(1)Whoah. Fuck you. Show me dishing it out. I want to see it. And then show me taking the moral high ground, because I want to see that too. I changed my post because I didn't want to get in an argument with you, not because of any high minded ideals. And what I changed the post to couldn't even possibly be construed as an attack against you.

(1)Stop crying.

Do you really think that what I do, and what you do are similar? (1)Show me telling someone that their art is shit. Show me telling someone that their life is sad. Show me purposely hitting as below the belt as possible. (2)Any jokes that I make are meant good naturedly, and I go out of my to make sure that they aren't going to hurt anyone's feelingsBut you're so fucking edgy, and (3)such a bad motherfucker that you don't give a shit what you say to people as long as you are able to feel smug and self assured by the end of it. You have disdain, and you intend to pour it out on someone. Anyone. (4)It doesn't matter how nice they are to you, or whether they deserve it or not.

(1)Really? You can't get over what I said about your music? Even after I commented again explaining what I meant in the original comment so that you would understand it WASN'T intentionally hurtful? Wow.

(2)Yeah, your jokes are usually good natured. But I've seen you go out of your way to be down right annoying AND mean, making your jokes as personal as possible without really being hurtful, just getting underneath someones skin enough to really piss them off. So you're more subtle than I am, I guess.

(3)You almost hit the nail on the head this time. Except for one thing: it's the internet. I don't say the things I say for the sake of smugness or feeling self assured. When I want that, I go out into the REAL WORLD, and I succeed at whatever it is I'm trying to do. It doesn't always happen. Sometimes I fail. The point is, I don't use the internet as some sort of self esteem boost for myself. That's pathetic. I calls 'em likes I sees 'em, and you [and others] have given me a ton of plusrep for it. Provided it's not aimed at you. Except for my initial comment about you writing 'another shitty song', which, I assumed was blatant in its attempt to be a joke. Your plusrep validated this assumption. Then you started crying more.

(4)Who's deserving and who isn't? What, you've been here for a few years, so you can do and say as you wish, with immunity from any sort of backlash or feedback? Please.

:

()
Yes. It's true. (1)I'm not as cool as you. (2)I'm not as good an artist. (3)I wasn't smart enough to actually go to school for a decent career. (4)I've been a real dick at times. (5)Am I missing any other flaws that you might like to point out?

(1) Okay. I'm not sure if that's what you honestly think, or if it was some sort of school-yard-strategy. So...Thanks? I guess.

(2) Oh, piss off already. Apples and oranges. Also, while I loathe any form of comparison regarding art in general, yours REALLY chaps my fucking ass. I put my shit out there. So what? It's not personal art. It's mindless, 'I don't know what I'm doing until I'm done, I like bright colors' bullshit. But it's out there. Yours DID seem to be personal, and you put it out there, too. As far as I'm concerned, that makes you more of an artist than I'll ever be. I'll never have the balls to show anything personal here. But fine. Shit on your own chest.

(3)Bullshit. You have to be one of the more intelligent users around. And while we've get a plethora of dumb-dumbs, we also have some pretty sharp cats around here. I went to school. You didn't. You own a house, I rent an apartment. Your job sounds more challenging than mine could ever be on the worst of days. When you're actually working, and not trolling the forum, I mean.

(4) Kind of goes against your 'I always make sure not to hurt anyones feelings' statement, but no real disagreements here.

(5)No. Because I think you're a good, interesting fellow, and I have no real interest in hampering your already low self esteem.

EDIT: Fuck you, Sekto. Stop defending me, and stop pretending I actually want you to act as my ambassador. You're only embarrassing yourself. You. Don't. Fucking. Know. Me. I'm trying to be nice here.

No hard feelings.

This was in regards to the write a shitty song about it, which I did take to be a joke, until you decided to keep digging. At that point, I figured you were just intentionally being a cunt.

Oh, I don't deny that I've gone too far before. In fact, I made an entire thread about what a dickhead I was about a year ago. I may still take something a bit too far, but I try to recognize when I do that, and apologize for it when it happens.

I plusrepped you as a way of saying "I get it. You're joking.", but your little comment about my sad little life fucking pissed me off. And that "It's the internet" bullshit isn't any more valid now than when I used to use it. Also, why is it that when someone acts like a complete and utter cunt, and someone tells them they are acting like a complete and utter cunt, that person is a crybaby? You're being a dick, and making statements that you mean to be intentionally nasty. So, yeah. That fucking sucks.

Not what I meant. I meant deserving as in acting in a manner that requests a verbal backhand. And I'm not just referring to myself.

I also assumed the all caps, lack of punctuation thing was another clear indicator of a joke. I know you love your family. How do I know? Because I read EVERY FUCKING BLOG you write. And enjoy those about your family life the most. I actually showed Dorian your 'home movies' and said something similar to 'See, this is why I like the guy. He's neat.' But taking a shot at how much or little you value your family, yeah, that was over the line.

I apologize for that.

It's not the fact that you were calling me out as a cunt that made you a cry baby. It was the fucking pissy way you went about it. I think the next rung down would have been you reporting my posts. Had you initially gone with "You're being a dick, and making statements that you mean to be intentionally nasty. So, yeah. That fucking sucks." I probably would have agreed and moved on.

Love this cover, as well as many others from the Bad Plus.

flim is such an amazing song, and i really felt the drummer in that cover always lets it down. because this dude shows that physically drumming aphex twin isn't strictly impossible

OANST 11-20-2009 06:44 AM

I got the new Holopaw album yesterday, and it's fucking beautiful. I love that band so much.

This song isn't from the new album, but it's the only video that I can find for them.

Anonyman! 11-20-2009 08:27 PM

this is best aphex twin

it makes me a sad babby :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Kimon 11-22-2009 02:11 PM

P.S. Leto, have we discussed Tobacco/Black Moth Super Rainbow yet?

Leto 11-22-2009 03:04 PM

Neither but I do likes me some Black Moth Super Rainbow. Like a cracked out vocoding monster who wants to give you candy

OANST 11-24-2009 01:07 PM

The new Animal Collective album came out yesterday, so I'm buying it today. It's called Fall Be Kind.

OH MY GOD IT'S SOOOOO GOOOOOOD. I love it.

Well said... can't get enough of those sunshower cracklin' beats. I don't know if you've gotten into Tobacco, but he's Black Moth Super Rainbow's producer/singer/beatmaster, and has an album called Fucked UP Friends... essentially BMSR with coke and 40 oz

Mac Sirloin 11-26-2009 07:33 PM

Electric Light Orchestra is literally the best music ever

nothing compares

OddjobAbe 11-28-2009 04:16 AM

I just found my Frank Zappa "Apostrophe" CD. Brilliant stuff. I think I preferred "Freak Out", though.

OANST 11-28-2009 07:25 AM

I promise that I'm not going to forever fill this thread with Animal Collective stuff, but the new album just came out, and I think that people should, no, need to hear this song.

If you find the song difficult at first, then you should jump to the three minute mark as that is about where the real meat of the song comes in.

T-nex 11-28-2009 07:56 AM

Hey.. Thanks :D I didn't know they had a new album. I bought the last one, but I accidently put tape on it, and the glue got on the CD so I ended up downloading the songs anyway :( Oh well.
I listened to the whole song. I liked it :)

If anyone is into weird music, try "Laurie Anderson" :p Some of it is a bit hard for me to digest, but my mom introduced me to it on my birthday. Not too bad if you ask me.

Oh and Electric Light Orchestra is yummy too!

Mac Sirloin 11-28-2009 10:06 AM

Listening to the Dethalbum/Dethalbum II. Good music to vacuum to.

Leto 11-28-2009 04:15 PM

Because that's what people who buy the Deth albums do for a living: operate vacuum cleaners.

Mac Sirloin 11-28-2009 04:17 PM

HEY I HAD TO CLEAN MY ROOM ALRIGHT

Also I was being fucking angry vacuuming. I was raping the carpet with the power head.

EDIT: No matter how many times I rewrite that it sounds bad. FUCK THIS GAME

abe is now! 11-29-2009 12:23 AM

You don't love the last song? I love the last song.

It's supposed to be a bit droney, and melancholy which can easily become boring. It reminds me of the less upbeat stuff from Feels. Which I love. Feels, and Water Curses are my two favorite Animal Collective albums.

Leto 12-01-2009 01:02 PM

speaking of drone...

www.letosheils.tumblr.com

daily drones. use them to cry while you masturbate, or whatever.

Gretin 12-01-2009 10:34 PM

I recently got the new Sonata Arctica album "The Days of Grays," and I'd have to say while it's certainly not everyone's cup of tea (not even for some of those who do like the band's previous work) the songs have grown on me. It's probably my most listened to CD at the moment, until I play it so much that I get sick of it that is :p

Leto 12-01-2009 10:54 PM

i. LOVE. wolf and raven/black sheep/etc. ultimate beermusic. undefeatable. so wonderful.

Xavier 12-01-2009 11:17 PM

The last Rammstein album is actually surprisingly good, if you liked Mutter or Herzeleid I recommend giving it a try.

Subway to Sally is better.

OANST 12-02-2009 01:23 PM

It reminds me of The Tea Party. In the way that they both sound like they could be interesting if they didn't suck dick.

In retrospect, The Tea Party is obviously a much better band, but they're still a bunch pretentious twats. I'll always love Shadows on the Mountainside, though. That song was everything to me when I was in high school.

OANST 12-02-2009 01:49 PM

I'm sorry for double posting, but I have to share this. I was just on the Pitchfork website, and noticed that they recently reviewed the new Rihanna album. On a whim, I decided to read. I was horrified. Leave Rihanna's musical talent aside. I don't care. What did interest me was the fact that this reads exactly like a speech that Patrick Bateman would give right before caving someone's head in with a pick-axe. I mean, really. This shit is ridiculous. Did they hire Bret Easton Ellis to write a review for them as a joke?

:

()
On 2008's no. 1 single "Take a Bow", Rihanna blew off a philandering numbskull and delivered her most realistic performance to date. When she scoffed "please" at the whimpering chump 43 seconds into the track, she officially put the ice queen routine behind her and entered the realm of full-blooded pop stars. (Her newly severe, emo-boy-esque haircut seen in the song's video did not hurt, either.) "Take a Bow" was witty, funny, and as full of attitude as kiss offs come, and Rihanna definitely sounded like she was having fun with the imagined breakup. Fallouts mark Rated R as well, though they are decidedly heavier. Over the course of the album, Rihanna puts a revolver to her temple on "Russian Roulette", recalls "white outlines" on "Cold Case Love", and even threatens to crash head-on into a boyfriend on "Fire Bomb"-- not exactly the most politically correct metaphor in the age of IEDs, but it does get her point across. In a recent interview, Rihanna described the Rated R recording sessions as "theraputic," and the vitriolic, rough, raw end product is about as brutal as you'd expect.

Anonyman! 12-04-2009 11:40 AM

I don't get it. There's a strange flurry of emotions in that excerpt and it hurts.
