You'd have thought they'd try to eliminate such terrible lines from a trailer. Or, y'know, the move in general.

I suspect that they're a company that counts on their trailers being so terrible that people pass them around the internets. Then a small but significant proportion of those people goes out to buy the DVD in order to judge whether it is actually as bad as it looks.

Isn't that how Snakes on a Plane became so popular? (Actually I never saw it. Was it any good?)

But yeah, that was so bad that it has to be intentional. You can't be this cheesy with a movie and then take yourself seriously unless there's something wrong with you.

In theory, but it backfired on them. It didn't do near as well as the studio expected and they considered it a dud.

According to Wikipedia Snakes on a plane grossed almost twice what it costs. I'm also surprised that it scored 68% on Rotten Tomatoes.

That's why I used the phrase 'as well as the studio expected' rather than 'failure'. Read lower down the Wikipedia article to see where the studio executive uses the word 'dud'.

Is that real? I loved that toy as a kid, even if I was using it as a superhero instead of a Transformer. Be nice to get one where the paint isn't almost totally pealed off.

They're both repainted from a classics version released a few years ago.

the godawful colours one is a convention exclusive though so he costs a mint.

That's cool and impressive and all, but at the same time there's something so incredibly wrong with that which I can't quite pin down...

Three things wrong with this movie:

1. Ice Age? Seriously? There had better be some squirrel chasing a nut in this movie.

2. I can not take Patrick Labyorteaux seriously in any role anymore since he played on JAG.

3. Day After Tommorow anyone?
