at late at night. Maybe it's because I'm in Canada.
I log in occasionally, but only to check if anyone's on. Also, I may have lost interest for a brief period, which might be remedied with 1.8 coming out in the nearish future.
Not that I wouldn't have anything to do on the server. Survival Mountain is still waiting for being turned into a fort. I started the outer walls at the front some time ago, but haven't been working on it since. |
I'm back from holiday now, and will be logging in occasionally.
It'd be far more lively if you let me and my awesomeness back in. ;) An ideal time too since the server I'm on is starting to go into decline. =/

I have an apology to make but I don't know who to.
Near Genesis Base someone has built a complicated trap using an iron door, a long drop and a cursed pick. I fell into it just now and was very impressed - so impressed that I went for a second go and by being very quick, I got through the iron door before the *cough cough ahem* happened, and got into the room containing the circuitry of the trap. Unfortunately, there was someone else already in the room, and they were green and scaly with four legs and no arms and they were not at all happy to sssssssee me. Despite some frantic bow-work on my part, there is now a smoking crater where the circuitry was, and I am sorry to say I'm at a loss as to how to fix it (I don't get on with repeaters). I've put what the explosion dropped in a chest in the room. Sorry, whoever you are. I hope it's repairable; please light it up properly next time 'cus I feel really guilty right now (plus the creeper hurt). In other news, the tentative release-date for 1.8 is in 3 day's time (the 8th of September). Assuming this doesn't move, can I suggest that those of us who can, pick a time to gather for the grand opening of the Exoddus Portal? I don't think we can plan out the town 'til we see what terrain spawns, but it'd be nice for people to be there when it opens. Either way, I'm taking bets on where the portal opens. We have...
I would like to be there! I'm sure my boss won't mind me playing Minecraft at work if it's after my required hours.
I’d like to be there for the opening, preferably around the evening GMT time.
I'll try to be there.
And thanks for letting me know you wrecked my trap, Splat :P |
Evening GMT would probably be best for me, too.
And it wasn't me! The creeper did it! |
Sounds good to me.
I was thinking of something similar myself. Count me in. If it happens this week, then any time of the day would be manageable for me.
We could even arrange this as a recorded semi-adventure with voice-chat. DH is our regular cameraman, and we haven't heard from him concerning the matter yet, but others with the appropriate setup for recording are free to volunteer, I guess. |
I think I might re-appear to see what this portal is about and hopefully settle somewhere nice and sandy.
I'd suggest one person goes through the portal ahead of everyone else, just in case it is dangerous. You wouldn't want people shoving for room on a precarious platform high in the sky or over lava.
Also, if everyone brings a 'survival kit', say 4 or more stacks of cobble, a stack of dirt or gravel, a stack of torches, a supply of food to their own satisfaction (contending with the new hunger mechanic as best able) and a bed. I'd be cautious about moving our supplies around and doing a lot of building too soon after 1.8, in case any new bugs undo our work, but if we can make some sort of outpost out there, we can get a site for Exoddus Settlement sorted, and build the town out from there. Maybe stick a wall up as and when we see fit. Major buildings of Exoddus Settlement could be immigration (portal building) and later on the planned town hall (community chests, dormitories, notice board, etc.) when we have more of a plan and know the game version is stable. |
Oooh, I'd certainly like be there. I'll try to get my brother to lend me his computer, which should run Minecraft much faster.

I have school that day, so count me out.
Are there any more supplies the Exoddus Portal Room could do with before we exoddus?
i wanna come D=

Nostalgia. This is how Genesis looked like on the first day.
http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1315310591 Max returning to Genesis after a quest for clay. http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1315310581 |
What's that coming out of my crotch?
That IS your crotch.
That, or a weirdly glitched pair of leather trousers.
Also, I expect it'll take some time for us to agree on the time for our exodus to Exodus Settlement after 1.8 is released. If that happens, could we all agree not to go exploring the new stuff on the server? |
Sure, I’m down for that. I logged in last night just to add some supplies, I probably won’t be logging in again until the Exoddus.
So do we have a general idea or layout for the new settlement yet? I'd prefer to actually build a joint effort instead of everyone running off to their own projects again.
I think it’d be best to wait until we see what the New World looks like before we decide what to build.
Yeah, if we have to contend with mountains any plans made for a flat area will be useless. We'll build a communal building or two when we get there and plan from there. Once we see what we've got, we can plan on the forums what to do with it.
Also, I'm desperately curious to know who did this: http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...1&d=1315358390 (And how on Earth they managed it - that castle is, I think, every bit as isolated-on-a-tiny-island-in-the-middle-of-a-lava-sea-without-overhangs-or-bridges as it looks.) |
Israphel did it.
The bridge might have been removed after completion. The castle is a bit like what DH would build, reminds me of his style... Or maybe someone wanted us to believe exactly that...
I'm so glad i didn't miss everyone moving to Exoddus, i can't wait to join you all and Beta 1.8 is going to be good.
I know one thing, Endermen are going to freak me the fuck out. The second I see one I will kill it every time.
Hmm, if they don't start attacking until you look away, could you shoot one to death without it doing anything?
Release date as far as I know is tomorrow. So say 8PM GMT+1 tomorrow (Britain is currently on GMT+1 'cus of British Summer Time)? Or would earlier than that be better? (It'd have to be before 6 for me.) Get your kit ready! All those attending the grand opening of Exoddus Settlement, please bring...
Since biomes are getting such a big change, we may get an environment we really don't expect, so be prepared! Unless the Portal comes out somewhere ludicrous (such as the middle of an ocean or, so help us, somewhere already generated) we will settle where we land, as if spawning for the first time. The portal heads north-west through the Nether, so more new chunks will lie to the north west (assuming the sun sets east-to-west and maps are aligned to the east, Mr Gravel Shore). Exploration of new chunks should wait until after Exoddus Settlement is a secure and safe place for us all to live. Town planning and assignation of land for personal building at Exoddus Settlement will begin after construction of portal shelter and dormitories. Finally, expect bugs. Don't flash about anything too rare, just in case something untoward occurs due to bugs. *Five iron ingots in a 'U' shape. **A compass*** surrounded by eight paper****. Remember, maps centre on the crafting table where they're made, so don't make one in advance. *** 1 redstone surrounded by 4 iron ingots. **** Three reeds in a row. |
Before 6 I'm likely to still be working. 8 lets me get home, eat, and return to work (yes, I'm sad).
That sounds fine to me.
I've just remembered that DH is away hiking. According to his blog, he'll be back around Friday or so. I'm just saying because we probably don't want to leave him out of our exodus, mainly because of his contributions to the server world, and the possibility of him recording our journey.
For me, pretty much any evening of the week would be OK. Sunday especially. EDIT: Oh, and in case someone needs a bit of inspiration for MC settlements, go and check out what happened to Survival Mountain. Take the Red line to Nile Lair, then transfer to Yellow and go past Buncible Compound. |
